This is barely any better than their last proposal. They "may" sell air rights? A few of you speculated the first proposal was purposely horrendous so their next, slightly-less horrible, proposal had a better chance of passing. I don't see how this project would get approved without a real plan in place. Anybody could put together a pretty rendering in 15 minutes. http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2014/03/herold_building_owner_continue.html#incart_m-rpt-2

Cleveland: Demolition Watch
Isn't that a problem we created? Saying there are no commercial strips because everything has been demolished is not a reason to encourage further demolition.

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
There is no underground parking. However, part of the first floor between the two sides will be parking and the entire second floor is parking. http://planning.city.cleveland.oh.us/designreview/drcagenda/2014/01162014/image/Flats_East_Bank_04.jpg http://planning.city.cleveland.oh.us/designreview/drcagenda/2014/01162014/image/Flats_East_Bank_05.jpg http://planning.city.cleveland.oh.us/designreview/drcagenda/2014/01162014/image/Flats_East_Bank_07.jpg

Cleveland: Downtown: Drury Plaza Hotel Development
Right now they are just doing asbestos abatement. Next round of state preservation tax credits are awarded in March. Assuming Drury gets their credits, full scale construction won't happen until closer to summer. www.crainscleveland.com/article/20140117/FREE/140119804

Very cool. I missed that article. In my defense, I was at Tower City before the holidays to watch Hunger Games 2 with the woman. So the theater was third rate until... 1 month ago? :-)

Cleveland: TV / Film Industry News
The movies shown at the international film festival aren't dependent on high end audio visual equipment. Somebody's short story would show just fine on a bedsheet and projector in a backyard party. Fundraiser or not, people actually want to see the movie. And I'm sure the directors want it shown on a high quality setup.

They need a large venue with proper acoustics and light control. The CC doesn't have the equipment you'd get in a modern theater, Tower City might, but their facilities are third rate.

Cleveland: HealthLine / Euclid Corridor
^ According to the article, despite zero rail expansion, 9 out of 10 cities had a larger increase in rail ridership (or less of a decrease) between 2001 and 2012. His conclusion? Increase funding and expansion of bus lines. :-o Here is a crazy idea. How about shifting funding to transportation options that are actually growing, instead of throwing good money after bad? Proper BRT isn't cheap either. The often praised Healthline was hugely expensive. From the article:

Cleveland: Public Square Redesign
All that depends on the trees. We'll get a bunch of Honey Locusts that bloom late (albeit with a nice yellow color) with mediocre coverage because they are cheap and low maintenance. I'm just saying this project needs variety. 5-6 months is half of the year. Some conifers spread around the square would keep a splash of green year round. Plus they would be perfect for holidays.

Cleveland: Public Square Redesign
I wonder why evergreens are never considered for projects like these. At least a fir or spruce for some color during the winter. Instead we get cold, dead looking trees 8 months out of the year. This would look pretty cool:

Cleveland Browns Discussion
^ I couldn't agree more. If Farmer doesn't like any of those QBs I don't want him settling for one. BPA though is armchair analyst speak. You don't pick players you don't need. If BPA is a left tackle, you taking him? Don't get me wrong. I like Watkins. I just think it would be a wasted pick for Cleveland.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
It's easy to cherry pick a comment when the stats themselves are hugely cherry picked. A dozen wide receiver tandems out of decades worth of professional football. The most recent tandem was Harrison and Wayne and they won, what, one title? And that is with arguably the best quarterback in NFL history. Before that, the greatest show on turf 15 years ago? The most important pieces on an NFL team are: 1. Quarterback 2. Coach ... ... ... ... 73. Everybody else. If you are ready to trot out Hoyer as your franchise QB, be my guest and draft Watkins. The problem is people picture two Josh Gordons out there getting twice the yards and touchdowns. It doesn't work that way. There is a limited number of touches to go around. With Gordon as your #1, you can fill out the rest of the spots with veterans and crafty slot guys like Benjamin. Everybody is one play away from being out from the season. Just ask Hoyer about that. The Browns don't have the luxury of wasting a 4th overall pick as a backup for somebody getting hurt. And if Gordon stays clean, you have a #2 wideout getting the same touches Greg Little would get (if he would hold onto the ball).

^ Why do these articles never post the actual address? "Warszawa district on E 65th" doesn't mean anything to anybody that doesn't know that area.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
Nearly all of the QB's throwing to those tandems are in the HOF right now. And who is our quarterback? Hoyer? I stand by my comment drafting Watkins would be a wasted pick.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
Just pick a quarterback and give him a season to prove himself. If he's awful, the Browns will pick another next year or the year after. No sense in wasting a second first round pick for a backup. Besides Hoyer has shown he can play. Man, I'm glad some of you guys aren't the Browns GM. :-P

Cleveland Browns Discussion
Teams don't need two #1 wide receivers. Watkins wouldn't get enough touches to justify a 4th pick overall on him. You could get the same productivity from a veteran receiver without wasting a draft pick.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
I agree. Remember when they suddenly looked like a real basketball team with these guys coming off the bench? Letting veterans go like Speights is just another tick against Grant.

^ Scheiner and Farmer both report to Haslam directly, which is how it should be. In his press conference, Farmer said he had final control over the roster, but the coaching staff would have input.
