Akron - Random Part 3
Great pics andrew0816! Thanks for posting. I can remember going down to Lock 2 Park (the one with the waterfalls) when I was little. We used go stare at the waterfalls and then head over to the BBQ joint on Main St (gone now, sat where Canal Park now sits) and my dad would get me and my sis juice boxes before heading home. Ahh... the memories.

Akron - Random Part 1
Great to see some pics of my hometown. I really, REALLY HATE that tacky FirstMerit sign on First National Tower... WTF!!! I noticed it when I was down there a couple weeks ago. I almost ran off the road from staring at the ugly thing! Desicrating one of my favorite scrapers... shame on FirstMerit... SHAME!!! OK, now that I'm done with my little rant, great pics. :-)

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
 I can't believe this rediculous saga is finally over. At least the best decision was made, certainly didn't see that coming. It's a relief to know that we're a step closer to getting the CC/MM actually built.

Cleveland: Historic Photos
Hard to believe that's Shaker Square in that pic with no mature trees. Great pics, though the last one makes me a little sad. Hard to fathem all the neighborhoods that were lost or disected in the name of "progress".

Cleveland - WinterFest Weekend 08'
I went down there with my wife and kids. Had a great time, kids really enjoyed themselves. I couldn't believe all the people that were in Tower City! We got off the Rapid and from there till you got out to Public Square it was pretty much a sea of bodies. I loving experiencing the city during the holidays. Some of my favorite memories are visiting the O'Neils department store in DT Akron when I was a kid. We'd watch the parade, then everyone would file into O'Neils, go up the escalators, and then wait in line to see Santa. Going to the mall at Christmas time just can't beat the memories of being downtown during the holiday season IMO.

Cleveland's University Circle, Midtown, and nearby under construction
I was on the Red Line a few weeks ago and saw the new Juve Center construction; wasn't sure what it was at the time. Love seeing all the projects going up on that side of town.

Youngstown: Descent into Darkness
Excellent slideshow Ytown Steel. It's amazing to think that only 50 years ago, things were pretty good in Youngstown; almost unimaginable how things can change so quickly.

CLEVELAND - Take a trip on the Healthline (new BRT route)

The Official *I Love Cleveland* Thread
^ Same thing I was thinking :? My parents had a peach tree in their garden, but I've never really known Ohio to be much of a peach producer.

The Official *I Love Cleveland* Thread
Saw this in the paper this morning. Nice to see the PD put together a piece acknowledging the praise Cleveland gets from areas outside of our region.

Where do you live in Cleveland / Cuyahoga County?
^I feel ya. My wife was born an east sider, so crossing the river wasn't an option. Not originally being from the Cleveland area, I really had no real strong bias towards east or west, but she would never consider moving to the dark, I mean, west side

Where do you live in Cleveland / Cuyahoga County?
I've lived in Cleve Hts. for about a year. Looked between Shaker Sq., Shaker Hts., and Cleve Hts. Found a house we loved on the Shaker-Cleve border in the Ludlow neighborhood, but unfortunately it wasn't meant to be. Eventually found our current abode in Cleve Hts. My wife and I chose Cleve Hts mainly due to our kids. We were drawn to downtown living, but with the kiddies, we more drawn to having a yard. Cleve Hts really gave us what we wanted; it close to all the urban ammeneties we like, it's walkable, close to public transportation, and it's safe.

Cleveland Gladiators Discussion
I watched the game last night. I've never been a big fan of AFL football, but I'm kind of psyched about a Cleveland team possibly winning it all. They certainly have the best chance at present moment. I think I'll definantly take my boys to the Q to see a game next year, looks like a very exciting version of football. Go Gladiators!!!

Akron - Under Construction

City of the Summit!
THAT building? The former Motor lodge turned ratty senior citizens center? I think that was demolished because the foundation was in dilapidated beyond repair. Yeah I believe it was torn down last year. The parking deck underneath the building hadn't been used in years because it was literally crumbling, pretty scary to think that the building was still being used with the deck below in such disrepair. Love the pics of Canal Place (former BFG complex). I grew up around the corner from there and me and my brother used to go exploring through the complex before many of the buildings were converted for re-use. It was amazing see how many of the buildings were left as if the workers were going to be back later for another shift. Tires were still on some of the conveyer belts, much of the machinery was still there. Kind of an eery feeling. I remember peering in through the windows of the AES building before it was renovated; hard to believe it's the same building now. Great tour and great pics!

First Visit to Cleveland (Day 4 of 4)
Great tour. Enjoyed all 4 threads and the pics were great. I've never seen that building on top of that old bridge; pretty cool.

WSJ: "The Self-Inflicted Economic Death of Ohio"
I have to agree, he does make some good points. Honestly, I've found myself in the last few years really questioning whether to stay or go. I've made the choice to remain at this point, but it is a little frustrating at times watching a state with all of our resources just limping along like Ohio is.
