  1. If bro's are college graduates in their 20's with disposal income, then yeah, you'll see that everywhere in Cleveland. Mostly because 20-somethings go out a lot. The patrons seem pretty varied where I normally go. No more or less of any particular demographic. If Tremont is bro-haven, then the word "bro" lost all meaning, much like how "hipster" is used to describe anybody in their 20's with a beard.
  2. Apparently not.
  3. What's the ESPN crew doing at East 4th again? Good to see Steven A Smith branching out into politics.
  4. ^ There are a couple renderings of those two houses on Zillow. www.zillow.com/homedetails/2036-W-18th-St-Cleveland-OH-44113/2101593984_zpid/ Edit: $542,000 -- 2 beds 2.5 baths 2,513 sqft
  5. There will be little projects like this all over Tremont over the next few year -- 2 and 3 cluster townhouses stuffed into combined parcels. The largest undeveloped area that isn't already parking is on West 6th just south of Literary. A bunch of semi continuous parcels owned by 2 different LLC's.
  6. Looking awesome! It looks like they still have months worth of work to do. Can't wait until it is finished.
  7. I won't get excited that a development is not worse than what was there before. Though I agree it is a small step forward but that is more for the new grocery than the site plan.
  8. ^ Single use and a sea of parking? That would be my guess. Plus the small outlot buildings are on the opposite corner of the parking lot which hurts walkability. And the gas station at the corner but that's not the developers fault.
  9. Evidently they are more like guidelines. The CPC approved the demolition request with no development plan and a 5 year parking permit. All Geis needed was the ol' wink and gun. Don't worry we're not in the parking business (except for the garages we already own). I don't doubt Geis has bigger plans for this corner and two story adjacent garage. I do question the implication from mjarboe this will be any legitimate time before the 5 year permit expires.
  10. ^ Yes for sure. High pressure sodium bulbs put out a terrible color spectrum. They get used everywhere because they are surprisingly efficient.
  11. Sorry to be the one to break the bad news, but... http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,7006.msg764832.html#msg764832 New York Spaghetti House: Case 15-048 2173 East 9th Street Demolition http://planning.city.cleveland.oh.us/landmark/agenda/2015/07232015/index.php

Yes, I've followed the proposals. Wake me when one of them actually gets built. LA is being used for leverage to get a new stadium for the other cities.

It's funny that every team uses Los Angeles in their threats to relocate. If you aren't the Lakers you are completely irrelevant in that town. No football team in America would willingly move their team to LA.

Those numbers for a starting combo guard are terrible. The minutes are lower than I would have guessed. Was he benched or hurt at all those two playoff runs? I remember Delonte West playing a lot against Orlando. I hope he doesn't have to play significant minutes in the playoffs (stay healthy Kyrie).
  15. A new engineering building at 2300 Chester Avenue. The current building is brick and stone, built right up the sidewalk on Chester. Any bets what the new building will end up looking like? http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2015/07/cleveland_state_university_fre.html

I believe the disdain is predominately for the Cbus legislature. I think Clevelander said it best: That's pretty much the deal that we already have.

Or you can blame the Columbus Dispatch and Community Research Partners for the article.
  18. Well, they aren't eliminated yet. It sounds like they are making headway finding funding from local sources. Fingers crossed.

^ Maybe underpaid by player standards but the team will likely be massively over the cap even after it expands next year or two.

I wouldn't want Mo Williams if he played for free. Undersized and played no D. His disappearing act in the playoffs is a clincher.
  21. Didn't the tree have its own Twitter account too?
  22. ^ I didn't see anybody say that. Just that it was ugly. As for excessive ornamentation of historic buildings at least they had appropriate massing to fit into the neighborhood even if they "stood out" visually.
  23. ^ Is "My Blind Brother" still filming in Cleveland? I saw Nick Kroll and Jenny Slate walking in Tremont a few weeks ago. Maybe that's what they were filming.
  24. Looks like they made a few tweaks since it went to Landmarks the first time in May. The biggest difference is the cornice is gone. And the canopy over the door is simplified. I don't like it without the cornice. An older looking building like this needs a hat. http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,2492.msg756438.html#msg756438
  25. How long was Holy Craft even open? The Google street view from July 2014 says "coming soon".
