  1. Oh my. Is GCRTAs general manager attitude towards rail a reflection of the mayors?
  2. Isn't there already a large visible lot right before the bridge on the right if you're heading towards euclid? I know I've parked in there before.
  3. I feel like they wouldn't be designing a new Van Aken station or doing the blue line extension study if they expected to just abandon the line though.... Unless the station can be converted to BRT stops... I've barely ridden blue or green so I don't know them well. Must be some options?
  4. Are they still adding the Chandelier over the intersection? A lot of people thought it sounded tacky but...I kinda liked it... : x
  5. Which I THINK would be a sign that it really is just temporary...I could tolerate a temporary lot, I would be depressed with a permanent garage.
  6. I mean sure...running for governor or not, he'd be foolish to gun for the opposite :-o I just hope he SUCCEEDS in making this good for the city. The thought of this actually being, as the Cleveland.com commenters would put, a "boondoggle" (I can't believe I said that word... :drunk: ) makes me feel ill. The last I heard, the Med mart had leased a lot of space out, didn't it? I don't really know much about what the planned business model is...it seems like there is much reason to be optimistic though.
  7. Very excited about this station...I'm in Little Italy/UC all the time. The only "bad" news is that it's still 18-24 months from completion
  8. Is the heinens supposed to open in a relatively quick time frame? I imagine it wouldn't take too long since they already have a building, but maybe they'll wait till the adjacent tower is finished filling with tenets?
  9. Is "nose dive" really the best way to put it? From what I remember/ heard, the potential revenue suggested for the casino were always criticized as likely inflated. It still has a pretty big revenue stream, but should we be worried? I feel like we'd need phase two just to stay competitive with northfield.
  10. Sure, it is a pipe dream if we act as if it is a pipe dream. Or, if we so choose, it is a realistic possibility if we pursue it as such. Creation of built environments is an act of will. You get out of it what you put into it. So is this rail service worth fighting for? I like that thinking. I'm new to this stuff but if that is the proposal somewhere I'd come speak out in support for it in meetings or etc...I get so tired of needing to drive everywhere.
  11. Is that really a rail line all the way out to Willoughby? Man, I live in Lake County and I would ride that thing aaall the time if it was there. That's pretty much a pipe dream, though, right?
  12. A few that I have seen on many peoples' minds: In your videos, you seem to offer this as some sort of transportation solution. How so? Many of your stops are paralleling routes already covered by our underutilized waterfront line, and this is slower and carries less people per hour. The only thing that's different is that it is in the sky. I have a hard time seeing some of these routes as a transportation solution and not a novelty. The only routes I really thought might be cool/effective were the ones that extend to the parks on the west side. It's not that I think novelties are bad, but as planned now this one will stretch all across our view of the lake in front of the city. Why should we give up an unobstructed view of the waterfront for this? You're asking for 500,000 dollars on indiegogo for just a feasibility study. Actually constructing this project could cost millions. How might you approach funding that? Who is going to upkeep the system and can we expect it to sustain itself? I suppose we could only know those answers after the study is finished, but I ask because If we had the money needed to construct this, why not just expand/improve our existing, underutilized transportation systems that are faster, carry more people, and are easier to maintain? To be honest, I don't see people vacationing in Cleveland just to ride a gondola, but nor do I see this offering much substance to people who depend on public transportation, maybe with the exception of riding from the east side to the west side parks. Right now I am not for it or against it, I am just very hesitant.
  13. RTA Ridership has been going up a lot the past three or so years, hasn't it? I'm not sure what the numbers are and I'd look it up but I'm on my phone now, but I remember hearing that the rapid ridership has especially increased from year-to-year. Sounds like a excellent trend that's only going to get better as we develop more.
  14. http://planning.city.cleveland.oh.us/lakefront/iactive/flash/6/PDF/concept_plan.pdf So I know the lakefront plan is pretty massive, but have they ever stated any kind of unofficial of time table of how long a project like this might take? Or which parts are the first/highest priority to start?
  15. Thanks! I've been lurking for a while, but I thought I'd finally start posting... :-P
