  1. at 9 Sunday most restaurants in the suburbs are closed, too, if even open that day.
  2. While Nordstrom Rack is a "discounted" store, I wouldn't characterize it as a "discount" store like TJ Maxx or Marshalls are, as a whole. A "discount" here can mean that the pair of shoes you have your eye on is now $199, not $399. At TJ Maxx, shoes might be $19.99 instead of $39.99. Anyway, the former Borders at the Promenade has been the rumored Rack location for some time. If opening next fall, it will mean Cleveland gets Rack #2 about the time that Columbus gets their Rack #1, at the new Easton Market.
  3. 327: Great info - but I'm sure its flawed, 'cause it's too perfect, otherwise. It's obvious the "residents" argument means nothing. A shoping center like Beachwood Place or Crocker Park considers its trade area to be 600-700K+ within, say, 20-30 minutes. And we're supposed to beleive that Tower City puts its tipping point at, say, 10,000 to 20,000, etc... downtown residents? Baloney.
  4. Bye, bye Phil the Fire. noticed a dark space tonight driving by and came home to see PD story of its closing. Nearly 9,000 ft space would be hard for a major chain, let alone Phil.
  5. Symon bought the building next to Lolita, not Lola, for butcher shop, per CLE Mag article found online...
  6. Don't know about Dave's but know for a fact that Home Depot is trying to move to Oakwood Commons, as is nearby Target, though current layout does not have necessary acreage (24?) they need, but....
  7. Joey1320. Though I like Momocho a lot more than you did on your visit, you are totally spot on on one key thing.. I, too, find Momocho's use of run of the mill, pre-made (and tasteless) corn tortillas almost inexcusable. It's akin to a gourmet burger place putting their custom, hand-ground burger on a 5 cent, white bread, McDonald's hamburger bun... I'm sure making them in their small space isn't as easy as buying them in a plastic bag, but it just seems kind of lazy, especially given their independent cred. They also have their margaritas pre-mixed and pour them as you order them, instead of mixing each one by hand as you order them. Sure, they may have made a whole batch an hour earlier behind their bar, but even many of the UO-reviled chains mix each and every cocktail, by hand, one at a time...
  8. i would not characterize the vacant retail space in Cleveland as any more or less than the vacant retail space in any similarly sized town. Especially on the east side.
  9. Realize it is just opened - and some tweaking to do. Screaming for large scale sculputures and art on floor and walls. As for the "life" that space needs to keep it from seeming dead, where's the water feature to create both movement and sound?
  10. Supports are gone, but garage still shakes and doesn't give me a good feeling... On a related note, apparently Target wants out and has been discussing options at an under-construction, nearby development. What happens to University Square when it's just Macy's and a few others, is anybody's guess.
