Cleveland: Downtown: John Hartness Brown Buildings / Euclid Grand
Have seen zero outward manifestation of any work being done on this site since the workers were spotted on September 1. At this point maybe the building will just dismantle itself so we can forget about it.

Another boring rig spotted in the parking lot of E. 17th and Euclid today. This rig is a good deal larger than the last one posted and in a different spot.

Child victim of drive-by shooting on East Side dies of wounds, police say CLEVELAND, Ohio -- A 3-year-old boy wounded in a drive-by shooting Tuesday night has died of his injuries, police said early Wednesday morning. The boy, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at MetroHealth Medical Center after surgery, according to a news release from Cleveland police. The boy was one of two people shot Tuesday while sitting in a car on East 113th Street, between Union and Regalia avenues, at about 7:15 p.m. According to police, the boy and a 24-year-old woman were passengers in a vehicle with a male driver. Witnesses tell police another vehicle pulled up to the car and someone inside began firing. The woman in the car was struck once in the thigh, while the toddler was struck once in the chest. http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2015/09/child_victim_of_drive-by_shoot.html#incart_m-rpt-1

Cleveland: Downtown: East 4th Street Developments
Checked out the opening this past weekend. Pretty great inside. It needed a refresh and I love the new floor plan and decorating. The old floor plan squished the smallish bar up against the bowling lanes and the entire lower dining level was reliably vacant by 9:30pm while people jockeyed for space on the upper level. It was just a bad use of space. Now the bar is much larger and the lanes aren't so cramped.

Yep, there's still white-boxed retail space all along the ground floor of the Avenue condo building that has never been leased since the building was built in 2007.

If the UC3 development and Innova are the successes we hope them to be, I guarantee Key Bank and Rite Aid will do sale-leaseback agreements with developers who will build multistory buildings on their locations within a few years time. Their current sites were built during a very different time in that area's history.

Right, but the old Flat's owners were private owners staring down the barrel of a mayoral administration who said they would use eminent domain to assemble land. This mayor won't use eminent domain, the Ohio Constitution has since been amended to disallow such a practice, and this is a public entity holding land ownership so that analogy doesn't mean much for at least those 3 reasons. The library doesn't have a blank writ of power to do whatever they want in this instance but they do hold a pretty weighty bargaining chip here (the fate of their parcel). Their single story building on Euclid is probably exactly what they bargained for and makes sense.......if you're a public entity completely insulated from the forces private land owners face.

Yep, this is a public entity that doesn't care about the maximization of space and use. They are insulated from the need to make profitable decisions from their land use. Would make waaayy more sense for the library to contract with the developer to occupy tenant space in a building within the project which would no doubt be multi-story. Oh well, not the first and won't be the last time a decision like this will be made by the guv'mint.

Separate incident than the one above. Warrant issued for man accused of shooting at Cleveland police officers CLEVLEAND, Ohio -- Police are searching for a 26-year-old man they said opened fire on Cleveland police officers late Tuesday. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant charging Shawn B. Hall with felonious assault in connection with the incident on Lenacrave Avenue near East 131st Street, according to court records. Two officers in a marked police car responded to the area for shots fired outside a convenience store about 11 p.m., and were patrolling when they saw a group of people standing around two cars in the parking lot. As they approached, Hall stepped from the group and fired several rounds at the police car, according to investigators. He continued walking toward the car and fired more shots, according to court records. http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2015/09/warrant_issued_for_man_accused.html#incart_river ----------- Credit to Zack Reed who is aggressively calling for Mr. Hall's arrest on twitter: https://twitter.com/zachreed12

I expect to be tarred and feathered for this but.....I was walking eastbound down Euclid Ave the other day and passed this site was pleasantly taken aback by the new view of the Cathedral. The site does expose the church architecture where it was very well concealed before. All that said, the CIMP building is indeed ugly.
