Another shot, this time with the crane extended.

Cleveland: Downtown: Playhouse Square Development and News
Looks like they're starting work on the 14th street arch tonight. They just closed it off to traffic and brought in a semi and a lift. If they have it all up by morning, I'll be sure to get some pics. Sorry for the crappy shots. I had a hard time getting an angle of the street up on my floor.

Wow, they look even bigger than I thought they would be!

Cleveland: Downtown: Euclid & 9th Tower / Schofield Building Redevelopment
Fire trucks and police just arrived on scene at the Schofield building. Workers are all gathered at the PNC plaza. Hopefully whatever happened doesn't set the project back too much.

Cleveland: General Business & Economic News
You haven't seen the coverage? They say something along the lines of: "It's a big gamble for Heinen's...." And of course they always have to throw in something about parking after that.

Here's another one taken where the big video pillar will be going in. Bonus shot that I posted on IG, just because I think playhouse square is perdy. I can't wait to see how bright the square is after the video boards are all in!

Cleveland: Downtown: Playhouse Square Development and News
As promised, here are some crappy cell phone pics from my snowy walk in this morning showing some of the areas where they've torn up the brick to start installing the wiring for the arches and the video boards.

Cleveland: Downtown: Playhouse Square Development and News
Construction has really started ramping up for all of these improvements. They've been removing bricks and building bridges for pedestrians to use while the sidewalks are all torn up where they're installing new signage. I'll see if I can get some shots on my way to work tomorrow morning.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
I think you're right about the 12 years. There are some physical problems with the buses, beyond seat cushions and headlights. I mean, I'm not surprised due to how much use they get. With the ridership they've been having they're going to take a beating. I just hope that RTA can maintain them well enough to last that long.

Here's the Michael Symon video. Had some good looking shots of E 4th and the downtown skyline. http://abc.go.com/shows/the-chew/video/most-recent/_m_VDKA0_2j6dhffu

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
I really hope that the HealthLine buses get some TLC soon. I got on a westbound bus in University Circle Saturday night that broke down two stops later. I also observed that the bus was missing a headlight and a few seat cushions. We all had to cram onto the next bus which didn't seem to be in much better condition. Does anyone know if there are plans to replace the fleet anytime soon?

Cleveland: Downtown & Vicinity Residences Discussion
Very cool! I moved in back in December after snagging a unit that had a cancellation just minutes before I called. It's a fantastic building and my unit is gorgeous. We've had some issues with drafty windows that weren't replaced during the renovation, but K&D was quick to remedy the situation and has ordered new windows. The building manager has been really friendly. Glad to see that it's getting so much attention. I was wondering about that. Driving by every day on my way home from work, I noticed more and more plastic-sheeted windows! Yeah, the windows all have to be custom made, so they've been putting up insulation kits while they wait for them to come in. The ones for my unit are supposed to be in within a few days. I've been pretty happy with how quickly they handled it.

I was wondering the same thing. They were working pretty late last night. Weird that we haven't heard anything.

Hey, don't give them any ideas! I like my cheap rent. ;)

The cherry pickers were also there this morning when I left for work. Looked like they were doing some cleanup from when they removed the signs.

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
Time to close down that toilet. This address (1222 Prospect Ave) and all those on either side of it including to the point at Bolivar are owned by RTN Ltd. which in in turn lists to Robert T. George. http://www2.sos.state.oh.us/reports/rwservlet?imgc&Din=201014401070 The company has its offices at 18605 Detroit Ave, Lakewood, OH, which is the same address as Harry Buffalo, a restaurant chain owned by convicted felon Tony George. Tony gives LOTS of campaign contributions to politicians which has kept him out of trouble, including at a reggae club in the Flats called Splash where his partner, Blaise Brucato, went to prison in the 1990s because Jamaicans were dealing drugs from the club. George wasn't touched. Sounds like the Xecutive Lounge is his or his family's latest contribution to the quality of life in Greater Cleveland. I didn't see any ambulances called before the police dispersed, so luckily no one seemed to be hurt. Probably just someone showing off their gun after the club closed. It does seem like this place keeps the police busy though. We'll probably see more details in the blotter. EDIT: Fixed quote, apparently I'm bad at using the mobile app.

We may hear about another incident near the Xecutive Lounge again. I live around the corner, heard what sounded like a gunshot about 15 mins ago. The police arrived shortly after and started to block traffic.

CLEVELAND - Downtown Forum Lunch Meet - July 30th or July 31st? (see last page)
I normally do a lot of lurking, but wouldn't mind putting faces to the usernames. Market cafe sounds good to me. I worry about logistics at Kafeteria. It gets pretty busy and, depending on the time, might be hard to find more than one open table close enough to put together.

I thought I heard a story on WKYC the other day that said there were ~10,000 athletes registered?

Cleveland: Downtown: Playhouse Square Development and News
I live across the street. Looking at the street view they had a similar one at one point, but I know it's been down at least since Summer. This new one was installed yesterday. Only two weeks after installation and the lighting on one side of the new parking sign is no longer working.
