Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
It is more remote than the current site, but it isn't nearly as bad as what is going on in Buffalo with their brand new stadium. Dare I say I would take the BP site over the Buffalo site.

Does anyone have any information about what happened to the apartment project that was going next to Sully's right off the square?

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
Could the current stadium be torn down and the soccer stadium be built here? I would think that with the smaller footprint of the soccer stadium, there could be practice fields built as well, which would encourage outdoor activity during warmer months. Just an idea.

People playing soccer or rugby has no bearing on why the Browns suck right now. People play soccer and rugby in Kansas City as well...

Cleveland: Tremont: Development and News
That video was garbage IMO. I had never, not once in my career, heard about the FD demanding wider streets because of our big trucks. Cleveland, for the most part, has decent sized streets. Areas like Tremont, Little Italy, parts of the E.55 St Clair, and some West side neighborhoods are tightly packed...but we were always able to get to the fires. Boston, NYC, Baltimore and Philly as well. Also, the author failed to mention the amount of equipment we carry on our engines, trucks, and heavy rescues. Our trucks may be bigger, but we don't need as many to respond to bring specialized equipment. I could go on and on...but this isn't old grumpy fireman forum! :)

When I was stationed on the East side, I found the skyline at night looked great from the E93/Woodhill area...the Eastbound shoreway view is pretty darn good too!

I hate to comment in this thread because I feel it is so polarizing, but I don't think this offer will be enough. I feel the Browns organization have wanted a dome the whole time. I'm not sure how Brookpark will accommodate this desire monetarily, but we shall see. The idea of the football village is a good idea, but in my opinion the location is just terrible. I was a Cleveland resident for 30 years, but now I am back to where I grew up (Medina). I can speak from both sides of the fence as to location. I think the dome would serve DT much better than Brookpark. Beyond football, whatever would be going on in the dome, there is much more to do DT than in BP. As far as safety, suburban folks seem to think there are hordes of criminals just waiting for them when they enter the city. Yes, there is a crime element, but don't think that these same criminals won't make their way to BP on game day (or whatever may be going on). I have a feeling other than game day, this project will turn into a dead zone. What will the draw be? Shopping? Bars? restaurants? What ancillaries does BP offer? It will be busy for a bit I am sure, but once the shininess wears off will it be a destination? I haven't even scratched on the traffic situation and the logistics that are going to have to be planned out to relieve the highway back up on game days. What about RTA trains? Will they extend beyond the airport to the "village"? I'm not sure what it would have taken to sell the DT land to the Haslam's or if it even could have been done, but once they purchased in BP I feel it was a done deal. I think this last minute proposal was to make the city look as if they weren't going down without a fight, but I feel the fight was over before it started. I hope I will eat crow on this one, but I doubt it.

I've played on both, and for me, I'll take a nicely manicured grass field over turf. Aside from the knee, ankle, and turf toe injuries...turf is not as forgiving as grass for head injuries.

You are correct, there are small spiral staircases. I was up there during an inspection for the fire department, it was an awesome view!

Unless I glossed over it...I wish they would have included the idea of making the waterfront line a loop.

Let's talk a little about the parking garage in this project. Looking at the overhead view, there seems to be a considerable distance from the outer edges of the garage and the street. Is there more to be added? Is the street level retail portion area? If this isn't to be developed immediately, can anyone speak on how the garage will be wrapped until that portion comes to fruition?

With the demolition of the stadium, they could just replace it with a giant parking lot. Hear me out, the parking lot could be a giant mutiplex drive-in theater...suburban surface lot fan boi's would be happy AND there would be outdoor family fun! Okay, anyway, back on topic. I am not a fan of the Browns leaving the city proper, but at least it isn't going to Richfield. It WILL hurt downtown businesses with what would have been game days, but I do think that can be leveled out throughout the year with more residential and business ventures on the site. A Gold Coast type area with outdoor activities for summer, but include some form of bar/restaurant/shopping as well would work nicely. Water access with all this would be key. As far as traffic during game day in Brookpark...yikes. I wonder if being so close to the highways would actually back up traffic ON the highways? I know it would be pie in the sky, but expansion and addition to the red line would be key. Maybe an extension to Bagley/I-71 with a park-n-ride parking deck? It's too bad they couldn't redo the disaster they made at 71 and 480 and make it a cloverleaf while the are at it. Just some off the cuff and not planned out ideas on my part, feel free to add or correct.
