  1. ^^ That wouldn't surprise me. Think of all the riverfront property in play between the lake and Collision Bend. East Bank is gearing up for phase 3. Jacobs prepping plans for the West Bank. FCE (or an affiliate) on Scranton. And Rock gaming at the end. Interestingly, Sherwin Williams owns all of the riverfront property west of the casino phase 2 site to Old River Rd. Property that itself might be worth a fortune some day.
  2. The opposition did a good job getting people more worried about monopolies than whether or not marijuana should be legal.

LeBron just got to 25,000 points in Philly. Actually got a standing O from the crowd. Classy moment, Philly-fan.
  4. ^ Wish you copy/pasted some of the article. Looks like they pulled the article already.
  5. ^ The podium canopy on all sides (not just Ontario) looks unfinished to me based on the renderings. There should be a structure covering the frame that's already installed. I doubt they can finish it until the Lakeside facade is complete which still has the construction elevators attached.
  6. People that overdose on illegal substances don't always go to the hospital or poison control centers. That skews the numbers enough that the comparison is suspect. Edit: I've got to stop quickly scanning over posts. The OP was about marijuana exposure ages 0-5, not OD. TerryS, how were the numbers obtained?
  7. It's easy to say Tower City is in a bad location in hindsight after the city dismantled a half dozen streetcar lines going all throughout downtown. When it was built it wasn't expected that people would walk everywhere after stepping off the train.

  9. Cool the building in my pictures above is going to landmark this week. The address is listed as 1224 Huron. Some historic pictures: Star Gennet Building http://planning.city.cleveland.oh.us/landmark/agenda/2015/10222015/index.php
  10. I hate "what's going on with so-and-so project?" questions as much as the next person, but... We are coming up on 2 years since the Worthington building won $5 million in state preservation tax credits. The program rules mention progress reports and other requirements that have to be met. Some projects drag on for years without a public peep, so I don't know how strictly the rules are kept (or how easy it is to show trivial progress). The current owner of the property is "OLD CLEVELAND" which public records list at the same address as the Dalad Group in Independence. So they did end up buying the property (there were articles saying the purchase was contingent on getting the tax credits). Haven't heard anything since. Oddly enough there was a big to-do about renovating the courtyard in the middle of the block. There are actually two courtyards tucked between the buildings. Dalad Group doesn't own either of them.
  11. The corner cupola mimics the house across the street, even in the use of mixed siding. The design is a little busy to me, but it has great presence from the street. BTW, here is the original discussion when the plans went to Landmark. Dumbledore also posted a few pictures of the houses next door for comparison. http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,2492.msg730936.html#msg730936 http://planning.city.cleveland.oh.us/landmark/agenda/2014/10232014/image/Jay_Ave_01.jpg http://i942.photobucket.com/albums/ad261/pwmcleveland/baa/photo329_zps20fbfe85.jpg
  12. A couple more pictures of the Hilton. The light strip looks like it's installed inside the glass facade. It's very bright and lights up the interior hallway (stairwell? I can't tell). The other picture is nothing special. I just thought the reflection was kind of neat.
  13. Facade restoration and conversion to apartments in Playhouse Square at 1226 Huron. Here is a picture from Google Street View taken last year that shows the newer facade. And a couple pictures from last night after it was removed, uncovering the original brickwork. It's a small building, but it is still cool to see them restore the original facade. Sorry the pictures are a little grainy. The sun was going down and my camera doesn't do well in low light.
  14. Here is an infill house in Ohio City. This picture was from a couple weeks ago.
  15. This looks promising. Thanks for the updates KJP. Do you know if Megabus or any other RTA's are involved or planning stops here?
  16. I always enjoyed the updates posted to this thread. The final product looks great.

^ Josh Gordon? edit: Oops you said QB. It was just a guess anyway. After looking online it doesn't look he won those few weeks he put up historic numbers.
  18. Is there a lack of buildable land downtown that suddenly the current Justice Center is blocking a major development? I don't understand the comment about the complex sitting on prime real estate.
  19. It was just something I heard through my block club that the local club there was pushing back and didn't endorse the variances. I'm sure they'll find a way to get it done. If anything we've seen the zoning board has been pro development. Perhaps dead in the water was too strong a phrase. Lighten up, Francis.
  20. ^ Great article. Some comments from Berges allude to opposition to these developments. I've heard the same thing. Like the townhouses south of the animal clinic are basically dead in the water because of the residents across the street.
  21. Probably, but that wouldn't satisfy ADA requirements. There has to be an elevator somewhere if they intend to provide a pedestrian connection to the Mall or if it's multilevel. Its just a question of where and how it connects everything in the site. Worst case there is an elevator from ground floor to skybridge with a outdoor walkway to a single story transportation center. Best case it's integrated with the transportation center that connects parking, skybridge, and convention center all together.
  22. Glad the city came to its senses on the proposed site. What are the odds there is a direct/enclosed connection to the convention center? In a perfect world, the elevator would look something like this: Ground floor - Greyhound/Megabus, Amtrak, RTA, taxi. Second/Third floor - parking Fourth floor - Convention center skywalk Fifth floor - Skybridge to Mall or Lakefront
  23. Weren't millions in federal funds redirected from the Warner Swasey building for this project? Three spec buildings that are just a single story. I would have been happy if at least two of them were combined into a two or three story building and oriented north-south to allow for future construction. The current site plan doesn't leave much room for expansion.
  24. ^ That might have been true at some point but there are only a few large apartment buildings along 14th now and they are all south of the proposed location, which is bounded by a busy road, hospital, and highway entrance ramp to the north and west. A store as small as this likely will be will depend on daily walk up shoppers. Putting it at the edge of Tremont seems like a poor idea.
  25. Constantino's might be opening up in Tremont. I love the idea of having a grocery within walking distance, but not overly fond of the location they chose. I understand there aren't many options in Tremont. http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2015/10/constantinos_market_may_be_hea.html
