Cleveland: Cleveland State University: Development and News
Now why do you suppose that is? You can thank decades of poor development patterns for that. My comparison was mostly for a visual to show how large and empty this block now is.

Cleveland: Cleveland State University: Development and News
The horse can't possibly be flogged enough. Picture the block at E.4th bound by Corner alley and Vincenzas at opposite corners demolished for the CIMP building. That's about the same size. What kind of street life are you going to get from a block that large that empty.

Cleveland: Cleveland State University: Development and News
^^ That could have been accomplished with a creative building layout. An inset/cutout at the corner of E.22nd would have given much of the same view without the wide frontage so far from the street. Litt loves himself some views and pointless green space. The CIMP building could have fit comfortably on half of the block.

Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway / Gordon Square Arts District: Development News
I wasn't expecting the school district to just roll over for developer profit. This could also just be negotiating tactic to get more for the site. Why not split the parcel into two? 5 acres is roughly 220,000 square feet. Sell 2 acres for a mixed-use development to partly fund a new high school on 3 acres along W.49th. That is plenty of space for a 5 story school with auditorium and garage for ~200 cars. The area is perfect for this kind of density -- school AND residential. This.

Cleveland sports talk radio
Sports talk radio is as dead as local journalism. Evident by the God-awful writing in that Scene article. If they had a point, it was lost somewhere in the babble. Rizzo gets by on natural talent, because he certainly doesn't look like he prepares whatsoever for his shows. He comes off as lazy. The Lima and Carmen pairing has potential to be great radio.

Cleveland: Tremont: Development and News
Yep. There has been a lot of progress inside though. From October last year: http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,1699.msg731005.html#msg731005 In other news -- 4 more townhomes at the corner of West 7th and University Ct. There is a vacant lot at the corner and two-family next to it. Both would be replaced with 2 townhomes fronting West 7th and 2 more behind it. A single driveway off University Ct for rear-entry garages. The site plan is similar to Tremont Black, except half the units.

Same with me. Maybe experimenting with different site layouts.

Cleveland - Buona Festa
^ Thanks. I figured it wasn't the Primo Vino space. It just looked familiar from the renderings we saw. The offset floors and horizontal windows.

Nice set! This isn't on the old Primo Vino space is it? http://i942.photobucket.com/albums/ad261/pwmcleveland/117th/IMG_4024_zpslkuh04dj.jpg

Cleveland: One University Circle
Dimit is everwhere nowadays. Very clever design considering the oddly shaped parcel. Most residential high rises tend to look busy and this is no different. The phase 2 site is right at the corner of stokes and Euclid. Good place for some ground floor retail.

Cleveland / Lakewood: The Edge Developments
Oops, good call. Yeah that's on the southeast corner of 117th and Clifton.

Landmarks agenda. Storefront renovation for the strip on the north side of Clifton next door to the coming grocery at 117th. I assume it would be a user setting. Several other forums I've seen allow the user to enable/disable embedded images for themselves. Mobile browsing on a cell connection is sometimes a crapshoot.

Hyperloop
Are highways straight enough to get anywhere near the speeds being claimed? Definitely not between LA and SF, unless they plan to acquire new right-of-way. I hope you understand our skepticism -- the system that's never been built before will quieter, smoother, faster, and cheaper to build than high speed rail. Never mind the fact that it's an order of magnitude more complex than anything built before. I hope it becomes the defacto standard for regional travel. As jmicha said, planes for short trips are a pain in the butt. I am trying to keep realistic expectations about how fast it will travel and how much it'll cost to build (and eventually ride).

Cleveland: Innerbelt News
^ That's actually pretty cool.

Hyperloop
Where do you get the right-of-way needed to see 700mph over any real distance? Maybe the Great Plains states? The technology is interesting for sure, and I hope it succeeds. What gives you the impression this will be cheaper? Planes have the advantage of requiring practically zero infrastructure between points A and B.

I don't need much. Maybe a setting that forces all embedded images to show as links (instead of the embedded image). Sometimes threads get bogged down by dozens of pics.

Cleveland-Akron: Bicycling Developments and News
Is the buffer for on-street parking? Otherwise I don't understand why it would be striped like that.

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
The projection and audio equipment was updated in the last couple years for the Cleveland film festival. It's a definite improvement, but the whole complex needs a major overhaul. Fairmount sees FCE unwilling to invest major money into their theater. That leaves a gaping hole in the market.

Suburban Sprawl News & Discussion
I didn't buy my house because of the neighbors, but I am grateful that I know them. We hang out with several pretty regularly. I felt better when our neighbor watched over my place when on vacation. Not to mention watering my flower baskets and veggies. I never had that kind of relationship with neighbors when I was renting. Owning your place gives you a different mentality.

Can you post the source link instead of the Twitter redirect? That way the link still works if/when Twitter goes out of business.

Electric Bikes - Why haven't they become the wave of the future?
They are very expensive and easy to steal would be my guess. Besides that the technology for them has only recently gotten good enough to make them viable. It's no surprise they haven't caught on yet.

Cleveland: Clark–Fulton / Stockyards: Development and News
I saw this in the board of zoning agenda for August 31. The address points to an existing 2-story brick building on Clark. The agenda requests a variance along W 65th and the existing building doesn't stretch anywhere near the interection. So this is clearly new construction. I just hope it isn't some crappy dollar store or auto parts store with a parking lot and rear entrance. The area isn't exactly booming so I am not expecting much. http://planning.city.cleveland.oh.us/bza/agenda/2015/crr08-31-2015.pdf 9:30 Ward 3 Calendar No. 15-172: 6605 Clark Avenue Joe Cimperman 23 Notices MAP Partnership, owner, proposes to erect a new retail store in a C2 Local Retail Business District and a B3 General Industry District. The owner appeals for relief from the following sections of the Cleveland Codified Ordinances: 1. Section 357.07 which states that a 10’ setback is required along Clark Avenue and a 0’ setback is proposed. 2. Section 352.10 which states that a 6 foot wide landscape strip is required along W. 65th St. where the parking abuts the street and 5.97’ is proposed. 4. Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
I said this months ago when there was a rash of broken car windows in Tremont. There is blood in the water and the clowns at NEOMG smell clicks. Remember the weekly crime reports about Cleveland Heights last year? The current hot button is Tremont. Look at the other headline at the top: "Cleveland police officer in serious condition after deadly Tremont crash testified in Michael Brelo trial"
