  3. Does anyone have eyes and ears out there?
  4. That sign is a nightmare.
  5. I've done business with XL before. When I promoted a party there in 2013 TG wasn't involved. It was black owned and, from my understanding, is still black owned. (And to the one who made the "shooting" comment, I've known very little to go down there. I've been an attendee and a promoter and I rarely, if ever, hear about stuff going down at XL. Not saying it's not true, but I've never seen it and I've been there and done an event there You should look through the Cleveland crime thread.
  6. Nice! ....but your username makes me wonder....
  7. If this lot was zoned with a minimum height requirement of, say, 4 stories for sh*ts and giggles. How long before a 4+ building is built there?
  8. I had always heard the demise of the West End project ultimately lead to Crocker Park being developed as the West Side's upperscale retail destination. I don't know if there is any truth to this. I also heard many of the tenants that signed on to Crocker had been originally committed to the West End project. I agree the City's eminent domain attempts were ill conceived and outright unconstitutional...but still, could you imagine if such a retail destination had been build in an inner ring suburb instead of an exurban cornfield? Makes you wonder what kind of economic jolt Lakewood would have gotten.
  9. The parcels on which the "Xecutive Ultra Lounge" is located on have changed hands. 101-37-039 101-37-036 to MIGHTY SENSIBLE LLC for $720k So.....maybe less shootings?

Aaaahhh what a relief. We don't have to look at Joakim Noah's hideous mug for the next couple months.
  11. This might be impossible or just silly but is there anyway to make the iphone emojis available for use on the forum? I got so used to them on my phone I find myself reflexively thinking of including them in posts.
  12. Man, we've really made it. New condo construction and UO is like "meh."
  13. What's happening in OTR is excellent but it is no where near approaching Brooklyn level housing pressures. No non-coastal city in America (with the exception of very few select markets in Chicago) is approaching near the housing demand/development seen in Brooklyn and New York - and probably won't ever.

  16. Wow, leaves as Dean for a mere Professorship downstate. Edward "Ned" Hill, Cleveland State's dean of urban affairs, takes new post at Ohio State CLEVELAND, Ohio – Edward "Ned" Hill, dean of Cleveland State University's Levin College of Urban Affairs, is leaving the city for a new post as a professor at Ohio State University, effective Sept. 1. Hill, an academic and public intellectual who helped revive interest in the city as a center of industrial design and manufacturing, joined CSU originally in 1985 as an assistant professor. In 2005, he was named the University's first vice president for economic development, a post he held until taking the deanship. http://www.cleveland.com/architecture/index.ssf/2015/05/cleveland_state_university_urb.html#incart_m-rpt-1

Man, if I'm this exhausted watching this series from my couch.....I can only imagine how smashed up the players are at this point.
  18. I haven't read through all of this but it looks excellent. It compares Cleveland & Pittsburgh and outlines some of the issues and opportunities associated with transitioning from a manufacturing to knowledge based economy. Also, Richie Piiparinen's work is pretty cool because it takes a historical look at economic cycles instead of 95% of economic and urban planning "researchers" who proclaim: "this place is good and that place is bad." 19. UH to open Level 1 trauma center on main campus to serve East Side CLEVELAND, Ohio — University Hospitals plans to open Northeast Ohio's second Level 1 trauma center this fall, to serve patients on the East Side that the health system says should have faster and closer access to the highest level of trauma care. The only other Level 1 trauma center in the area is at MetroHealth Medical Center's main campus on Cleveland's near West Side. For years, MetroHealth and the Cleveland Clinic, which together run the regional trauma network called the Northern Ohio Trauma System, or NOTS, have said that one of these high-level centers in the area is enough. Level 1 trauma centers, which require special staff on hand 24 hours a day, are equipped to treat the most serious traumas such as car accident and gunshot injuries. http://www.cleveland.com/healthfit/index.ssf/2015/05/uh_to_open_level_1_trauma_cent.html#incart_m-rpt-1

  23. Huge deal in the food world. Cleveland chef Jonathon Sawyer wins James Beard Best Chef Great Lakes Award CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Twitter lit up Monday night with word that Cleveland chef Jonathon Sawyer won the 2015 James Beard Foundation Award for Best Chef Great Lakes. During the 25th annual Beard Awards - held this year in Chicago, the first time the ceremony was staged outside of New York City - the chef/owner of The Greenhouse Tavern, Noodlecat and Trentina restaurants was the lone non-Chicagoan nominated in the Great Lakes category. He bested a field of chefs who all boasted Chicago ties. Sawyer topped Paul Virant of Vie in Western Springs, Illinois; and Andrew Zimmerman of Sepia, Curtis Duffy of Grace and Erling Wu-Bower of Nico Osteria, all in Chicago. http://www.cleveland.com/dining/index.ssf/2015/05/cleveland_chef_jonathon_sawyer_5.html#incart_river
