  1. Grabbed some pics of the rehearsal for tomorrow's event. Bonus shots of Phuel's interior.
  2. Will probably be a hit with case students!
  3. I had no idea about this one! Very cool addition to the 'hood!
  4. It's being re-routed down prospect at E. 9th to E. 18th until Saturday.
  5. Hopefully the next census reflects that. Things are definitely happening, and I love it!
  6. Stage is up! Looks like this is going to be an awesome event!
  7. Brickstone is on E. 9th downtown and the other two are Ohio City first on W. 25th other on Lorain.
  8. Stage is being set up for Friday night!
  9. I went on Sunday. The space is fantastic, as is the ice cream. I tried the new rum babka flavor, it was a little strong for my tastes, but still good. Below are a few Instagram shots I took. I didn't go up to the second floor public space though. I believe you can go upstairs to view art and look down into the kitchen while you eat your treats.
  10. Looks like WEWS spoiled PHS's big moment and posted some photos of the lighted and completed chandelier from late last night. Here's a link to the Facebook post for those interested. Not all of them, but the more prominent ones are. I think the plan is to add more uplighting at some point to other buildings in the district.
  11. Almost done! Snagged a couple of crappy cell phone pics while walking home from rehearsal!
  12. Thanks for sharing! I was bummed that I missed it's airing Saturday!
  13. I love it all too, that why I decided to live there. I just personally feel that it's location should be used for something bigger. I haven't been impressed with what I've seen from Phuel so far. I think PHS needs retail and restaurants that complement it's grandiosity. I think it has the momentum to support such businesses soon. Like I said though, I hope I'm proven wrong when they open. I really love the ideas and the food they'll be preparing. I just hope the store itself doesn't detract from the overall style PHS is aiming for. I had a "Dyn-o-mite" T-shirt and used to imitate Jimmy Walker pretty well as a kid in the 70s. :) But this restaurant isn't open during the winter, correct? I don't care for the chandelier either, but people are taking pictures of it. Gateway Arches, Sky Needles and CN Towers don't do anything for me either, but they're draws and icons. It was supposed to be open all year IIRC. They decided to close it for the rest of the winter back in early December because nobody wanted to eat out in the cold. The chandelier is indeed drawing a lot of attention. I've had a lot of people in other cities ask about it. PHS is really doing a great thing for our city's image. They've created a great space to just wander around. It was especially nice with all the sun we had over the weekend. Edit: got a chance to walk by the cafe. It's better than I originally thought, but the branding is really bad compared to the overall aesthetic they have going on.
  14. I wasn't even comparing this to chains. There are plenty of examples of independent restaurants in the area who have done a good job at presentation on a budget. My expectations were high for this place given it's location. Hopefully it'll all turn out nicely when all the work is done.
  15. Keep in mind that not all of the crystals have been hung yet. Though it already is making difference in person. It was fantastic to see the sunlight hitting the crystals yesterday. I'm a fan of the idea behind the restaurant, but couldn't the branding/signage be a little nicer for the location?

Funny you put the urbanohio sign where you did. I may have some news to share in the coming months about some actual signage (no, not for UO) going up in that very spot. Hopefully, if all goes according to plan, it may become some of the coolest signage in all of downtown.
  17. I find that hard to believe!
  18. Largely cash business so i'm sure most cabbies wouldn't want to divulge too much info. With Lift in town (and hopefully Uber someday) maybe they will be forced to compete in the digital world, including credit cards and GPS tracking. Lyft and Uber both started Cleveland service two weeks ago.
  19. I am so so excited about this!
  20. Is that what all of the police and fire trucks were blocking Detroit for?
  21. Thought I'd share a pic of the countdown I took yesterday. Edit: as of today, about half of the crystals have been hung on the chandelier.
  22. Latest versions of maps requires WebGL, which isn't turned on by default and not supported on older versions of Safari. Simply turning it on doesn't really help though, as Google has simply decided not to support Safari at all because of that, so they default to Lite mode. https://support.google.com/maps/answer/3096703?ctx=c2n_req1
  23. Those last two shots make me sad. Such a beautiful building.
  24. Maybe I'm just getting lousy layovers, but I think the restrooms in Cleveland are some of the best. Definitely a notch above Detroit, San Diego and Midway. I was just talking about this with someone the other day! I had a layover at LAX a couple of weeks ago and the bathrooms looked like a third world country while in comparison the stalls in the bathrooms in concourse C at CLE are like a hotel room. Props to Hopkins for being one of the cleanest airports I've ever been to. Maybe it's a different story in concourses A&B?
