Cleveland: General Business & Economic News
I wonder how many people are in a situation like mine where i work remotely for a company and get paid from another state. I would think statistically I would show up being a Virginia employee. Yet I'm paid out of the Seattle area. Mine is a little more unique but there are a lot of remote workers these days. I don't know how employment stats can capture these situations.

Akron: Random Development and News
I would expect this to be very pedestrian friendly as the purpose of the project is to improve the landscape and to add a bike lane and update the sidewalks. I would expect to see nice islands steering single lane traffic through there. i wonder what the middle will be. A statue of Lebron? After all they just renamed that section of Main St, King James Way.

Akron: Random Development and News
That is such a massive intersection overbuilt because of the innerbelt exit i presume. I think it will be great to get rid of a poorly timed traffic light there. I wouldn't expect many more traffic circles downtown. I haven't heard much of another project of turning the exchange and cedar streets to 2-way. I thought that was a 2017 project. I could see roundabouts employed at some of the end points to remind people that it is now 2 way.

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
Maybe they are building it to take advantage of the Canadian shopper. If the Canada ferry from Cleveland happens this will be very popular for Canadians to avoid their sales tax.

Cleveland: Downtown: The Beacon
Looking at NAADA's previous work, the building shouldn't be a tall boring box. They seem to be really into environment, space, and shape. If the building is to be started after the RNC, maybe they will do the photo and design release during it.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
I'd say maybe a backup plan in case JR decides not to come back. LBJ would pretty much need to take the contract hit if he wants Wade otherwise.

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
I would imagine training can be easily done in Akron. I'm going to pop into there tomorrow after the Lock 4 concert to see what's up. Also the speculated project for Transdigm would likely be the phase 2 area. That is way too big for the sliver left on E9 pier. Also, just because it is a military contractor doesn't mean they need uber-security. That said they probably want their own building. Will that be enough to allow for mix use in what is to be a mix use area? Or will they want no street interaction, so what would be the point of going to that location?

Cleveland Hopkins International Airport
This would seem a good time to move the management of the airport to the port authority. They have deep pockets to make the investments that would be needed like updating concourses to handle the bigger jets so maybe it could be a hub again. It would probably need dual runways for that to happen though. But a shift to a less hamstrung agency would improve things nonetheless.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
That was a nice game. I liked watching the warriors fall apart at the end. It should be a brutal game 7. Hopefully Love can improve his output for that game. I wonder what excuses the warriors fans will have for this loss especially since they are the superior team from the vastly superior conference and should have won the whole thing in 4 anyways /s.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
With Bogut likely out for Thursday, i like the Cavs chances at home. He helps in setting the defensive tone early as the last line of defense. I imagine that he is Green's comfort blanket knowing that a charging LBJ is going to hit that wall under the basket. That should put more pressure on Green to be the stopper in a very loud arena.

I thought that was a coaster as well and researched further. Its just an elevated walkway.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
This is a great series. I still think the refs mainly suck. They weren't too in the way this game except for not calling things when Cavs players were draped and fouls on Cavs players if they even touched the jersey of the other team. I feel they can play tougher defense against the guards still. I'm not sure i want a blowout by the Cavs on Thursday. I just want a 15 point win. That should make for a tough win on Sunday.

Cleveland: Downtown: Millennia's Garfield Bldg & HQ Developments
It sounds like he's a pretty audacious guy. I can see someone talking him out of that location. What is better than renovating an old building for a chef? Being allowed to have a hand in the design of space in a new audacious building.

Canton: Pro Football Hall of Fame Village
First off N. Canton is a bit different from Canton. Hoover was in N. Canton. But there are several large employers still in Canton area. The main ones would be the hospitals, but also Diebold (also in N Canton) and Timken. I just saw a nice employee event for Timken at punch bowl social on a Tuesday night. A hundred employees or so were dressed in matching bowling shirts in Timken orange there. That sounds like they are doing pretty well. Besides Jackson there is also Hills and Dales and Lake Cable for communities that are a little more upscale. i like checking out Canton brewing company. Its in the middle of the downtown by the galleries and other bars and restaurants. It is surprisingly active with pedestrians when I've been there. A place I'm meaning to get to is Geravasi winery an upscale series of restaurants with great landscaping outside of downtown. Check out their website to be blown away. With it being the county seat and having the McKinley monument and museum, there are enough things to be able to handle an upscale hotel.

Canton: Pro Football Hall of Fame Village
Its not like the city is trying to bring in a splashy hotel in to juice things up. If that were the case I'd agree with your sentiment. This is part of a massive half billion dollar+ commitment from the NFL. They are the ones deciding how this will look. They want to change the tired feel of the HOF. I see no reason that Northeast Ohio can't handle building this hotel either. There are many futuristic buildings with challenging metal work that have been built in the last 10 years. Just not in Canton. I expect very little if any concern from Canton residents about the hotel design.

Akron: University of Akron: Development and News
Cartwright was investigating this back in the 80s. I'd be happy disbanding the board of regents of Akron and just sharing Kent's. Call it an affiliation.

Canton: Pro Football Hall of Fame Village
It certainly is not something any business in Stark county would dream of building in Canton. But I don't think people will have a problem with it either. They know a new hotel is coming in. I believe there may be some property aquisition depending on how the master plan unfolds.

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
It could be that as a nearby competitor Rock or whoever owns Tower City doesn't want to allow them to advertise the other Racino location.

Akron: Random Development and News
^Too bad it looks like they are keeping the same footprint on the site. I'm totally good with it being their "down-scaled" store as it won't really be a "destination" that WPM was. I still would like them to bring the footprint in the same general area as the previous market instead of in the side parking lot. I drove by there with a friend the other week and pointed out that was the WPM and not that he's squeamish at all, said "I don't want to look". I have a feeling many people will be feeling that once the plaza gets built with all the parking spaces upfront along the whole stretch of W. Market.

Northeast Ohio / Cleveland: General Transit Thread
^building off that idea, if you want to get younger people to use rta more, set up an app. The app would be the trip planner with ticket purchase option. It would create an e-boarding pass that they could show to whoever or have scanned like getting on airplanes.

Cleveland City Council
I think this could be done: make 11 wards out of 17. Create 4 at large council positions with 4 year terms. The benefit would save money on 2 council positions. Allow councilman to be in more powerful at large posts which is a step up from the straight wards.

I wonder if this is the kind of place Jack would hang out at before and after gambling...

Cleveland: Downtown Office Buildings Updates
The reason I brought up Sterling is because that would be the company that has deep enough pockets to get naming rights for a building while only taking up maybe the top 7-10 floors of a new building. If you notice there are a bazillion Jareds commercials on tv during the holidays. So they have money to spend. Well another marketing angle would be to have a shiny top of a building with perhaps one of their store brand names emblazoned on it some how or maybe ever-changing. So when the blimp is shooting pictures of downtown Cleveland it can have additional free advertising. That wouldn't really be poachng Akron either. Its just a HQ move while keeping the majority of facilities in Akron.

Cleveland: Downtown Office Buildings Updates
Note that some corp offices are leased til 2019. That would be the exact time-frame KJP is talking about. Also, most execs live probably in Bath and Hudson area. That would not be a tough commute. People that are further away could easily afford to move.
