  1. Man, you guys can hang with Browns fans. http://www.worldstarhiphop.com/videos/video.php?v=wshhCrq9c8H66xQD018N
  2. This Trailer for a Cleveland Cycling Documentary Looks Terrific Keith Ten Eyck released the trailer for a dynamite documentary on the culture of cycling — with, of course, a focus on Cleveland. "There's this incredible power and energy that just wants to break out," Councilman Joe Cimperman says in the trailer. "I think you have to ask yourself a simple question, which is 'What kind of city do we want to be?'" He's joined by at least a dozen other cycling advocates from around Cleveland, all offering insightful looks into the bike scene in town. Plus, the music is awesome. Kickstand will be released in the summer of 2015. http://www.clevescene.com/scene-and-heard/archives/2014/11/22/this-trailer-for-a-cleveland-cycling-documentary-looks-terrific

Ha, a "vandals' playhouse" - sounds like an 80's band.
  4. Looks bangin'. I hope they do well.
  5. But the PS redo will bump up lender appraisal figures, which will give Jacobs access to better financing and terms.
  6. Cuyahoga County Council delays funding for pedestrian bridge to lakefront CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Cuyahoga County Council on Tuesday voted to borrow $102 million for capital improvements, including nearly $1 million to make Juvenile Justice Center sprinklers resistant to vandals. Absent from the list of approved items: a measure to borrow $10 million to help build a $25 million pedestrian bridge connecting the Cleveland Convention Center with the lakefront. A council committee last week voted to move the bridge project to a different list that's slated for approval in 2015. Council won't borrow the money until the county and Cleveland agree on ownership and responsibility for the bridge, said Councilman Dale Miller. But Miller, who earlier this month questioned whether Cleveland would follow through with a commitment to contribute $10 million toward the project, told Northeast Ohio Media Group on Tuesday he's confident the project will move forward. http://www.cleveland.com/cuyahoga-county/index.ssf/2014/11/cuyahoga_county_council_delays_funding_for_pedestrian_bridge_to_lakefront.html#incart_river
  7. From what I've heard, it's the citizenry of East Cleveland who are most adamantly against the annexation. Also, I heard that the discussion of annexation was solely generated by the Cleveland Scene and the PD for material last year. Full annexation can't happen without a vote from the residents of EC, right? If so, I don't see this being feasible.
  8. It means Tony Coyne and I will grow giant beards, stop showering, and live out of a tent on the Jacobs lot.
  9. So check this out - I think this project is priced in 2 phases. If you search for Cleveland projects here: http://www.constructionwire.com - you'll see that there were 2 listed in early November. One new construction "Parking Structures, Hotels/Motels/Resorts, Conventions/Arenas" project listed for $272 million and one new construction "Hotels/Motels/Resorts, Residential - MultiFamily (Apartments/Condos)" for $300 million. $572 million sounds more realistic for a project like this. I was snooping around on that site earlier in the month and it allowed me to look at each project listing on a map. I think I remember both of these 2 projects being listed at the NuCLEus site. Phase 1 being the parking and some retail components and Phase 2 being the larger tower. For some reason, I no longer have the option to view the projects on the map and I don't have an account so oh well.
  10. Hahah nice - I'll join him.
  11. What are you talking about? What about this case (besides a black kid getting killed by a police officer) overlaps with what we know about the Ferguson incident?
  12. I have to change my underwear.
  13. Any word on what the concept for the site is?
  14. Finally a place where I can grab a drink and tuck into a Lean Cuisine and some pizza rolls.
  15. Cleveland convention center hotel to hit construction milestone today CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Work on the Cleveland convention center hotel will hit a milestone today. Around noon, workers will hoist the last of roughly 1,600 steel beams for the hotel's four-story podium, according to a news release. Officials will commemorate the occasion with a ceremonial signing of the beam. http://www.cleveland.com/cuyahoga-county/index.ssf/2014/11/cleveland_convention_center_hotel_to_hit_construction_milestone_today.html#incart_river
  16. Pretty funny We Went to Cleveland Heights and Didn't Get Shot "I’ve returned, panting, to the safety and fluorescent buzz of Scene’s downtown HQ, and I am — praise God — alive. If not psychologically, I am at the very least physically without wound or blemish after my perilous outing to the Cedar Lee." http://www.clevescene.com/scene-and-heard/archives/2014/11/13/we-went-to-cleveland-heights-and-didnt-get-shot
  17. Ahhh here goes the old Woodhill Supply site. Surprising this appears to just be apartments, LI is one of the best purchasing markets in the City. The materials look really impressive on this - one of the better designed decoupage modern building to come recently IMO. Much more pictures here: http://planning.city.cleveland.oh.us/landmark/agenda/2014/11132014/index.php
  18. Don't know if everyone has seen this particular rendering before - I don't think I have. Found in wkyc's video about nuCLEus: http://www.wkyc.com/story/news/local/cleveland/2014/11/07/cleveland--developer-bob-stark-describes-nucleus-project/18666759/
  19. So this isn't directly about phase II but is certainly germane to the earlier discussion about its viability: Horseshoe Casino Cleveland in October didn't capitalize on tens of thousands of sports fans, according to revenue report "CLEVELAND, Ohio – Horseshoe Casino Cleveland's revenues for October were more than $2 million less than the same month a year ago despite opening a $4 million sports bar with electronic table games and the city drawing tens of thousands of football and basketball fans. The casino grossed $17.2 million in October after paying winners, a slight increase from the $16.76 million in September. It took in $19.5 million in October 2013 and $20.8 million in October 2012. The Cleveland Cavaliers played their first home game in October and two Cleveland Browns home games were played in October.... ....Hard Rock Rocksino Northfield Park revenues were $15.4 million in October compared to $14.6 million in September and $16.6 million in August. Revenues had shown a steady increase at the racino, which opened in January. It grossed $220 per day per video lottery terminal. ThiistleDown Racino revenues were $9.99 million, up from the $9.5 million in September. It grossed $12.8 million in October, 2013. The facility grossed $258 a day per video lottery terminal." http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2014/11/horseshoe_casino_cleveland_in.html#incart_m-rpt-1
  20. Keep rail stations at East 34th and East 79th, riders tell RTA officials Ken Prendergast, executive director of All Aboard Ohio, said he, too, would like RTA to evaluate alternative locations. "At East 79th-Red Line for example, a $16 million investment for 155 riders (the current average daily use) is $103,225.81 per rider. Instead, perhaps GCRTA could save money by buying for each rider at this station a new Kia Soul economy car every four years for the next quarter century," Prendergast said in an email. "Or, more reasonably, these stations could be moved a short distance away to sites where station-area development is more likely to occur and, indeed, may actually be attractive to development if a rail station was located there." A final analysis with recommendations on what to do with the rail stops is expected to go to RTA's board in December, with a vote on their future in January or February. http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2014/11/keep_rail_stations_at_east_34t.html#incart_river
  21. ^ That was my thought as well.
  22. It's my understanding the UCI will continue to own the parcel and enter into a long term land lease with Coral/Panzica.
  23. cross posted Siemens displays fresh interest in Cleveland as a tech center and "healthcare hub" "In a day of encounters with university administrators and researchers, Spiegel shared details of new programs and investments Siemens envisions for the region. He and other executives revealed plans for: Investing nearly $2 million to outfit a space in the Global Center for Health Innovation, creating an "executive conference center" in a city it sees as a hub of the healthcare industry. Moving a regional headquarters focused on medical imaging from Pittsburgh to Cleveland and bringing about two dozen high-paying jobs downtown. Forming more partnerships with CWRU to tap its expertise in radiology, biomedical engineering and medical imaging. Until Tuesday, Siemens had been quiet about it plans for the Global Center. It's third floor space, at nearly 3,000 square feet, makes it one of the larger tenants. "This city has become quite a hub for the healthcare industry" and the global center make that more obvious, Spiegel said in an interview at CWRU's Adelbert Hall, where he had met with university President Barbara Snyder. "We're a leader in healthcare technology. To be part of this new institution is something we're really interested in." http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2014/11/siemens_shows_fresh_interest_i.html#incart_river Read more: http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,15104.1225.html#ixzz3IFg9AH85
