I worked in Columbus for a few months. Reminded me of a cross between Hamilton and Sydney Ohio. Beautiful region from the river downtown to Calloway Gardens... I enjoyed my short stint there...

... and factor in the obvious... Covington and Newport are natural extentions of downtown and would be considered so anywhere else. Look at London or Paris. The river doesn't divide them. Cincy is blessed to have such diversity in such a compact area.

  6. Damn... they're impressive!
  7. I've worked in the retail side of the auto industry for 10 years...the big 3 have dug their own grave. The dealerships that closed this year were POORLY RUN DEALERSHIPS and through recent histoty, the poorly run manufacturers have closed also. Honda and Toyota have been retailing hybrids for 10 years now... why would we invest in poor R & D for the big 3 when it's already too late. Honda has been PRODUCING a HYDROGEN car for 8 years and President Dubya a few years back anounced that AMERICA would be producing the same in the next 20 years... whatever... let them go BK... restructure and start over... but DON'T bail out a broken cause
  8. GM and the big 3 have been failed by college educated management or lack there of... they are failing as a percentage, no more than they have the last 4 years... and NOW because the economy has turned, THEY think that they deserve a bailout... please... you can't put a band aid on a cadaver. It's time to go BK.... restructure and start over. Nobody is bailing out the thousands of small businesses around the country... just this white collar elite socialism that this country has developed... only the rich survive...

... you think it might just be you? :-D
  10. Newtown... my bad
  11. 1) Mt Adams- Nothing in the midwest/south competes 2) Over the Rhine - see #1 3) Glendale- Yes, an entire city... was one of the first suburbs not built on a grid... incredibly charming... incredibly unique 4) Hamilton- The most under utilized suburb in Greater Cincinnati. With a little TLC, could be amazing. If the money put into Crapchester was invested here, it would be a Tourest trap 5) Indian Hills 6) Newton -It amazes me that places like #5,6 are INSIDE the beltway. How many metro areas have suburbs/country closer to downtown than traditional suburbs. You feel more in the sticks in these areas that anywhere else near by. 7) Covington. From Mainstraus to Riverside drive. Antebellum to the Ascent. 8) Pendleton - What OTR CAN BE 9) Mariemont 10) Walnut Hills

yeah..Landin was an attempt. Peachtree City is not small. 24 square miles. The whole town is zoned like this. You can golf cart from one end to the other. There are bridges or tunnels under all the main roads. It's funny. The people have been FIGHTING growth in the city, turning away almost one million square feet of retail last year. A new shopping center was just passed yesterday, and the citizens are pissed as hell. Zoning has been the key to success. The one older shopping center built in the 70s is going through a full reskin. The constant interaction of the local government is the key. The citizens are very passionate, much like the people on this forum. If I could get Cincy to embrace this towns passion, the sky is the limit... Man, right on target re Route 4 and Colerain. But for Atlanta there is "Buford Highway" that has that dreary sprawl strip thing going on. I still think Peachtree City is pretty cool. Sort of "improved suburbia". Dayton almost had this with Newfields. For Cincinnati, wasn't "Landin" supposed to be like Peachtree City...a planned suburb at the outer edge of the sprawl?

what I'm saying is "all can hang"... with a bath. The sprawl of WestChester is sad... 1/4 of that money to redevelop downtown HAMILTON! would be amazing. Look at Mason.... mediocre city with a HELL OF A BATH. Same with Loveland... a few years ago, it was "dirty" Milford is slowly getting a bath. Northside is a big "wow" momment. What plagues cincy and ESPECIALLY the rest of Ohio is the Colerain Avenues... the route 4s of Fairfield... just garbage sprawl. You have to see the garbage to get anywhere, and "newer" cities like Atlanta, Houston etc seem to cover this up better... old=dirty... unless you give it a bath... Okay, I disagree with you here. Hyde Park can hang with some of the best neighborhoods in Atlanta. However, as far as other metro-wide amenities, I think you're right.

Peachtree City is considered metro Atlanta... I work in Buckhead. Most Atlantans have no clue where PTC is. The pluses to PTC are - Only 20 minutes from Hartsfield Jackson with no traffic. - Doesn't compete with the northsides rediculous traffic. - Is on a major rail line, with a Chinese coporation "sany" bringing 500-1000 future jobs - Tons of airline employees - Best public schools in georgia - No freeway access which equals very low crime. PTC has refused Marta public transit rail line for this reason - The Weather is great... the gray sky in Ohio bugged me more then snow - Money magazine, etc "Best Places to live" - Meticulous ZONING. Nothing sticks out. You can drive past a 500,000 square foot shopping center and never see it. Lighting is zoned. Business signs... everything. and yes, believe it or not, location and climate are very important to drawing business. Being minutes from the worlds busiest airport has more pluses then minuses. Driving though greater Cleveland or Dayton is borderline depressing to the average American... "grit" is not a recognized word. Cincinnati is a sleeping giant with so much potential its amazing, but it still looks "dirty" to your average joe. Look at rookwood... hyde park... oakley.... what they really needed was a bath... Paint and clean OTR and they will come... Perception is more important than reality many times... which makes Atlanta bump

Zactly. The town has 3 Krogers, 2 Publix a Walmart and Target. Plus a higher end spot with William Sonoma, Banana Republic, Talbot, Black/White market etc etc. There is a BMX track, dog park, 2500 seat amphitheater, Indoor/outdoor pool, roller hocky rink, tennis center with hard/clay and indoor courts, 4 private golf clubs, tons of soccer and baseball fields.. even some with that new turf crap since it's headquartered here... houses from $100k to $4 million... Plus two large lakes with a third on the way... a village set aside JUST for industrial... they did it right...

Out of town guest "wow" spot 3) From the Kenton Hills neighborhood in Covington. Cozy neighborhood with "big city" as backdrop 4) From the plaza at NOTL

from wiki... Peachtree City (zip code 30269) is a city in Fayette County, Georgia, United States. One of the newest planned cities in Georgia, Peachtree City was chartered on March 9, 1959. Founded in 1979 as Peachtree City Development Corp., Pathway Communities has been the principal planner of Peachtree City. The city was developed into four separate villages (Aberdeen, Braelinn, Glenloch and Kedron), each with its own shopping areas, recreational facilities, and elementary schools. Since initial development, the city's amenities have expanded to include four swimming pools, a soccer complex, an ALTA-approved tennis center, baseball, softball, and football fields, a 2,000-seat amphitheater, a BMX track, a senior center, a teen center, numerous parks and playgrounds, and the Kedron Fieldhouse and Aquatic Center. The population was 31,580 at the 2000 census. Census Estimates of 2005 indicate a population of 34,524. In 2007 the city announced a plan to formally annex an unincorporated area between Georgia State Route 74 and the border with Coweta County line that is commonly referred to as "The West Village". The geographic center of Peachtree City is generally considered to be the intersection of Georgia State Route 54 and Georgia State Route 74. Peachtree City has a system of golf cart paths which spider across the town and provide a secondary means of access to almost any destination within city limits. Many places of business have specially designated golf cart parking spaces and the Peachtree City Police Department has several golf carts that patrol along the paths. Many households own a golf cart (9000+ and more than any city in the world), which is used as an extra vehicle for local transportation. Children as young as twelve may operate a cart on Peachtree City cart paths with a parent, grandparent or guardian in the front seat. Unaccompanied fifteen-year-olds with valid Georgia Learner's Permits are allowed to operate golf carts alone. Students at local McIntosh High School are even encouraged to drive their golf carts to school due to limited parking. The golf cart paths are also used by bikers, joggers, and pedestrians as a safer alternative to the side of the road. Peachtree City is home to a small airport, Falcon Field, which hosts a medium-sized airshow every year. The airport is also the location of a National Weather Service radar station and Weather Forecast Office, which serves 96 counties in North and Central Georgia. Peachtree City is also the city of license for WWLG (96.7 FM), a Classic Country radio station that covers the south Atlanta metro area. Peachtree City has been designated a Foreign Trade Zone by the US Customs Service. A Foreign Trade Zone is a site in or near a U.S. Customs port of entry (in this case Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport), designated free of Customs entry procedures. In February 2003, Golf Digest magazine discussed the traffic congestion caused by Peachtree City's 9000+ golf carts in an article entitled "Golf Cart Gridlock". In July 2005, CNN/Money and Money magazine ranked Peachtree City eighth on its list of the 100 Best Places to Live in the United States. Peachtree City has two lakes. The first of which is Lake Kedron to the North which is simply a reservoir that supplies Lake Peachtree to the south via Flat Creek. Lake Kedron is actually owned by the Fayette County Authority despite being completely inside Peachtree City City limits. This is done to keep Lake Peachtree full whenever there is a lack of rain and still allow for recreational use of the lake during droughts. Lake Kedron is not afforded any recreational use except for fishing. Line Creek represents the border between West Peachtree City and Coweta County. Future plans call for Line Creek to be dammed up to form a third lake called Lake McIntosh. Shakerag Hill is the tallest point in the City and it sits at the intersection of GA Hwy 54 and Robinson Road, another street artery of the city. Peachtree City has several golf courses: Flat Creek has 27 holes Braelinn has 18 holes Planterra has 18 holes All three golf courses are owned by Canongate, a golfing association that owns 18 golf courses in Metro Atlanta and 1 in South Carolina covering over 405 holes.

WOO HOO!! GO PEACHTREE CITY! Great city ... www.peachtree-city.org here's a little about Peachtree City I wrote in another post I live in Peachtree City Georgia. We have an estimated 80-120 miles of golfcart paths in town, with over 10,000 registered golf carts. This is not a retirement community. There are 5 villages with their own schools and shopping. Everything is zones so cant see the business from the street. We also have a seperate industrial village with business like NCR, Panasonic, Cooper lighting etc etc. There are 7 elementary schools, 2 middle and 2 high schools in our city. If you visit the local high school, you"ll see hundreds of golf carts in student parking. There are bridges and tunnels all over town for easy access to everything you can do. For the fourth of july, there is even a huge parade with over 150 golf cart floats It's GREAT!
  23. it's a shame... Springdale has the office space but not the tax incentives of West Chester... that's a big blow to Springdale to potentially lose 1400 jobs to Butler county over taxes... same thing happened when Cincinnati Financial left Springdale for tax breaks in Fairfield... kinda sad...
  24. rather see Springdale keep the jobs... this is just silly...
