Cleveland: Little Italy: Development and News
^ Ugh. There's so much vacant developable space in this city and people are still tearing down charming old buildings that could easily be renovated.

Cleveland: Downtown Office Buildings Updates
Yes, the city is making some exceptions but they probably have to get special approval for it. I hope it doesn't become very common.

Cleveland: Downtown Office Buildings Updates
^ Zoning would probably prohibit any excessive signage on office buildings.

Westlake: Crocker Park
Maybe this is karma for American Greetings choosing the burbs instead of downtown :-P Joking aside, I'm glad no one was hurt. The explosion looked pretty scary on that video. I wonder how much this will delay construction.

Cleveland: Downtown Office Buildings Updates
It sounds like SW has been using the word "tower" in casual internal conversations, MM the word "campus". Meh (at MM, not the SW tower which would be awesome). I hope MM isn't planning on a sprawling suburban campus. It's still possible to have a campus-like setting in a downtown area. Maybe they could take that spot near Flats East Bank that Eaton was previously looking at before moving to the burbs.

Cleveland Planning Commission
When Geis released the first plans for the Midtown Tech Park, it featured a rather large suburban-style front lawn. It had to be explained to him that they would have to change the design to match the zoning. He didn't seem to understand the concept. I'm not sure if these original plans were actually released to the public, but I've heard this from a pretty reliable source.

Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway: Battery Park
The factory/warehouse property between 70th and 73rd has started to come down. It looked almost halfway demolished when I passed by this morning.

Cleveland: Downtown Office Buildings Updates
Sad thing is this building probably used to have a beautiful facade. From what I understand it was "modernized" in the 40s or 50s to look like how we see it today.

Cleveland / Lakewood: The Edge Developments
Speculation has been they are moving into the old PNC. I wonder what that old Starbucks will turn into? I hope someone demolishes it and builds some apartments there. I'm not a fan of that building, or the way it fails to interact with the street/sidewalk.

Cleveland: Upper Chester: Development and News
^ So, does this mean the Rite-Aid across the street may be open for development, since Walgreens bought Rite-Aid? I would love to see that property developed properly, but I'm also skeptical because it's such a new building.

Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway: Battery Park
Where will the pool be? Rooftop? Tucked away behind the building? I think as long as it's not visible from the street, it makes no difference.

Cleveland: Downtown: Mall Development and News
Just terrible. I'm not usually one to have such dramatic reactions to public art, but we can't let this happen on our Mall. Shouldn't LAND studio know what decent art looks like?

Cleveland: Downtown: Mall Development and News
^ Is that for real? It's absolutely horrible. I would hate to see that on our mall.

Cleveland: Downtown: Playhouse Square Development and News
I would assume they would do storefronts on Euclid to mask the fact that it's a garage and to bring in more retail/restaurant space. Well yeah of course they'll have storefronts. I'm talking about the upper floors of the garage. It would be so much better to have apartment windows facing the street on the lower levels of the tower. On most streets, I'd be fine with a garage, but this is Euclid which I think we should hold to pretty high standards.

Cleveland: Downtown: Playhouse Square Development and News
^ Hm, I'm not sure why I thought it was Geis. Must be mixing up projects. Still, my sentiment stands. 600 spaces is a lot, but I still think it might be possible to keep the parking garage section away from Euclid.
-
Cleveland: Downtown: Playhouse Square Development and News
I'd hate to see another parking garage go up on Euclid. It would be very possible to build a garage pedestal set back from Euclid, and then build the tower in the space between Euclid and the garage, and also on top of the garage. I have a feeling Geis never even thought about that, though.

Cleveland: General Business & Economic News
^ I think the RNC impact is over-stated. In fact, there are a lot of people holding off on construction until after the RNC, since there will be a freeze on construction for that week anyway.

Cleveland: Downtown Office Buildings Updates
^ Seems like they prefer a suburban-style campus anyway. It would be awesome if they somehow choose downtown Cleveland, but I highly highly doubt it will happen. I hope the City is at least making an effort to reach out to them, though. It couldn't hurt.

Cleveland: Downtown Office Buildings Updates
Hopefully Medical Mutual's Columbus consolidation is a sign that their corporate culture prefers downtown offices.

Cleveland: Downtown: Gateway District: Development and News
This Wild Eagle Saloon sounds like it should actually be in the Flats East Bank.

Cleveland: Downtown: Gateway District: Development and News
Regardless of whether people think it's offensive or not, I think the Indian chief head looked really tacky so I'm glad it's gone.
-
Cleveland / Lakewood: The Edge Developments
I've heard that a high-quality barber shop will be taking the space between Twist and Starbucks.
-
Cleveland: University Circle: Cleveland Clinic Developments
^ The building will be facing E. 100, so the big setback is facing that street, not Euclid. There's still a setback from Euclid, but not quite that big.
-
Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
Only way this could have been redeveloped is if the Shoreway was redirected southward next to the tracks, and if a large-scale residential development (basically an entirely new neighborhood) was to be built along with the renovation/re-purposing of the plant. So basically, it would be almost impossible to get all that done. Still, I'm sad because I really like this building and I'll hate seeing it go.

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
^ Unsurprising but sad.
