  1. Yes they are. The Tour de Georgia has kicked off here a few times too.
  2. I'm still a believer in making everything SUPER LOCAL. A trendy Fresh Fare instead of a whole foods. A formal Larossas set up more like a Magianos, but still has a pizza parlor section that stays open late. A new Maisonette. A GIANT Skyline or a place called "CINCINNATI CHILI" that seats 200 when needed. A 24 hour Frisch's instead of a steak and shake. A P & G themed retail outlet. A Chiquita themed smoothie cafe. A Toyota or Honda racing complex. A Bloomingdales (not likely). A Hudy/CM/Sam Adams themed brew pub. A Montgomery inn Cafe. A 3-4 Screen movie theater. Throw in a ESPNZONE and a few national acts and you got a hit.
  3. I live in Peachtree City Georgia. We have an estimated 80-120 miles of golfcart paths in town, with over 10,000 registered golf carts. This is not a retirement community. We have 7 elementary schools, 2 middle and 2 high schools in our city. If you visit the local high school, you"ll see hundreds of golf carts in student parking. There are bridges and tunnels all over town for easy access to everything you can do. For the fourth of july, there is even a huge parade with over 150 golf cart floats It's GREAT!

ok... lets pack up the airport, mainstrauss, NPOTL, Turfway, and everything. This is a metro and doubling up with the same crap is just as ridiculous as moving P&G to covington. Like I stated, Lawrenceburg is closer to downtown and the airport then downtown is to West Chester, Kings Island or Coney Island. My statement about Union Terminal was poorly stated. It's a gem. Why doesn't Kentucky or Lawrenceburg build their own Union Terminal...? To me it's kind of the same logic. We should move Kings Island to Cincinnati too... or we should just built ANOTHER amusement park in Cincy or NKY... whatever
  10. I've always thought it was 37 floors... most publications have stated 37
  11. actually, I loop St Clairsville into that same area... I call it all "rural grit"...
  12. ... I heard on the radio today that they are making the design of the building taller and narrower to make the building appear taller... and the crown is also staying in the design... woo hoo ... good news!

... I just don't get it... THERE ALREADY IS A CASINO IN CINCINNATI!! ... If we had light rail, the Casino in Lawrenceburg would be a 20 minute ride from down town or Tri-County... The Jets, Giants and the damn statue of liberty are in New Jersey. Folks in Los Angelas drive to Vegas like it's one of the Burbs... I'm simply blown away why anyone would think that building a casino in NKY or OTR would make any difference to "Joe Cincinnatian". At least he treats Argosy more like a day trip then driving a few miles across town. This shuffling crap is overkill. We hate to see our historic landmarks, aka Union Terminal... I mean shopping mall... I mean museum raped a pilaged... just like moving Playhouse in the park. WHY WHY WHY.
  14. ... one of my favorite areas in the world... that whole region between Cadiz and Steubenville is a glimpse into an America long gone. Rural as can be but with strong eastern european ties... from coal miners, steel workers to gangsters, I love that area. There are some charming little towns off the beaten path... railroad line torn out... abandoned tunnels and tressels... from Smithfield to Hopedale, to the red brick streets of Adena and the tiny hollow of Piney Fork. ... and you drive to the big city (Cadiz), the home of Clark Gable, to get a wonderful DiCarlos pizza... ... I've been to every state and around the world and the unique charm of this little area still makes me smile...

...it's funny... since atlanta lacks the architechture of cincy, most of these homes are knock downs built for the rich... which the local historic society is trying to put a halt to. My best friend lives in this hood... not only does it have the charm and grit of a trendy young neighborhood, it has some of the finest, most established high end restaraunts in town... if I didn't have a kid, L5P would be home... just a great place...
  16. this is my favorite Atlanta scraper... I always thought this building would look wonderful in the Nati... at night it has the same glow as the carew...the crown is very fitting...
  17. well... they got it done with Atlantic station down here in Atlanta... tons of residential... shopping... a grocery... PLUS a draw for the region... the Banks SHOULD be the same...

was that shot from Rancho Palos Verdes?? That looks like the house I was partying at a few weeks back...
  19. NO NO NO!! Cincinnati already has slots... it's called Lawrenceburg... if we had mass transit, a train ride from downtown would be closer to Lawrenceburg then Kings Island/ATP Tennis Center, Jungle Jims or Riverbend. And sadly Cincinnatians are a creature of location. People from the north shop Tri-County... the east, Eastgate/Beechemont... etc etc... one rarely goes out of their region for anything... but... Lawrenceville has the mythical attraction of being "out of town"... it's a destination for locals, unlike a Bengals/Reds game which is in the city proper. How many gambling spots are not local destinations besides Vegas and AC... What Cincy really needs to deal with is that they are a region... not a city. It's a gem that 1 out of 20 locals truely understand... and Lawrenceburg and southeast Indiana is part of Cincinnatis charm as much as Northern Kentucky...
  20. what part of "unique" shopping did you miss... if it's not in the burbs, put it downtown. Hell, somebody put the Bloomingdales flag back up... THAT would be great...
  21. I grew up in Cincy, and lived in Orange County for 10 years (home of cheesy fake downtowns). Personally OTR is the #1 jewell in the US. BUT... Atlantic Station as cheesy as it is ROCKS. The urban set up surrounded by residential... a major draw like IKEA etc etc... think the Carew Tower over six blocks... all self contained... movies, groceries, retail... Atlantic station has major SHOPPING, major Entertainment... and most of all PEOPLE... I hate cheesy shit like this, but I find myself there a few times a month... and I live 45 minutes away...
  22. ...what about a Jerry Springer, Hustler etc type of thing.... something edgier but tasteful. We already have a reds museum. Downtown needs some edge. Maybe a "Scores Cincinnati" Can't see an interest in a sports museum. now on a more serious note, what about an elevated conservetory and botanical gardens like the one that was once proposed for Fountain Square West??
  23. We can always move the "MUSEUM OF CREATION" there.... BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
  24. Oklahoma State ROCKS!! Go Bearcats!
