  1. no hard rock... we have enough crap in Cincinnati for "old" people. Hard Rock is so "80s" and is no better than hooters. If we go commercial, a ESPN Zone, Barnes and Nobles, all upscale retail from Crate and Barrel, William Sonoma to "flagship" local eateries like a SUPER Skyline, Mega Graeters, UDF MAX... or a NEW Maisonette.... a LaRossas Pizza and Deli, Montgomery in Express for quick ribs for Bengal/Reds games. Make it as local as possible. Make the non local businesses UNIQUE draws to the region...

Big article in the Wall Street Journal today... about the success of the company and how they're dealing with multiple mall points around the country after the takeovers. The showed South Coast Plaza in Orange County had THREE Macy's (Macy's, Macy's Men, and a furniture store) , while they're shutting down the overflow in Columbus...

  5. Just curious...what is ikea age? Ikea age is when the MOMs that are shopping are still real HOT...
  6. went to IKEA again today.... bought some kitchenware, pots, mirrors etc... seem to be going there at least once a month... I was heading for whole foods and it was down the street... by the way, it's about a 45 minute drive for me... and well worth it...
  7. Wow... I feel the exact opposite. My father is a deppression era good ole boy from between Cadiz and Stuebenville and even his pain in the but ass thinks IKEAs quality is first rate... I've been nothing but impressed..
  8. I use to go to the Ikea in Tustin Ranch all the time... A while back when the discussion was about the banks developer, I brought up Atlantic Station in Atlanta... which would be awesome for the banks since the whole project is built above parking garages... I forgot to mention that one of the anchors is an IKEA which I frequent all the time... AND WHAT A DRAW.... the place is always packed... just bought some office furniture there this weekend... I probably go there at least once a month... here's their website http://www.atlanticstation.com/... love the question on the homepage "what stores would you like to see" SO I SAY... build it at the BANKS... what a draw for downtown... oh... by the way... the whole "the district" section is above 3 stories of parking which you can see for I-75...

  11. ... my friends use to laugh when they visited. Just a few short years ago, Cincy was almost completely Cincy. They had no Idea from the west coast what a... 5/3 vs Chase Star Bank vs B of A Krogers vs Safeway United Dairy Farmers vs 7/11 Skyline vs McDonalds Perkins vs Waffle House Bob Evans vs IHOP Larossas vs Pizza Hut White Castles vs McDonalds Graeters vs Ben and Jerrys Goetta vs Sausage Please vs excuse me Lazarus vs Macy's Mcalpins vs Robinson May Kings Island vs 6 Flags ... they where more inpressed in the details that make cincy, CINCY that it almost overshadowed the great city itself... we were staying in Covington at the Marriot and my english buddy almost kicked this guys ass because he kept saying that there was a Genie (ATM) that gives out tens ($10) on this block. He thought the guy was talking about a hooker...

  18. so is Cincinnati and Cleveland...
  19. Cleveland Browns and Indians!
  20. I visited the Atlanta Station project that was done by one of the developers... I've driven by it a few times, never stopping there, but me and my wife spent the afternoon there yesterday.... living in Orange County for ten years, I'm fairly bored with the "fake" downtown look and lifestyle setup... but this was REALLY NICE... I'm shocked!!... ... it's built entirely above a parking structure... roughly 6 to 8 blocks, is intimate like a modern OTR... they even built streets THROUGH project... the key was 4 to 6 stories of residential above everything.... lots of unique high end retail from Z Gallery, Black/White clothing etc etc... and even a Dillard's anchor on one end and a grocery store on the other... a block away is more residentail with an urban lake and bridge kinda like the twin lakes in Eden park if they were surrounded by 6 story urban apts... ... i think this would go GREAT at the banks... people and unique shopping would at a vibrancy Cincy hasn't seen in 35 years....

[flash=200,200] I still believe that if they built a 25K arena on the River in northern Kentucky, called the team the KENTUCKY Cats, team colors were blue etc, etc... there would be a huge draw from the Cincy metro to all of Kentucky... with Cincys corporate presence and kentuckys rabid basketball fever, I think it's a no brainer... imagine an arena where that goofy tower was suppose to go...
  23. Cincinnati??? you're kidding...
  24. perferct project that should be moved to he BANKS downtown...
