Cleveland: Flats East Bank
^ Drop a pin right in the traffic circle at Old River and Main. You'll see the last time the Street View car was in the flats was 2014 when the site was still under construction. The entire site was fenced off for years before that.

Prospect Ave
I don't know much about their history, but I do know it's a bed and breakfast now. Their website says the building was built in 1874. If that's true, it has to be one of the oldest buildings in Cleveland. http://www.brownstoneinndowntown.com/index.html http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g50207-d111528-Reviews-Brownstone_Inn_Downtown-Cleveland_Ohio.html

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
"Barely joined teammates for celebration" is the kind of stupid stories you get when a team is playing well. Am I supposed to be worried about the third point guard off the bench? Not celebrating enough?

Cleveland: Public Square Redesign
That are eliminating the vast majority of traffic driving through it. It will function an order of magnitude better than what was there before it. I don't think the intent was ever to turn it into a park.

Ridesourcing
www.crainscleveland.com/article/20151223/NEWS/151229932/ohio-to-regulate-ridesharing-services-such-as-uber-lyft Way to fix something that wasn't broken. The current process has worked amazingly well. Nobody thinks the system needs more red tape and bureaucracy. Companies like Geico rolled out policies specifically for Uber and Lyft.

Cleveland: Downtown: Drury Plaza Hotel Development
^^ Cool video. Wish it was longer. I'm impressed with the level of detail going into the restoration.

Akron: Random Development and News
Where is "100 Rosa Parks Drive"? It doesn't come up on Google Maps. edit: Never mind, I see the building number doesn't exist yet. It's a small road between Main and Broadway St near Gojo.

Cleveland: Downtown: May Company Building
How much does the parking component hurt the May Company proposal? Thumbing through the application guide for round 15, potential economic impact is 70% of the scoring. The 925 building will have nearly twice the number of apartments, plus a hotel and office space. That alone just crushes the May Company proposal. If the goals are catalytic impact and historic preservation, then converting 150,000+ square feet of space for parking can't help it's chances. See page 31 for the criteria summary. http://development.ohio.gov/files/redev/OHPTC_Application_Guide_Round_15.pdf I also wondered if the nearby public/supportive housing projects like Winton Manor on Prospect helped the 925 since low-income and unemployed in the census tract actually help your score. But it seems they are both in the same census tract. http://cua6.urban.csuohio.edu/nodis/maps/2010maps/Cuyahoga_tracts_with_roads.pdf So, now what? The chain of title discussed a couple weeks ago set this building up for a TIF. Will that be enough to start redevelopment?

Cleveland Browns Discussion
Progessive has 10x the number of employees as the Browns organization and they likely spend a much higher percentage of their salary on expenses. And the region (mostly Cleveland) will have spent a half a billion dollars in debt service, maintenance, and renovations on the Browns stadium by the time it's retired. And doesn't Berea own the Browns office space? There is no direct comparison to a regular company.

Cleveland: General Business & Economic News
Article from Brent Larkin about the proposed budget cuts at NASA Glenn. The money would be shifted to facilities in Alabama and/or Maryland. NASA Glenn is hugely important to the region. http://www.cleveland.com/opinion/index.ssf/2015/12/fight_for_nasa_glenn_dollars_i.html

Detroit Shorway thread. Also there was an article posted on the previous page on cleveland.com about what CSMD wants to do with the site and how the CDC has been trying to get them to sell. www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,653.2200.html

Cleveland: North Coast Transportation Center
That's too bad. They should release the plans as-is to get public reaction. Either the reaction is positive and they can try to fund the better plan or they look fiscally responsible when the value engineered plans come out.

Cleveland: Warehouse District: Development and News
Some constructive criticism. I don't like the odd curvature and setbacks along West 6th. And the tower across from the Rockefeller building at West 6th and Superior should be flush with the corner with it's facade extending down to the sidewalk. That would give some variety at street level. Otherwise the entire stretch from St. Clair to Superior would look identical. Now get it started!

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
It looks like Knez was anticipating pushback from the Landmark Commission. Their presentation had 7 (!) different site plans covering everything from 2 story detached homes to a couple 8 unit apartment buildings. http://planning.city.cleveland.oh.us/landmark/agenda/2015/11122015/image/Bridge_&_Fulton_Court_42.jpg http://planning.city.cleveland.oh.us/landmark/agenda/2015/11122015/image/Bridge_&_Fulton_Court_50.jpg http://planning.city.cleveland.oh.us/landmark/agenda/2015/11122015/image/Bridge_&_Fulton_Court_51.jpg http://planning.city.cleveland.oh.us/landmark/agenda/2015/11122015/image/Bridge_&_Fulton_Court_52.jpg http://planning.city.cleveland.oh.us/landmark/agenda/2015/11122015/image/Bridge_&_Fulton_Court_53.jpg http://planning.city.cleveland.oh.us/landmark/agenda/2015/11122015/image/Bridge_&_Fulton_Court_54.jpg http://planning.city.cleveland.oh.us/landmark/agenda/2015/11122015/image/Bridge_&_Fulton_Court_55.jpg

Cleveland: Local Media News & Discussion
Somebody posted this article in the RTA thread. There was a snippet at the end that was pretty disappointing: http://www.clevescene.com/scene-and-heard/archives/2015/11/12/rta-to-raise-base-fare-cut-service-in-2016 That is truly a shame. She was the only one covering transportation in Cleveland's "major" outlets, and did a decent job at it too. That's one way to silence public transit advocacy (even if unintentionally). Her articles frequently had quotes from AAO and Ken.

Northeast Ohio / Cleveland: General Transit Thread
^ I think Strap and K said it better than I could. Rather than getting defensive about their commitment to rail, they should have used this as an opportunity to initiate real change at the state level. Instead the tone was basically "Don't worry. Everything will be aaallll right."

November 2015: Ohio Issues 2 and 3 (Monopolies/Marijuana)
Looks like issue 2 is going to pass. That's going to make it even harder to get ballot measures organized.
