Cleveland: University Circle (General): Development and News
Can someone explain how a conservation easement works? "Nunes said that the art college completed its capital campaign this month by selling $1.5 million in conservation easements for development in the air rights over the McCullough Center to Global X, a Cleveland firm that specializes in transferable tax assets."

Cleveland: Downtown: May Company Building
It's difficult to see inside the space, but the only noticeable change is that a wall has been erected cutting off the Taco Bell space from the rest of the old Cadillac Ranch. It doesn't look like there has been any interior detailing yet. Not sure where they are with the process though. Opening in the Spring. http://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20170112/NEWS/170119901/public-squares-high-end-taco-bell-delayed-until-spring

Cleveland Indians opening day of 1930! Sadly, they lost to the Chicago White Sox 4 - 3. This is in the old League Park stadium. The Municipal stadium opened one year later on July 1st of 1931. The Indians would not play their first game in Municipal stadium until 1932. Fans complained that the outfield was too big at Municipal stadium (because of the reduced number of home runs). The Indians moved back to League Park and played there until 1946.

Cleveland City Council
Another update: 'Don King Way' still stirring controversy on Cleveland City Council CLEVELAND, Ohio – Two Cleveland City Council members clashed in an email exchange over the proposal to bestow the honorary street name "Don King Way" upon the stretch of Cedar Avenue where the legendary boxing promoter once stomped a man to death. The dispute began over the weekend, when Councilman Jeffrey Johnson had emailed his colleagues to express his disapproval of the proposed ordinance, which he said is "making our city a joke across the world." On Monday morning, Councilman Tony Brancatelli responded: "Councilman Johnson, should we ask the same question for the statue of Jim Brown?" Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
I'm not sure about that. I have read, from those in the know, that about only 12 Light rail trains are mechanically able to run but not that, those running had limits as to how many passengers they could handle... Were they running 2-car trains to the game on the Waterfront Line? Yes, 2 trains when I rode from Tower City to FEB at 10:30am. I just thought it was really odd that they only allowed half the train to be filled when there was a huge line of people waiting to get on. The only other thing that I could think of was that they wanting to leave room for people boarding at Settler's Landing or FEB. But not many people board at those locations, especially that early to game time.

KJP[/member] - Do you know if Lakewood is still looking to upgrade the railroad crossing gates so that the trains don't have to blow there horn at each crossing?

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
Rode the Redline and then the waterfront line to the game yesterday. When we went to get on the waterfront line at Tower City, they only allowed maybe half the train to be filled. There were so many empty seats on the train and we left with at least 100 people waiting in line for the next one! I didn't ride it coming back so I can't comment on how many people they allowed on the trains after the game. Are they limiting the number of people on the trains because of mechanical issues?

My mom has a stack of old Cleveland Plain Dealer papers from 1928~1930 which I was digging through. The papers are so dry and brittle that they were crumbling as I was attempting to turn the pages. I was able to find a few neat ones that I thought I'd share! "Chinese break ground for new headquarters building on Rockwell Ave near East 21st" - 1930. I believe this is the Emperor's Palace building now. Former headquarters on Ontario. Berea Bank building - May 19, 1929 Tudor Arms - June 1930 Check out what building is in the background, Fifth Church of Christ Scientist, W117th and Lake ave - April 27, 1930 Detroit Superior bridge - April 27, 1930 Chester Ave widening ~ 1930 After the Sheriff Street Market fire which was on May 9th, 1930. May 18, 1930 Cleveland "Flats" ~ 1930 "Marine graveyard" with TT in the background - April 20, 1930 Forest City Baseball team of 1869 and Cleveland baseball club of 1879 There were also a surprisingly large amount of ads for awning companies in the papers. Here are a couple for Wagner which has their Scranton address Lake Erir College girls track team - May 19, 1929

Hmmm. Not sure how to interpret this comment from Fred Geis. Is he doubting the success/feasibility of this project? "If you've got the guts to build a new apartment building in the city of Cleveland, God bless you"
