  1. as if they could not do this under Frank Jackson. They waited for Bibb to throw this at him as he enters office.
  2. Being fiscally responsible is table stakes as a Mayor. That's like making sure your check book is balanced.
  3. Yes, what great exposure for Cleveland!
  4. The forces in Cleveland and beyond that fought for the RRHOF to be in Cleveland should be proud to watch this.

This "if Bibb were really a smart guy" statement is bothersome to me as it has undertones that are unnecessary! Is Kelly a smart guy having served 8 years as counsel president and had the power to change the narrative for the city? They are both smart, but have opposing views. Tomorrow will tell a lot about who the people think is the smartest to lead the city moving forward!

It will be nice to see Bibb clean house of these lifers that have kept the city stagnant for so long. Sandra Williams endorsement slams the door shut! It says a great deal about what leaders think about Kelly that he has been in Council for 16 years and all the major endorsements went to a 34 year old with no history in politics (Crain's, the PD, Mike White, Jane Campbell, the pastors, Zack Reed, Sherrod Brown, Nina Turner to name a few). This is literally a butt whipping!

I just watched and Kelly came off as angry to me! Bibb is a better communicator and seemed to irritate Kelly. I do not at all see a path forward for Kelly to win this election.

I watched the Town Hall on YouTube and Kelly knows the issues, but has not demonstrated the leadership to be able to drive and execute progressive solutions to the issues the city faces. He is a nice guy, but I find him to be virtually the same old Cleveland politics and feel the city would benefit from a fresh perspective. I do not see Kelly connecting with black east side residents or pushing the city forward to be more competitive with peer cities. Conversely, I do see Bibb connecting with west side and younger residents well.
  9. Regardless of the developer and how things proceed, It says a lot about downtown Cleveland that a W Hotel wants to enter the market.
  10. I'm impressed with how (even in tough times) prideful people are to keep the city moving forward in a positive way. Of course there will always be ways to improve, but who would have imagined the transformation of Euclid Ave, Public Square, Ohio City, Tremont, University Circle and the recent investments in Hough, Fairfax and Glenville. I hope the new mayoral leadership can serve as a vital lynchpin to help advance the momentum.

    Love Riding in Central Park!
  12. From the renderings, I view this new building as potentially being the most attractive tower in downtown. It will dramatically freshen up the skyline which is sorely needed.

It's not about age, from my perspective it is who is equipped to uplift the city, offer an executable vision for growth (schools and business), navigate the old school politics to lead Cleveland to a more stable path forward.

Cleveland needs fresh perspective. For instance, simply look at the city of cleveland website https://www.clevelandohio.gov No one felt the need to bring this up to speed over nearly 16 years under Jackson. The city does not need another mayor to be applauded for balancing the budget during challenging times. That's table stakes, we all do that. Cleveland is trending up and my view is a younger fresh perspective may be a good thing.

Bibb is trying to win and it appears that White will be campaigning for him. Do not underestimate how good White is as a communicator (watching the press conference, White can still talk circles around any of the candidates including Mayor Jackson's Kelly endorsement) and how well he will connect with east side voters. Regardless of what one thinks of White, I view this is a significant win for Bibb. Much more significant than Mary Rose Ockar.
  16. Nice to see his enthusiasm for Cleveland.
  17. Truly appreciate everyone opposing views. That's what makes the forum great. It clearly looks better, I don't see the final product as being impressive. I'm not talking about all the work that went into the renovation (which I'm not qualified to talk about). I'm just not impressed with the final product.
  18. While it is an improvement, the bar for improvement was very low. I would have preferred to see this tore down and something more modern in its place. Cleveland has way to many of these gray cast buildings and they make the city look very dreary and old. Look at the impact the Luman makes in making the skyline look fresh. I love how other cities such as DC add a modern aspect to renovation of older building (by using glass and extending vertically over the renovated older building). That huge neon sign is looks extremely gaudy and the most eastern building simply look cheap!

  20. Thanks tykaps, appreciate the insight. Ohio City once had the same issue but figured it out. There needs to be a plan the does the same in black neighborhoods or the city will continue to have a few white gentrified neighborhoods on the west side and predominantly poor communities on the east side outside university circle.
  21. I ask again, why do most developments in predominantly black neighborhoods continue to look like this? Why can't these neighborhoods have a development plan that that brings in development that brings in a income bracket such what has been done in Ohio City? Continuing to build subsidized housing in low income neighborhoods exacerbates the problem.
  22. No one should be surprised the vacancy rate has increased with the new supply in the market. Vacancies will decrease as downtown is still a very attractive place to live. it may take a bit longer given the pandemic.
  23. I view this building as the most transformative building since Key Tower. It's clean, modern and beautifully done. Chicago is an example of a city that has a great mix between traditional and modern architecture. I really appreciate cities that have both. Sherwin Williams really has the opportunity to move Cleveland in that direction.
