  1. ^ lol yeah, gotta love that moat which literally goes right up against the sidewalk on Euclid without fencing. When I was a student at CSU, I should've "accidentally" fallen down there. I could've gotten a nice settlement - no student debt!
  2. Now all we need is that new tower on the Playhouse Square lot, and a new Urban Affairs building that abuts the whole stretch of Euclid between E. 17th and E. 18th (preferably with retail).
  3. ^ That's awesome, and it's about time! Is there even a rendering of the proposed building there? Will there be any retail?

Why the hell would they absolutely rule out the potential site in Garfield Heights? That one seems like an equally viable choice, just without the environmental concerns.
  5. Yeah that Columbus Free Press "analysis" was garbage. NEOBuckeye's was much better. I really think Coleman might be one of the best shots the Dems have. It's a pity he doesn't seem to be interested. Maybe he's just waiting on the sidelines, and will enter the race if someone like Cordray doesn't?
  6. So if I had to make a top 3 list of the Democrats' strongest statewide players, I'd probably say Richard Cordray, Michael Coleman, and Jennifer Brunner. Right now it seems like none of them are interested in running (though I guess the jury is still out on Cordray).
  7. I think Richard Cordray would make a great candidate, but on the other hand, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has become a huge target and has become highly politicized so I wonder if that would hurt him. Does anyone think Mike Coleman would make a good candidate? He has name recognition and was a popular mayor over a quickly growing city for pretty long period of time. Admittedly, I'm a bit removed from Columbus politics so I don't know much about him aside from that. On paper, though, he sounds like he could have a decent chance.
  8. So far, women are dominating the Democratic field between Whaley, Pillich, and Sutton! This race is going to be a big one to watch in 2018. There are already so many serious candidates who have declared on both sides. I know it's early, but who is even considered the front-runner for either side at this point?
  9. ^ Unfortunately the overlay district does not cover the Midland Steel site's frontage on Madison.
  10. I wonder when someone will start building on the lot southeast of Detroit and W. 28th. That seems like the last major puzzle piece for that part of the neighborhood (aside from Lutheran's massive parking lot of course).

I would wholeheartedly throw my support behind Ronayne if he announced a run (especially considering our current crappy field of candidates). But what are the odds he'll actually throw his name in the ring, especially with only a few months left in the race?
  12. ^ That's awesome. I can't wait for the day that all the gaps are filled on W 25th between Detroit and Lorain.
  13. Agree, there should be a mandatory cost-benefit analysis with government held properties. Anyhow, glad to see the three preferred options all embrace Detroit in a good way. I have it on good authority that CMSD received a bid for the land that was RIH-DIH-CUE-LUSS It's so stupid that they didn't even consider taking that - or at least considered selling off part of the site in favor of a school with more stories. Think of how many new computers and other things they could buy for their schools with that money.
  14. Well, at least they improved the design. I still wish they would've sold half the site to a developer and then built their new school with a few extra stories, but it seems too late for that now. I'm glad it looks like they're keeping the entire parking lot in the back, away from Detroit Ave.
  15. This may have already been mentioned, but is there currently a plan to extend Father Frascati to W. 70th St (just south of the proposed new phase of townhomes)?
