  1. I would like clarity on the definition of affordable housing in this instance. Does it mean section 8 or does it mean apartments that are priced cheaper than some of the other downtown apartment options?
  2. Magellan backed out if the whole project or just the hotel part of it?
  3. I still think this such a disjointed plan. I personally think that the cutsie little center should be on the "super block" and the tower should be on the square. Unfortunately , the connectivity of the center and the parking garage to the tower would not work out the way SHW envision it if the tower were on the square...because (OMG) people would actually have to leave the hamster cage to get to other buildings! I wish they would have let Geowizical take a crack at the renders, so far those have been the best.
  4. My wife just walked in the room and asked me if I was watching porn...I told her it was better...a Ken Prendergast report!
  5. I am okay with residential, but I would rather see well made classic brownstones rather than just single family homes. The suburban look in the city just isn't for me (I think of the East side along Chester).
  6. How could such an awesome website come from a fossil? http://www.scranton-averell.com/
  7. I know there are always tweaks to be made, but overall I like this project. I hope that the support and the money will be there to make this actually happen...and soon! The question is (and the day will eventually come) what happens when a new stadium is actually needed? I am sure that this project is being built "around" the current stadium. Would a new stadium be built on the old footprint? Where would the team play in the meantime? (Columbus or maybe Buffalo?) Does this project thrive on being built around a stadium? If so, how would it survive if there were no longer a stadium there? Would whatever infill be enough to keep the area vibrant, or would it turn into an "island" that may or may not work? I know there are no solid answers to these questions (even the transit center hasn't been fully addressed) I am just thinking on screen.
  8. I agree, maybe something like this for Cleveland...(these are Columbus, OH) https://www.trulia.com/p/oh/columbus/230-e-gay-st-g23-columbus-oh-43215--2097062243
  9. I personally think the square needs to be unified, then Mall C needs to have more amenities, and then you have Voinovich Park. I don't think something like Grant Park would work in Cleveland. First, we don't have that large of a space. Second, even if we did have that kind of continuous space, we don't have that population.
  10. ^ Well, with that ray of sunshine, I guess the moderators should just delete this thread.
  11. ^ HA...I used to work door/security at Noisemakers! Blast from the past.
  12. "The new flats is developing into something much better than the old flats. " It depends on what you find fun. Growing up with the "old" flats...it was like Mardi Gras North. No., it wasn't pristine and full of new buildings, but it was a blue collar good time (until the White administration let it get out of hand). Riverfest...it was quite a sight! "And pining for WMMS? Aren't they playing the latest Hoobastank and Staind tracks right now?" I wouldn't call it pining, maybe just remembering... WMMS was THE rock station at one time. In the before times, music was actually played by a DJ, and they even took requests. You didn't hear the "popular" songs looped over and over all day. I am older, and it may sound old...but I actually like music that can be played...on instruments...and doesn't require a studio and computer to recreate the music. Sorry...I went off topic
  13. Is there signage for "future home" on the lots? I hope that there are signs on all lots that are about to be developed so our city doesn't look like a barren wasteland of parking. On a side note, does anyone know if they are doing pop up bars/shops for the NFL draft?
  14. Could this be a hint that the Realife high-rise is back in play?....
  15. That would have been a great place to build a new fire station to take the place of the piece of junk on W.117th. The opinion comes from someone who worked at that station for 7 years.
  16. I read all the threads and see a lot of really nice developments that are met with fierce opposition and it just baffles me. The "NIMBY's" move into a neighborhood, gentrify it, and then want to keep it the way THEY want it. They seem to want a quiet piece of the suburbs right in the city. Do they take into consideration what those who live/lived in these neighborhoods felt before they moved in? Do they realize this is an URBAN area? I am starting to see a Chicagoesque vibe starting in Cleveland, it's unfortunate that NIMBY's want to stop it. The city should weigh the investments being made in the city that may bring IN population against the whining of these block associations that want to either downsize or scrap any plan that comes along just to keep their perceived Mayberry on their block.
  17. I'm a little concerned with KJP's screen shot, it looks like the SW HQ is only going to be about 10 floors...bummer! :)
  18. From the SW site... Q12. Are design renderings available? [New] We are still working through the site development process and design planning for both facilities. That said, we are excited to share proposed site development plans that provide a high-level footprint of buildings, parking and green spaces for each site. Over the coming months, these plans will be refined and reviewed by the City of Cleveland and the City of Brecksville as required by their respective planning and design organizations. You can view the site plans here. Based upon the work completed to date, we expect to submit design plans to each city during the second half of 2021. Q17. When does Sherwin-Williams expect to break ground? [Updated] The Company expects to break ground at both sites no later than fourth quarter 2021. Overall, the transition to the new facilities is expected to occur by the end of 2024.
  19. While I do get the height being out of place in the immediate area, I think it fits the overall look of the skyline(IMO), and it could lead to further development down the road. (example being Citibank in Queens)
  20. Awesome drone shots! From this perspective, where was/is the second phase going to be built?
  21. A jail in The Pit...my old tailgating grounds. A jail there with the cliff in the background...it would be reminiscent of Château d'If
  22. "Sherwin-Williams' (SHW) stodgy corporate culture is colliding with its desire to attract young talent." That simple opening sentence made my hopes sink as soon as I read it. At this point in the game it seems a little late that there may be a culture change. Due diligence, is it still a thing? Wouldn't it be prudent to see what attracts new, young employees? What would help this project "fit" into the urban fabric, attract young employees, be a functional workplace, and be the crown jewel of the city? I am sure that someone involved in the planning of this project HAS to have their finger on the pulse of public opinion (UrbanOhio). I get it, they answer to the shareholders. I also get that cranking the creativity of this project isn't going to bankrupt this company! You would think that shareholders would want the very best talent they can get working for SW, which in the long run would drive shares UP. There are always exceptions to the rule, but you need to spend money to make money. C'mon you "stodgy" son's of guns, look around the country/world and see how the companies that are attracting young talent are doing it. Step out of the past and into the future!
  23. ^ Would the "future development" are on the SW block be a possibility?
  24. Where is the "Lincoln" located?
