  1. I didn't go their once in the almost 3 years I lived downtown. They closed at like 4pm and weren't open on the weekends.
  2. Funny you guys say that because the original renderings showed a more traditional urban layout. The current site plan that you say is very 80's is much newer.
  3. Went from 2 stories to just 1. And I see the archway from the church that was in the Brickhaus proposal is now gone. :whip:
  4. Or it means relying more heavily on parking. For example, designating 1/3 of the square footage of the site plan to parking.

I think they look good. I was actually worried they'd be too similar to the current uniform - - like same colors but different stripes or something. They look different enough. Thumbs up.
  6. I played around with the site plan in MS Paint. I think this is better.
  7. From here: This came from an email from Brickhaus marketing last August. I wouldn't be surprised if it's changed since then. I understand why the neighbors wouldn't like this one (assuming it's still accurate). Garage access should be via single shared driveway from the middle. Then the outer area between this property and the others would be green space. The driveway around the exterior of the property looks ridiculous to me.
  8. The article title changed within a couple hours once they got more information. It's a shame it has to go from most sensationalized to least as information comes available (instead of the other way around), but it's the way it is. The article title is now: Bricks fall from top of building in downtown Cleveland; no injuries reported (photos, video)
  9. Some more information about IBM's new "Watson Health" unit, which Explorys is now part of. No mention of Cleveland for those 2,000 new and existing jobs. I really hope the leadership at Explorys was strong enough to push to stay in Cleveland. I've always complained about the weak corporate leadership in this region. Hopefully this isn't more to add to the pile. Meanwhile RPM International keeps buying more and more companies, but never relocates any of them here. http://www.modernhealthcare.com/article/20150413/NEWS/150419968 Edit: I was thumbing through IBM's job listings. There are a handful of development and PM jobs in Pittsburg related to Watson software. Probably not related to Watson Health but they might be interested in consolidating. That would be an even bigger FU. Bleeping Pittsburgh. Job postings
  10. I think this more true now than ever.
  11. Quite a bit already under construction. It's awesome to see. The two houses at Smith and 19th and the group of townhomes on 17th are almost done. And they are digging foundations for another set of houses on 19th further up just before Carnegie/Lorain.
  12. I like the use of evergreens to keep a bit of color during the winter. This should look great when it's done.
  13. The climbing gym proposal was more serious than Zone and the CDC would have you believe. The city for whatever reason wants that church gone. Meanwhile the gym proposal just moved to a different church in Tremont. Edgewater's loss. www.freshwatercleveland.com/devnews/climbzion020915.aspx
  14. Where is the dislike button?
  15. ^ That's what you call the money shot.
  16. I wonder who the other companies are. The latest Intesa article said they were negotiating with two potential anchor tenants, both large enough to secure financing to start construction. It sounds like FEB, nuCLEus, and Intesa are chasing the same tenants.

The noise depends entirely on where your apartment is. Mine was along Euclid above the Corner Alley and there was noise most nights to 2am. And the Healthline buses ringing their bells 24/7 but you eventually get used to it. I found it oddly comforting. You should be fine as long as the bedrooms are away from exterior walls. You still have to worry about loud neighbors but you'll have that problem in any apartment. I don't live there any more but I miss it.

I think you misunderstood my question, or it was unclear. I meant, I would have guessed societal costs would be similar between car and bus. I don't understand how the two are so far off from each other considering they both use the same infrastructure. There is probably a logical explanation. Maybe the number of people per bus compared to road space needed? The numbers don't mean anything to me out of context.

How are costs calculated for bus and car transportation? Much of the society costs I think would be shared.
  20. That looks safe. I spent this past Saturday at the Hotel Monaco in Pittsburgh. It was very eclectic, borderline ugly. This is boring by comparison.

The crappy winter just won't let go of the Northeast (including NEO, of course). Temperatures in Ohio, 3/31: Cleveland: 34 Canton: 56 Cinci: 67 Minneapolis: 57
  22. Rule #1 about dealing with cops: Do what they say. Flashing your RTA pass as you walk by without being excused is almost certainly going to escalate a situation, regardless whether or not you did anything wrong.
  23. Some details are clearly gone like the fourth floor patio area. However, I would wait a bit before worrying about other design changes. The ornamentation is probably the last thing(s) installed. For example, somebody upthread was worried the horizontal blocks that wrap around the corners were nixed because they weren't installed yet. If you look at the recent photos there is clearly a mounting point on the corner where the blocks would be installed. Be patient. There is still a year to go.
  24. ^ Or they could be a safety rail for the workers. A few of the pictures showed a metal wire connecting each pole.
