This is ridiculous.. What a hideous grouping of buildings. The city should let them demolish the buildings and build something new. That stretch is arguably the ugliest downtown. Although, Euclid is putting up a good fight east of E. 9th.
This may be an exciting pie in the sky idea, but this is a horrible non-sustainable idea. Not to mention an eyesore that would undoubtedly be shifted to the taxpayer..
The reason Cleveland is making a comeback is because of realistic endeavors.. Not skytrams. Envision a 10 degree January day with 25 mph winds coming off the lake. Are you climbing in a skytram to ride along an ice laden wire? Heck no! Sell crazy someplace else.
You might be right about that. The current stadium is approaching 15 years. It seems that the newer stadiums have a life of 20-30 years. that's why I'm kind of surprised that Haslam is investing $100MM in the existing stadium. If he used those funds and combined them with a new Refunding and Revenue Bond issue that would be used to pay off the '95 Bonds and a new stadium. I don't think a new stadium would be out of the question. I'm sure the rates on the 1995 Bonds are considerably higher than the rates today. I own muni bonds with 30-40 year maturities that are only paying 4% (recent issues). Most Bond issues from the '90's have been refunded at lower long term rates available today.
Wow. Are we seriously discussing a new Browns Stadium? I can assure you that this conversation can be tabled for at least 15-20 years. Keep dreaming, but it most certainly is not happening anytime soon.
Agreed. Don't overlook the fact that consolidation in a few areas (i.e W25th, Flats, etc.) is not necessarily more beneficial than the growth of other areas.. I think there is far to much critique of the location.
Does anyone know the status of the new rapid station on the border of Little Italy and University Circle?
Answered my own question.
