Light-Up Cleveland - BP Tower
Welcome to the board. It looks so weird seeing pics of just the Terminal Tower and BP with no Key Tower.

Greatest misconceptions about your city
Many out-of-towners seemed to be surprised at how big Akron is. Since it's probably the lesser known of the big Ohio cities, many people assume that it's pretty small.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
I've just come to deal with the fact that God does not like Cleveland sports. A freak accident like this on the second day of training camp when they are not even in full pads can only happen to a Cleveland franchise.

West Side wandering, Part I: destination Edgy-water Park

Akron: Razing Innerbelt to Create Biomedical Cluster
Damn, how did I miss this in today's paper. Great to hear, I hadn't heard anything in a while about Plusquellic's plans for the northern end of the innerbelt. Can't wait to see this project get moving, I'm more than ready to see the land this under-utilized highway sits on be better used to continue the revitalization of the region's economy.

Welcome to East St. Louis
Holy Sh*t! I knew E. St. Louis was rough, but damn. Between E. St. Louis and Gary, IN, those have to be a couple of the grittiest cities I've seen. I remember just driving through on the freeway through Gary on my way to Chicago and you could tell it was a gritty place. I can only imagine what it would've been like had I exited the freeway and gotten to explore some of the neigborhoods.

Akron: UA Infocision Stadium
I can't wait till this thing gets built. I used to go to a lot of games at the Rubber Bowl when I was a kid (my dad was employed by the U of A); at that time, I thought is was the coolest place. Then in high school, I played a few games out there and began to realize how crappy the place is. Having the stadium closer to downtown will not only be a nice boost for the city, but will also help generate more excitement on campus for the football team. When I attended the U of A, hardly anyone went to the football games since the Rubber Bowl is not easily accessable from campus. A lot of my friends who were from out of town didn't even know where it was, I can't count the number of times I tried giving people directions to get there.

Cleveland - next UrbanOhio forum meet will be....
Sounds like you all had a good time. I really wanted to come, but my schedule for the next year is insane, so free time is hard to come by. Certainly hope to make it to the next one.

Oh.My.God.
That is freaky. I had a weird situation, though I don't think it was someone following me; it was just strange. I was in the stall in the restroom at work taking care of some business when I noticed a guy come in a peer in through the space between the stall door and the wall to see if it was occupied. Since that happens all the time, I didn't think anything of it. The weird thing though was that the two stalls next to me were both unoccupied at the time and instead of the guy going to one of the other two, he left the restroom. That prompted me to look around the stall to see if maybe he had forgotten anything; there was nothing laying around, so I just assumed that the guy had some weird attatchment to that particular stall and I continued my business. Shortly afterwards, the guy comes back and begins peering into the stall again. Again, there was no one in either of the two other stalls, yet the guy left the restroom. He then came back a third time, repeated the same thing, except this time you tell he was a bit irritated. He moaned and grumbled something under his breath and again left the restroom; again, there was nothing left in the stall and the two stalls next to me were both empty. When he left the restroom this time, he slammed the restroom door shut. Again, the only thing I can assume is that the guy had some weird emotional connection with that stall :? (The sad thing is, I think I could tell who it was; I always want to give him a weird look whenever I see him now).

Metro Akron-Canton: Road & Highway News
Not really transportation related, but it does regard one of the major roadways connecting the Norh Hill neighborhood of Akron and downtown. From the Akron Beacon Journal 5/31/2006 City may fence in bridge By Delano R. Massey Beacon Journal staff writer Gazing at a scrapbook filled with poems, pictures and other things that make her smile and giggle because they jog her memories of her son, Carolyn Conley released a sigh. ``We would have sold our souls to get this kid back on his feet,'' she said of her youngest son, Kevin. Clinching a coffee mug with both hands, Robert Conley, 56, absorbed his wife's words as the couple sat in the living room of their West Akron home. ``It was like a five-year war,'' he said. ``Some battles you won, some you lost. The biggest one we lost.'' That loss came about 5:30 p.m. on March 30 when Kevin Conley, 20, took his own life. A woman saw Kevin smiling as he walked by himself on the south side of Akron's All-America Bridge, commonly known as the Y-Bridge... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Staff writer John Higgins contributed to thisarticle. Ohio's Discount Stores
Click... ah, that brings back memories. It was like a smaller scale version of today's Super Wal-Marts. They sold everything from grocery's to shoes/clothes, pets, toys. I remember how me and my sister would always get lost in the toy section and my mom would have to have them announce our names on the P.A. system to come to the Customer Service desk. Man, that seems way back.

33 pics, and I'm 33 no more
Have a great 34th MayDay and a safe trip as well. ^ That's E. 4th St in downtown Cleveland. It's a fairly new entertainment district that is home to The House of Blues along with several other establishments. I'll let one of the Cleveland forumers give you more details.
