  1. ^ An entrance along the sidewalk with an overhang or something would have at least made the frontage more inviting. Instead we get yet another corner plaza.
  2. In case you've been waiting for another mediocre design from CSU. These match the post from freethink in early Februrary. At least most of the grass courtyard is in the interior of the plot. The plaza along Chester is there already. http://planning.city.cleveland.oh.us/designreview/drcagenda/2016/03182016/index.php
  3. I like the residential building along Cedar. Right now that stretch is just a 3 story blank wall. There is glass along the first floor but it's covered up inside and not real storefronts. Replacing it with residential will liven up the entire development and make it more inviting. Thumbs way up.
  4. You heard it here first, folks. We are getting a 40 story Ikea downtown.
  5. There needs to be a photo thread showing the before, during, and after for this project. The building awes every time I look at it.
  6. ^ Good design isn't cheap. They probably guessed they couldn't get as much per sqft for the rear units so they had to scrimp on the exterior materials and design.
  7. What about the night? Rascal House generated a lot of foot traffic all day long, not just during school hours. I'm not suggesting they kept the pizza shop but a better site plan would have incorporated mixed use on that block. Rather than green grass on one side and parking lot on the other.
  8. How unfortunate Jacobs group is involved in both the Public Square lot and the Chagrin highlands. What incentive do they have to steer companies downtown where they likely make money from parking vs green field development? I was concerned when I saw that pop up on the planning commission agenda last week and have been waiting for the follow-up article. http://planning.city.cleveland.oh.us/designreview/drcagenda/2016/02192016/index.php

That's how towns with perennial losing teams are. I listened to a grand total of 5 minutes of sports talk this morning. Carmen and Lima, Mike & Mike, and Rizz were all talking talking about Golden State when I flipped them on. I said bleep this and turned it off. I'll just watch the games. I don't need the media telling me the Cavs have no chance.

How about just enjoying the Cavs run without spending every second worrying about other teams. They are going to win 60 games this year and likely make a deep run in the playoffs. Golden State is so far into the fans heads. The Cavs have a good chance to beat anybody in the NBA and that includes the Warriors.

Or vice versa, when he approves a plan that is unpopular among local block clubs.
  12. Word is Tremont Montessori is next on the demo block. 2409 West 10th Street Cleveland, OH 44113 https://www.google.com/maps/@41.4783204,-81.6864173,3a,75y,321.74h,86.3t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sgo4xTZvicpDZWa0xMI_Ijg!2e0!7i13312!8i6656!6m1!1e1?hl=en-US
  13. How about this for a place with a view? The northern most edge of Duck Island at West 17th and Lorain. 8-) http://www.zillow.com/homedetails/1684-Lorain-Ave-Cleveland-OH-44113/2099563922_zpid/
  14. ^ Is there more detail in the audio? The written article was heavy on the rhetoric, light on the statistics. The article talks about the disadvantages of streetcars and how many of them across the country have been a disappointment. But where are the ridership numbers? The consultant says the Portland streetcars have in some ways not lived up to the hype. Okay, in what way?
  15. ^ West 14th and Holmden ave on the south side of Tremont.
  16. Not sure I'd put any faith in something directly from Stark either.
  17. I thought bikes were allowed on the Healthline lane downtown only. Somewhere on the CSU campus a separated bike lane starts all the way to UC.
  18. I think this news is worse.
  19. Megabus canceling the CLE-CIN route only tells us there was little demand for the current service Megabus provided. That could be because of the frequency, cost, quality of their buses, or just the very fact it was a bus. If you want an opposing correlation, might as well point to the air service from Burk that has been successful. Quoted for posterity because it can't be said any simpler than this:
  20. We are going to be inundated with stories like this over the next year. It's how you quietly shape public opinion. It started last month with judges complaining about parking problems at the Huntington garage. Never mind the fact 800 employees that previously used the garage moved to East 9th two years ago.
  21. The lighting might be on the wall for GE Lighting in East Cleveland. I guess it wouldn't come as that big of a shock. GE is divesting itself from consumer electronics and appliances. It was obvious something was up when they established the "Current" division in Boston and moved the GE Lighting CEO there. http://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20160127/BLOGS03/160129835/bloomberg-ge-might-be-ready-to-shed-its-legacy-lighting-business
  22. ^ Murray Hill, any chance you can remove the pictures from your quote, so we don't have to scroll through them twice? I agree with the sentiment, they both look pretty uninteresting. And more importantly have a mediocre site layout.

LeBron just isn't as explosive as he once was. He made his living playing iso ball. Either he'd beat you off the dribble or you would double team him leaving someone wide open for a three on the kickout. He's slowed down enough where one player can slow or trip him up. I agree completely with Believeland. He needs to learn a real offense where he is no longer facilitator. Still a phenomenal player but he needs to adjust.

4 games in 6 nights doesn't help either.
