  1. Started to notice some dumpsters behind the building on Vincent the past 2 weeks. Workers have been in and out of the freight entrance removing what appears to be drywall and other interior materials. The lights on the first floor have randomly been on a few nights as well.
  2. I always thought you needed to have a redevelopment plan to demo a building within a landmarks district. Hopefully there is more that isn't public at this point.
  3. ^ The beaches were (mis)managed by the State prior to Metropark's takeover.

Aaahhh thank god!!! I was really getting worried that this fantastic service would continue to thrive due to its unrivaled superiority. Never too late to bring in government at the behest of established industries to burden it into obscurity! Cleveland officials want to regulate Uber, other ride-sharing services CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Cleveland officials want to force ride-sharing services like Uber and Lyft to operate in the city under the same rules and regulation as taxicabs. Dedrick Stephens, the city's assessments and licenses commissioner, made the announcement Wednesday in a public meeting with taxicab drivers and company owners. Stephens' office will push to amend the city ordinance that regulates taxicabs to include ride-sharing services that have become increasingly popular and contentious. http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2015/07/cleveland_officials_want_to_re.html#incart_m-rpt-1
  7. The Beckwith Mansion applied but did not win tax credits this round.
  8. Absurd to consider Beachwood as an interchangeable "alternative" to downtown. These are completely different submarkets with little to no renter overlap. I guarantee that the vast vast majority of people living in these Beachwood projects would never really consider living downtown.
  9. I'll take that trade.
  10. This morning was exceptionally nice.
  11. ^ If they're built by Ryan Homes, they're low end. I don't mean any offense by that but RH is known for building stuff less than top tier - but that may be all the market can bear in that spot.
  12. I just downloaded it. The app is great, by far the best transit app I've seen yet. But yeah, if it's lacking info for the trains - it's sorely needed.
  13. Medtronic (MDT) Acquires CardioInsight Technologies in Net $93M + Performance Bonuses Deal Medtronic (NYSE: MDT) announced that it has acquired CardioInsight Technologies, Inc. ("CardioInsight"), a privately-held, Cleveland-based medical device company that has developed a new approach to improve the mapping of electrical disorders of the heart. CardioInsight will become part of the Medtronic Atrial Fibrillation Solutions business in the Cardiac Rhythm and Heart Failure division. Medtronic completed its acquisition of CardioInsight on a debt-free basis in a transaction valued at approximately $93 million, net of CardioInsight's cash of $7 million, plus performance-based contingent consideration that may be paid post-closing. Consideration consisted of an initial cash payment of $75 million and retirement of a Medtronic loan outstanding to CardioInsight in the amount of $25 million. Additional terms of the deal were not disclosed. http://www.streetinsider.com/Corporate+News/Medtronic+(MDT)+Acquires+CardioInsight+Technologies+in+Net+$93M+%2B+Performance+Bonuses+Deal/10665548.html ------- Medtronic acquires CardioInsight of Cleveland in $93 million deal By CHUCK SODER Medtronic has acquired CardioInsight of Cleveland in a deal valued at $93 million. The local company’s technology is designed to diagnose electrical abnormalities affecting the heart. Thus, CardioInsight will become part of Medtronic’s Atrial Fibrillation Solutions business, according to a news release from Medtronic. The medical technology giant plans to maintain CardioInsight’s presence in Cleveland, according to an email statement attributed to Reggie Groves, vice president and general manager of the Atrial Fibrillation unit at Medtronic. The company bought CardioInsight for its “talent and technology,” she stated. Medtronic paid $75 million in cash, and it retired “a Medtronic loan outstanding to CardioInsight,” the release stated. The value of the deal could grow: It also includes “performance-based contingent consideration that may be paid post-closing,” the release stated. CardioInsight has raised money from several local investors over the years. Among those investors are the nonprofit economic development group JumpStart, Case Technology Ventures and Draper Triangle Ventures, which is based in Pittsburgh but is active in Northeast Ohio. Members of the company’s management team have chipped in, too, according to this 2010 news release. CardioInsight’s technology was developed at Case Western Reserve University. Its system includes a vest that reads electrical data from a patient’s torso. The system’s software then converts that data into a map showing the electrical activity of the heart, as it beats. Medtronic technically is based in Dublin, Ireland, though its main offices are in Minneapolis. http://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20150619/NEWS/150619755/medtronic-acquires-cardioinsight-of-cleveland-in-93-million-deal

  16. Pretty sure the Van's stated intention and the routes established, strongly suggest they were interested in getting businessmen from the Heights to and from the CBD.

  21. ^ I can confirm there is active construction going on.
  22. Sounds like a robbery gone wrong rather than a random act of violence.
