Youngstown: Restaurant News & Info
mrniles replied to YtownNewsandViews's post in a topic in Restaurants, Local Events, & Entertainment:wtf: The Mahoning Valley needs a restaurant topic of it's own. What do you think? I'll start a topic. What happened to the three Rotelli Grills? I heard one was a Chipotle? A sports bar,Jerimira Bulfrog,(Antone's operators), was going into the farther out Giant Eagle-Liberty plaza? The owners themselves, said this on a AM morning show on TV. I thought Rotelli was doing good. There already is a long time Antone's, a few miles down the street, in front of the new Walmart. Do they need both? The Giant Eagle location is not that big. Sports bar people are different than a nice restaurant atmosphere, aren't they?

Cleveland: Transit Ideas for the Future
There are a lot of projects, both exhisting and future projects. What about doing a lot of traffic light synchronizing to get the present Shaker rail lines moving faster? Get a "Feeder" bus system (easy to use, frequent) and map reserected to feed all rapid lines. (Red,Green, Blue). We have a lot of people using the rapids. They need to be repeat customers. They could do the traffic signals on heavy bus lines.

Cleveland: HealthLine / Euclid Corridor
:wtf: I haven't heard anything about the synchronized traffic light problem along Euclid Ave. Has anything been fixed yet?

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
:wtf: I Looked at the new schedule for the Green/Blue line. There is no South Harbor(Waterfront) times for the Weekday. It's there for the Saturday-Sunday schedule. I thought the Waterfront line runs on Weekdays?

Non-Ohio Light Rail / Streetcar News
:-) I see the Flexity has the operator cabs at each end. That means no loops are needed. Can they also go up hills, like Euclid Hts. Blvd.?

Non-Ohio Light Rail / Streetcar News
:wtf: :wtf: Reply # 123 from light rail outside of Ohio. TTC new streetcar: What if Cleveland got one to test? What are the different types of services that could be offered now? As I understand, a streetcar can run on light rail track, but light rail cars are different and can't be run on streetcar track. Explain please? Crossposted to light rail outside of Ohio.

:wtf: With through running of the Blue and Green line trains to the WFL, would that do anything for the congestion of Red,Blue, and Green line trains using the same trackage?

Cleveland: Jack Cleveland Casino

Latest Trolleybus news from the UK
:-) Go to tbus.org.uk/news.htm. This is the latest ideas on Trolleybuses. Check out the very first graphic. It shows the futuristic TBus with the addition of wind machines to produce power for some of the TBuses or even rail systems, (my idea). Don't we have enough wind coming off the lake in Cleveland? (And not from politicians?) Couldn't we use the Sun also? Also, the Cloud one is something we could use in Cleveland.

Cleveland Waterfront Line Extension / Downtown Loop
:wtf: :wtf: Is there anything that can be done, now, with the Waterfront line? I think it was stated before, that Red line trains could not make the curves on it. Is that true? How could the West side trains get over to the Waterfront line, or is that impossible without spending money? What could be done with the old Shaker station? If there is some kind of future expansion,(???) Streetcars to West side, commuter rail, Health line conversion to come into Tower City, Duel Mode rail cars, Duel Mode Trolleybuses running together in Tower City.

Cleveland: Transit Ideas for the Future
:wtf: What about the the (old idea, been around for a while) of the Duel-Mode Electric Trolley busses for the above routes to feed the Rapids? Some with Limited stops for faster service, and traffic signal priority. Simple modern wiring. Use wind, solar to help power the TB system. Use Detroit-Superior subway deck for buses and any future light rail or streetcar service. Anyone have some comments?

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
Fare Evation: Simple idea. Return turnstiles to the Red line. Should never have been removed. Maybe have a station manager incharge of keeping each station working. Have servailence cameras. Electronic smart cards. Health Line: At heavy, used, stations: Put in mini turnstiles with a paid waiting area. I saw this done in a couple of busways in South America. Smart cards.

Cleveland: Transit Ideas for the Future
Like many people, I would like to see some form of Public transit on the bridge. Just a thought, couldn't the deck be remodeled to include rails for future Streetcar service, and a roadway for a guided Trolleybus system. For example,Westside routes that are heavily traveled, but do not justify any rail service at present. High volume routes to feed the Red Line or other lines.

Port Authority of Alleghney County, Pittsburgh, Pa. Whoops!
I forgot, the Light Rail operators did a slowdown recently also.

Port Authority of Alleghney County, Pittsburgh, Pa. Whoops!
There must have been some labor problems between bus drivers and the cash strapped, over fare increased, and service cut, transit authority, PAT. Saturday was the Steelers game. Special services was to set up in outlying areas. The drivers list was all set. But just before the game, some drivers called off sick. There was an E-mail to one station I heard about around 2PM. Not enough time to get the news out to all. There were people left waiting. The drivers were getting paid very well for working the specials. If someone finds more news, please let us know.

All Aboard Ohio
What about moving the Youngstown meeting times around, like in the evening or on Saturday? You want people to attend. Some people have to work. That is first priority for me.

Amtrak & Federal: Passenger Rail News
In KJP's #1787, "Train Shuffling." Can you explain a little more about what would be needed to be put back into place to make this schedule happen. I see there is a Ravenna-Kent stop, Youngstown, and New Castle stop. Do you need the Ravenna Connection for this? I like the Cleveland,Youngstown, New Castle, Pittsburgh (4 Hr.) connection. It's still a connection. It's better than we have now.

Greater Youngstown WRTA News & Discussion
:?I was at the WRTA station this afternoon to take my cousin to catch the Greyhound to Columbus. I saw people waiting for buses. I can's see where all those people are. Each bus had a few people on it. They use big buses. 5:10PM and 5:40PM are the last buses on Saturday. Only half the routes for each time. They should be running on Saturday night also. People have to have cars to get to work. There is a lot of restaurants, hospitals, hotels, etc. No transportation. But they got a Mahoning county levey passed. They have plenty of extra big buses not moving people. They got quite a few small buses that can do the routes.

Greater Youngstown WRTA News & Discussion
Since they passed the levy, the Warren, Niles, Youngstown bus has been eliminated. The number of passengers was coming up.
