  1. Hell, make it 12 lanes...you'll still have slow moving texters in the left lane not knowing why they are getting the finger...
  2. ^ That should have been worked out to be a cloverleaf design...not all people traveling through there are familiar with 176...just poorly thought out by ODOT...as usual. Dead Man's curve, using wide swaths of land for every exit and entrance ramp, not capping off highways that run through a city center, despising public transportation...the list goes on and on.
  3. Maybe those were Urbanohio tailgaters watching things unfold! In all seriousness though, what does soil sampling actually do? Depth of bedrock? Soil makeup? I'm just curious...
  4. If the city was smart...yes, I actually said that...they would consider a new fire training academy as well. That would open up land to realign dead mans curve and get rid of an undersized antiquated academy as well. The FD had to send their arson investigators to Columbus as well when that was going on, and it was the main reason I decided not to explore a different job description. I believe the reason the CPD recruits had to go to OHP for training wasn't because of numbers, but rather the investigation by the Feds. CPD sent all new recruits to Columbus until they were again approved, which is why I chose against the arson unit. As much as the city and the training staff from CPD and CFD don't want to hear this, Tri-C has the best facility around. As far as training goes, Cleveland should use Tri-C and their facilities. Cleveland could staff the training classes with their own personnel in order to teach Cleveland SOP's/G.O.'s (for police and fire) and not have to worry about spending money on training facilities. I'm sure there could be a finance package that would benefit both the city and Tri-C that could make this happen. As far as an HQ, I see nothing wrong with new site. They should, however, still have a good presence downtown, maybe by utilizing the facility on Payne Ave more.
  5. Okay....changing the subject from financing to height speculation. I know a "guy" (his kid plays hockey with mine) that was working on the lot downtown and was telling me that SHW was planning on building a 75 story building. While he is not employed by SHW, and I am not sure where he got that info...it would be really cool if true!
  6. For those confused...those were quotes from Roadhouse...
  7. I thought you'd be bigger...
  8. Both of the above mentioned arenas were built pre 9/11.
  9. I would also think that it would be a security/homeland security nightmare. Having a stadium full of people and then running trains under it would be a security logistics issue. Imagine that train with a bomb on board.
  10. I was wondering about this project...good to hear. So we have this, Geis tower which is being market tested with the Supior condos, Realife which is a no go (and maybe never was), nuCLEus which is awaiting the State....I hope there is more to come!
  11. edit..I realized my comment was late to the game
  12. I am going to get hammered for this one...imagine if the new iconic HQ was a glass tower, but they used multicolored glass (like sunglasses or sports visors) using the Sherwin Williams color palette...
  13. The IX center would need to go to make the airport a large player. It would need the room for a new terminal AND to have parallel runways to allow simultaneous landings/takeoffs. If I recall correctly, the work done on the runway gave it length to accommodate larger planes, but it is too close for simultaneous operations.
  14. What about the spot where the LeBron billboard once was...is that a buildable lot? It would be very close to public transit but a little further from the courts.
  15. I was joking...as in execution, a harsh punishment for a poor facade ?
  16. That's a bit harsh! They are only doors...
  17. Okay, dumb question, but does the riverfront plan include the lot/space where the LeBron billboard once was?
  18. I am wondering if they didn't mention Ken at his request or if they left his name out on their own..."local blogger"
  19. So Fox 8 finally jumped on the Boyd bandwagon.. https://fox8.com/2019/10/24/what-will-it-take-to-keep-sherwin-williams-in-cleveland/
  20. ^ I like the 60 stories or more comment ?
  21. Has the frame reached maximum height for this project?
  22. Okay, so I am a little confused with some of the latest banter on here. Is the next potential Justice Center holding up a decision as to where the SW HQ will be going , or does SW have a green light to pick where it wants to go?
  23. The riverfront component looks great...but where will they squeeze in phase 2 of the casino? ( ? )
  24. ^ Home rule in theory is great...if a city actually knows how to "rule" itself...
  25. So I ran into a teammate last night in my adult hockey league, both of us being injured we were watching the game. In asking him about his injury I also asked him what he did for a living. Supervisor for R&D at Sherwin Williams! Trying not to pry...ok, actually obviously prying, I asked him about his thoughts on DT vs Brecksville. He just smiled and turned his head and said...no comment. I then said, as long as your not selling your house and moving to Minneapolis! He laughed again. He reverted back to his time returning to work (and this is where I dropped the ball) and said "let me just say I going back to work on the 12th for a reason". Where I dropped the ball was, at first he thought he was going to be off for an extended period due to hamstring surgery reattachment, but then the timeframe got shortened . So did he say the 12th? or 12 weeks? (Which would make it 9 more weeks). It was loud and I couldn't hear him as well as I would have liked. Okay super sleuths, would either of these time frames mean anything for announcements?
