I haven't had cable for almost 5 years now! Here is my homemade antenna, third rendition (version 1 was made from coat hangers!). It's made from materials that I had lying around the house; scrap wire, scrap wood, scrap flu liner for a reflector, and a $5 transformer from RadioShack. The antenna works great (picks up about 25 channels) and actually outperforms my friends antenna that he paid $50 for! I'm only 10 miles from the broadcast towers and have this mounted on my third floor. I also have Sling TV, Netflix, and amazon prime streaming. I really don't use Sling that much but only for games on ESPN. I also downloaded the ESPN streaming app on my Firestick, plugged in my DirectTV/Sling credentials (since sling is a DirectTV service), and now have access to live stream all ESPN channels even including ESPN 3 and the college channels. I haven't logged into the app in about 3 months so I honestly don't know if I still have access to all that. If you're thinking about cutting the cord then I highly recommend building a homemade antenna. It's cheap, simple to make, and outperforms what you will buy in the store!
  2. There is netting on the cornice of the "Goldfish" building. I'm really hoping that these three buildings can be saved. Maybe the facade on the far left building will be removed and we will see another amazing restoration like the Schofield!
  3. High five!
  4. More roof work. Looks like a new copper roof is being added (hard to see in second image).
  5. I was thinking the same thing. Couldn't this come to bite them in the back?
  6. I can't remember but isn't John Q's supposed to be opening up again? Possibly more of a sports bar theme? Q's???
  7. Wow, how common is this in an apartment? Any other places do this around Cleveland? "The Finch Group prides itself in top shelf service. For Innova residents, that service includes extras such as complimentary wine and hors d'oeuvres from 5 to 7 p.m. on Fridays in the lobby. On Saturdays from 8 to 10 a.m., a light breakfast is served in the same space."
  8. ETA for water taxi is Sept 25 Initial service between the east and west banks only. THe service later to be expanded to Whiskey island , Merwin's wharf area etc. east bank station will be where it alwys was (under the main ave bridge). the small brick bldg there will eventually be used as a visitors centre (prob next year) Any word on pricing or if there will be some sort of all day pass that could also be used with RTA services also?
  9. Columbus Road's resurgence gains a professional firm's office The row of arched windows and odd-sized door on the front of 1736 Columbus Road in Cleveland’s Flats looks old-fashioned. The brickwork is clearly new, although it has old-fashioned arches around the windows. LED lights, bright colors and hallmarks of modern design abound throughout the inside, but the building’s old, as oodles of revealed bricks reveal. Welcome to the engaging contrasts at the new home of Fabo Architecture Inc., an architecture and planning firm where founder Brian Fabo and his visitors can watch freighters ply the Cuyahoga River across the street. 10. The site is still being cleared at Breakwater. Making progress!
  11. Did the Truman building tree jump across the street to the JHB building??
  12. Maybe they will connect it to the tunnels under the Soldiers and Sailors monument
  13. From today:
  14. The top of the crane is not visible from any of the earthcam views. Going up!
  15. There has always been 4 webcam views.
  16. Very similar, except made of what appears to be a hard plastic. What is the purpose? Is it because the roadway is already poured and they are trying to protect it?
  17. What is on the roadway in front of Toby Keith's? It looks like those foam interlocking floors that you see at the gym.
  18. Sounds like Shelly from the comments section does not approve.... :wtf:
  19. I've been excited for this since last week! :whip: :whip: When is the press conference?
  20. Anyone know how far along the Palace of Fermentation is?
  21. They installed an elevator in that building! I wonder how expensive that was?? Is this for ADA compliance? I see they are planning a rooftop bar but wondering if they are also doing something in the basement. Seems like it would be a huge expense if it's just for the second level rooftop. Or maybe that building is taller than what I remember...
  22. This sounds interesting and fun: Don't know where to eat? Ask Wheedle If Wheedle can convince Clevelanders to use the app it's about to launch, the chic restaurant Lago finally will have a way to target those people who sit around debating where they want to go for dinner. The Cleveland-based startup company is in the process of recruiting restaurants, bars and other entertainment venues that want to use the new app, which works like Groupon, but in reverse: Instead of getting a steady stream of daily deals, people type in what they want to eat or do, then establishments offer them deals and perks in an effort to win their business. The establishment would then pay Wheedle a fee for each person who shows up. More: http://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20150607/NEWS/306079986/dont-know-where-to-eat-ask-wheedle
  23. That place is one of my favorites! Great food and speedy service. I have never had a bad experience there. It's really not the pricey either, not sure why some would think it is. Especially when you consider it is a BYOB place with no corking/bottle fee. How could you not love a restaurant that lets you BYOB?!? :drunk: Does anyone know of other CLE area restaurants that are BYOB?
  24. I still can't get over the new dog/dawg logo
