It would be great to see how the public polls on this.

The nanny state....except the the nanny is the Cleveland City Council...
  3. I'm so excited to watch this fight again for the 8378th time!
  4. Cities can't do much to actively retain residents as most of the opportunities or lack thereof are due to macroeconomic trends with causes and effects legions above what a City government can even hope to control for. If people are moving, we can assume that it is for a good reason - to find greener pastures elsewhere because their current situation isn't working out. That is actually a good thing. Population loss looks bad on paper but we can assume that the people who moved have traded up, not down.
  5. ^ I would expect not. I assume even the most unsophisticated criminals would be aware that a new Red Line station would be camera-ed up to the hilt. But then again....these guys probably aren't in this line of work due to their intelligence...

Yep, flannel, Red Wings boots, Carhartt, and Levis are practically in our DNA up here. The working class stuff that the hipsters jumped on never really disappeared here.
  7. ^ I do. The old scoreboard sucked big time.
  8. ^ Wish I could triple like that comment.
  9. ^ Not picked up by any major outlets. I'm calling BS.
  10. I think the early settlers coming to pre-industrial America probably did come for an opportunity to own land and escape some of the conditions in Europe (crowding maybe among them). People coming over in the later waves (some of the 2nd and definitely the 3rd) during the industrial period though did settle in dense manufacturing centers. I think it really depends on the time period you're talking about.
  11. ^ I would say that this project and the Creamery are creating a new context.
  12. Wow, insane GB comeback. Detroit and Cleveland are competing for the most idiotic way to lose a football game at the last second.
  13. Remember this robbery from this summer? Looks like they identified the guy and charged him. Teen charged as adult in Edgewater Beach armed robbery http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2015/12/teen_charged_as_adult_in_edgew.html#incart_river_index
  14. I'll walk thanks...
  15. Do they actually play music or just decorative?
  16. Also how Mace came to Cleveland.
  17. I know Shaker Heights is known for uniformity but man, it's a bummer that nothing is over 4 stories. Once you get above the tree and building canopy you get incredible views of the City in the Heights given their elevation. I would gladly pay more for an office or apartment with views of the City which only really come into focus over 3 stories.
  18. I thought that was at the CMHA community meeting, not the block club. My bad, didn't read carefully enough.
  19. She did. But it sounds like many who spoke before her weren't.
  20. Imagine opposing the construction of a building you can't afford to live in for the sole fact that you can't afford to live in it. If that is not nakedly destructive envy, I don't know what is. REMOVED
