  1. Was anyone at CPC this morning?
  2. Dude, what? What are you citing for this? This is quite a claim.
  3. I feel like I should know this by now but..... Abode was granted approval of the conceptual site plan by the Downtown/Flats Design Review on December 6th, 2013 (http://planning.city.cleveland.oh.us/designreview/drcagenda/2014/09052014/index.php) And now Brickhaus (formerly Abode) is seeking a Zoning Map Amendment and another site/development approval by the Downtown/Flats Design Review tomorrow (September, 5th, 2014) http://planning.city.cleveland.oh.us/designreview/drcagenda/2014/09052014/index.php ....so, if everything is voted in the affirmative tomorrow, does Brickhaus have any other administrative hurdles (excluding routine stuff like permitting, etc.) before it is free and clear to build?
  4. Geis Co. bought this complex in February 2013. The fact that this moved to quickly, efficiently, and successfully is mind blowing.
  5. I've been lied to all my life.
  6. ^ It's the Colonial Arcade. C'mon y'all!!
  7. ^ So it looks like the site plan changed considerably from the earlier concepts. I can't read the text but is that a 6 story apartment building fronting Lorain built above parking? If so, that's a huge improvement from the 3 story building with drive through lanes and the massive surface lot. This change may be driven by some residential hold-out properties that have appeared in this new site plan but were absent from the original.
  8. Cleveland welcomes growing field of server farms CLEVELAND — Northeast Ohio is hardly ready to usurp Silicon Valley as a high-tech mecca, but a growing number of data centers are choosing to locate in and around Cleveland to take advantage of cheap power, an abundance of fiber-optic cable and one of the safest environments in the country for storing digital information.... ...It’s ironic that a Rust Belt city like Cleveland, once a manufacturing giant brought to its knees by disruptive technologies and business models, is so well-suited to the Internet age. The superhighways of the 19th and early 20th centuries — rail lines — have proven to be the ideal conduit for routing fiber-optic cable, much like the telegraph lines of old. “It’s an infrastructure legacy,” said Kevin Goodman, managing director and a partner in BlueBridge Networks, which has a downtown data center near Playhouse Square and a larger facility in suburban Mayfield Heights. http://www.washingtonpost.com/business/technology/cleveland-welcomes-growing-field-of-server-farms/2014/08/31/d8a2c1a2-311d-11e4-9f4d-24103cb8b742_story.html
  9. Cleveland a ‘city of choice’ for development Hotel development in Cleveland is booming, thanks in part to the city winning the bid for the 2016 RNC, a new convention center and a surging health care sector. Conclusion Despite the addition of more than 2,000 new hotel rooms between 2013 and 2016, H&LA is forecasting Cleveland-area revenue-per-available-room increases in each of the next three years. Continued development projects, anticipation of the coming RNC and hype surrounding the return of LeBron James to the Cleveland Cavaliers will cast a bright light on the city and the entire metropolitan area, providing a great opportunity for all to see it’s not a city that developers, national conventions, sports superstars and world-renowned doctors merely settle for. For some, it’s become a city of choice. http://www.hotelnewsnow.com/Article/14332/Cleveland-a-city-of-choice-for-development
  10. ^ The front is beautiful. It wouldn't further their cause to show how handsome the structure is....b*stards.
  11. Found this on Cleveland Scene: http://www.clevescene.com/scene-and-heard/archives/2014/08/27/this-cleveland-video-might-as-well-be-a-tourism-video-but-its-not-because-its-better <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/n5QEdBl_WqQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> We live in a helluva place and our best days are still ahead of us.
  12. Cleveland MSA is roughly 2,077,240 people and the largest metro entirely in Ohio. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greater_Cleveland
  13. You don't like "Naan?" I had it Sunday night and I thought it was bangin'. I'm Desi (South Asian), and it wasn't spicy enough, the basmati was overcooked, the cauliflower was undercooked, and the lamb wasn't tender. Also the naan itself was another $1.25 ontop of the meal, when it should be included. That-place-on-detroit, the name always escapes me, is usually where I go if mom's cooking isn't available. :p Well I can't compete with that haha - my knowledge of Indian cuisine is probably rudimentary compared to yours. Are you talking about India Garden in Lakewood? If so, I love that place.
  14. Cool Interiors of the new Cuyahoga County convention hotel will strive for an authentic sense of place CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Cuyahoga County's new 32-story, 600-room Cleveland Convention Center hotel will strive for an authentic sense of place with interiors that blend subtle influences from Cleveland's industrial past with adaptations of midcentury modernist design. That's the upshot of the latest set of renderings and plans to be presented Tuesday at a meeting of the Cuyahoga County Council by attorney Jeffrey Appelbaum, who is representing the county on the hotel, to be operated by Hilton. "The mission is to make this a Cleveland-centric project," Appelbaum said in an interview before the meeting. "People will know that the Hilton hotel is the downtown Cleveland hotel. It's sort of a Cleveland industrial-chic concept." http://www.cleveland.com/architecture/index.ssf/2014/08/interiors_proposed_for_the_new.html#incart_river
  15. You don't like "Naan?" I had it Sunday night and I thought it was bangin'.
  16. That's nice but this "Cleveland's economy depends on LeBron James" bullsh*t drives me up the wall.
  17. That is the Standard Building Read about it here: http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,29395.0.html
  18. Just so everyone is abreast of the latest goings on: The Goldfish Supply building at 210 Prospect Ave (PPN:101-28-004) AND the building next to it (PPN: 101-28-004) are at the very tail end of a tax foreclosure case - CV-13-805115 WOODS COVE II, LLC vs. PROSPECT AVENUE PROPERTIES, LLC http://cpdocket.cp.cuyahogacounty.us/CV_CaseInformation_Docket.aspx?q=RY7R9ii7HV8jkGmVFcOcbg2 On 7/09/2014: Woods Cove II, LLC (Plaintiff) was granted summary judgment and issued a decree of foreclosure. The case, however, appears to be dragging on because Woods Cove II, LLC is claiming they are owed attorney's fees by the Defendant. A hearing on the issue is set for 9/10/2014. Unless the owner comes up with some serious cash, these parcels will end up at sheriff's sale in the near future. Will be interesting to see how this plays. Remember that Weston bought the building in the middle of the block (PPN: 101-28-005) in 2012. L&R is set to transfer the easternmost building (101-28-006) and the adjacent parking lot (101-28-007) to Bob Stark if all goes according to plan (praying it does). This entire block could potentially be in the hands of entities capable and willing to actually do something with it. Fingers crossed.

KJP[/member] I found my way into a paper copy of the All Aboard Ohio periodical last week - very well done! Thanks for your work.
  20. Construction Crew Spotted at Franklin Castle Crews have been sighted on multiple occasions over the past few weeks working on windows and the interior. When Scene popped by this morning, evidence of recent work was certainly visible on the grounds of the 19th Century Victorian mansion, located at 4308 Franklin Blvd. http://www.clevescene.com/scene-and-heard/archives/2014/08/22/construction-crew-spotted-at-franklin-castle
  21. Have the diner gods answered this forum's prayers?
  22. Cleveland City Council approves 200-apartment development near Ohio City, OK's towing fee hike, and more Council unanimously voted to: 1. Rezone land for a planned residential development near the Ohio City / Tremont border The rezoning will make way for a 200-apartment plus residential development near the Ohio City and Tremont neighborhood border. The 4-acre development, west of the Carnegie (Hope Memorial) bridge, will overlook the Cuyahoga River and downtown Cleveland. The Cleveland Planning Commission gave the development a preliminary nod last February. Developer Andrew Brickman said he expects the site, which will also include commercial space, will eventually be valued at between $30 million and $40 million. "We see this project as a key point in the city's renaissance," he said. http://www.cleveland.com/cityhall/index.ssf/2014/08/cleveland_city_council_approve_6.html#incart_river
  23. Even Cleveland? You can't be taken seriously if you consider the urban fabric of downtown Cleveland and downtown Columbus to be in the same league...at least use the Short North as your point of comparison. I haven't spent enough time in Indy to compare but I doubt it is on the same level either. I really don't mean to start a pissing contest here (sincerely, I don't) but the slight was unjustified and deliberate.
  24. So Brickman is doing this on his own - not under the Abode name? Solved my own question: It will be developed under the Brickhaus Partners name. Rendering and marketing material here: http://www.brickhauspartners.com/ohio-city/index.html
