Cleveland: Downtown: nuCLEus
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stark Enterprises joint venture plans new retail, apartments, more on Gateway District parking lot CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Nearly six years after developer Bob Stark dropped plans for a large project in the Warehouse District, he's chasing another opportunity to replace downtown Cleveland parking lots with stores, apartments and offices. Stark Enterprises and J-Dek Investments Ltd. of Solon have formed a joint venture to buy three parking lots, a garage and a small building from affiliates of the L&R Group of Companies in California. The sale would put key downtown development sites in the hands of local owners and set the table for new construction on a block between East Fourth Street and Progressive Field. A real estate broker representing L&R confirmed that a deal is in the works. http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2014/08/stark_enterprises_joint_ventur.html#incart_river

2014 Gubernatorial Election
4 days can be considered forgetting, 4 weeks may even be forgivable, but 4 years? That shows a conscious disregard. I happen to like Ed but no one can claim ignorance of a lapsed driver's license for that long.

2014 Gubernatorial Election
I don't think the fact he did not have a driver's license is the problem - it is the fact that he continued to drive....for 4 years without one.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
RTA board OKs signoff on transportation role with Republican National Convention CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The RTA board on Tuesday cleared the way for the agency to sign off on transportation plans for the Republican National Convention in Cleveland two years from now. Except that board members didn't have any plans to look at. "Unfortunately, I don't have details yet," RTA General Manager Joe Calabrese said, before the board voted to give him and Board Chairman George Dixon authority to approve a transit agreement in advance of the Republican National Committee meeting Friday in Chicago. http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2014/08/rta_board_oks_signoff_on_trans.html#incart_river

Cleveland Rapid Rail Construction Projects (Non-Service Issues)
KJP[/member] - do you think RTA could do the Lorain Ave pedestrian walkway with $150,000? I don't know much about construction costs but $150K just doesn't sound like a lot of money.

Great Lakes Cruises Stopping In Cleveland.. Why Not?
Cool....there was already a thread for this. Cleveland ready to welcome a growing Great Lakes cruise ship industry CLEVELAND, Ohio--To a city accustomed to seeing mighty lakers and international freighters steam past the harbor lights, a different kind of ship will present itself Monday. The Grande Mariner, a sleek luxury liner, will sail into Cleveland Harbor around noon and send 88 passengers strolling down gangplanks into the West Bank of the Flats. "You have a marvelous city to visit," said Stephen Burnett, executive director of the Kingston, Ontario-based Great Lakes Cruising Coalition, which supports the blossoming industry. "Your lovely waterfront. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. You're definitely on the radar." http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2014/07/cleveland_ready_to_welcome_a_g.html#incart_river

Cleveland: Public Square Redesign
Ahh well then surely the concerns are immaterial - I'm so glad you solved that for us through your google search! What other site on the internet, other than urbanohio.com, would have discussion on that issue? Do reporters write articles about cat-calling?

Cleveland: Public Square Redesign
Hts121[/member] I would agree. When I first moved to Brooklyn Hts. I could hear every thing from the BQE and I was blocks away. But I'm a super light sleeper. The Shaker Rapid whistle wakes me up. NYC is a place where people walk the majority of the time and see all types of people of various races, ages, sexuality, religions, etc. They take the "noise" with a grain of salt. I think Boston, Philly, Chicago, and San Fran are very similar. It's apart of the urbane lifestyle that people are accustomed and drawn to. Is much the criticism regarding the bus stops due to hypersensitivity and stereotyping? Definitely. That said, the bad behavior, cat-calling, fighting, screaming, and general rowdiness on the PS does exist and has been discussed here at length. As someone who walks through/by/sits on PS daily, I have been witness to lots of behavior that would repel plenty of people who can choose where to spend their time - and it most certainly does. To be clear, PS is not a lawless catastrophe or complete disaster as some may make it sound but it does have its very real challenges. The "Clevelanders are hicks" dismissal or constant allegations of racism (whether insinuated or outright) every time someone criticizes PS is ridiculous. PS is not a total train-wreck but it doesn't do anyone any favors to ignore justified criticism.

Michael Symon to open new barbecue restaurant, Mabel's BBQ, in East Fourth Street La Strada spot CLEVELAND, Ohio -- There'll be a barbecue joint coming to downtown Cleveland. And it will have Michael Symon's name on it. Mabel's BBQ will open late this fall on East Fourth Street. It will occupy the former home of La Strada, 2050 East Fourth St., which the Michael Symon Restaurant Group acquired in mid-June. Original plans were for a casual food plan concept or possibly an urban location for the B Spot burgers concept. In the end, Symon says we went with a longtime passion. http://www.cleveland.com/dining/index.ssf/2014/07/smoke_in_the_air_michael_symon.html#incart_2box

A team led by developer John T. Murphy will lease the 1.8-acre site from the Clinic, which acquired the last of the land in June.
