Cleveland: Cuyahoga County Gov't properties disposition (non-Ameritrust)
Cuyahoga County real estate deals attract 31 bidders, from well-known developers to churches CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Cuyahoga County received 31 bids Friday from companies looking to buy government buildings or offering space for the county's new headquarters offices or storage needs. http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2012/09/cuyahoga_county_real_estate_de.html#incart_river_default Interesting the amount of players that come out of the woodwork when there's something big...I'm not sold on Forest City offering the Halle Building to the County. I'd like to think they have something up their sleeve. But that's more than likely wishful thinking.

I go there, too, on the way home from work sometimes and there is never anyone in there. I hope they make it, as I have come to enjoy having good, cheap(er) food a stones throw from my dwelling. :drunk:

Cleveland Browns Discussion
It happens, especially to first-timers and to some who have played for a while. For example, McCoy had a 9 rating in his last preseason game this year -- against second- and third-rounders. Don't jump off a bridge as it was just one game in a season in which I expect the Browns to start 0-4 and go 6-6 the rest of the way. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised. I feared the Browns would get blown-out in this game. I thought they were goin to get demolished... But when you're in the game (and winning) in the 4th quarter, it's hard not to be pissed about Weeden's inability to make ANYTHING happen. Oh well... On to next week.

Cleveland: Hotel Development
Thank God. I was getting worried for a second. We absolutely need this hotel, and more... What was the hold up? I had heard reasons for the possible stoppage of work but was apparently wrong.

Cleveland: Hotel Development
I may be wrong (I have been on this topic before!) but every morning around 7am when I drive by the project to go to work, I swear that there are construction workers parking in the garage. This morning I saw two men in hard hats in there and the gate into the garage was open. I had to do a double take just to make sure. Is it possible there's some work going on inside??

Cleveland: Warehouse District: Development and News
IMO, I don't want the county to move into a new building, only because we are oversaturated with office space at the moment, albeit it's not class A we are oversaturated with. I just hope this project moves forward and the residential component doesn't hinge on something like the county (or another player) having office space with it.

RTA's plan for a West Side transit center: Whatever happened to ...?: http://bit.ly/NU6trl I'm on my phone, so I hope the link works. But I really really hope this project and the residential component go through. I can honestly say that I would be amongst the first to sign a lease if this comes to fruition... I'm that excited about the possibilities.

Lyndhurst: Acacia Country Club
According to Louis Vuitton's website, they already have the "store within a Saks" concept at Beachwood. Is that true? (sorry, I do not go to that Saks). If Hugo were to do the same at Beachwood Saks, would LV stay? At that point you're creating a luxury mall within a department store, no?

Cleveland: Retail News
:wtf: http://www.downtownaustin.com/business/retail/ "Downtown Austin is booming, and retail plays a big role. Brooks Brothers 9,300 sq. ft. flagship store is located on Congress Avenue at 6th Street; Whole Foods' 80,000 sq ft. store and corporate headquarters are located at 6th Street and Lamar; the Second Street Retail District has 54 retail stores and restaurants, and the office and housing markets are on the rise. Currently 117, 425 people work in downtown. There are 9,500 residents who live downtown and 363,000 who live within a 10-minute drive time to downtown. Twelve million tourists visit the city on an annual basis. Downtown Austin has a bright future." For comparison, Downtown Cleveland has 100,000 people who work Downtown, 10,500 residents and 525,000 within a 30 min commute. ^i'd be willing to bet that those 363k in Austin have a higher average income than the 500k in CLE's 10 minute radius. Just a shame really that other cities figure it out and we haven't yet. I truly thought (and still do think) that E4 and the area surrounding it is the perfect place to spring up retail in the City. And I think the warehouse district is perfect for a Whole Foods with a condo/apartment tower on top >:) but that's for another thread :)

Cleveland.com Link: Dredgers Union store closing on East 4th Street, after year of testing retail in downtown Cleveland CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Fourteen months after opening a clothing store on East Fourth Street, two local entrepreneurs have decided to shut the doors at Dredgers Union, their attempt to revive downtown Cleveland's retail scene. http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2012/08/dredgers_union_store_closing_o.html#incart_river_default

Cleveland: Retail News
I know this isnt the retail thread so I'll try to keep it to E4. It just bothers me the perceptions some have of downtown retail... Whether it be not wanting to pay to park, come downtown, etc... And It really bugs me that places such as Cincinnati and Pittsburgh (nothing wrong with those places) have the retail that they do downtown without the downtown population we do, yet experts keep claiming we need a "critical mass of 20k-25k". You would think that the E4 area would be the place to do retail at this point downtown because of the energy and foot traffic it receives. Maybe it was just Dredgers and the type of store it was. I don't know. I just hope this isn't foreshadowing for the future of downtown retail.

Cleveland: Retail News
I agree hubz, I'm just worried that the "This proves downtown cle retail still can't work" talk will start... Not necessarily from people on this board, but others within the city. I truly hope that another non-restaurant retail option can fill that space and be successful.
