  1. That land sitting vacant land = less housing available = available housing increases in price.
  2. Yes, your ride comes with a 2 1/2 hour transfer window, starting from when you validate your ticket. It marks the transfer expiration time on the back
  3. How about Cedar Fair constructs the skylift and makes it stretch from downtown Cleveland all the way to Cedar Point? I could get behind that.

  6. ^ Some context here, Cedar Fair hired EDG to come up with a conceptual plan to pitch to prospective developers. They are hoping to sell the whole piece of property off for development. Cedar Fair has also partnered with CSU's Urban Planning Master's capstone class to come up with an alternate proposal. That will be complete by early May.
  7. ^ That seems to be the case. But then why did the city leave those paths unprotected from the terrorists since the park opened in July (including during the RNC & Women's March)??
  8. That appears to be the case. There are signs posted saying "No pedestrians. Use crosswalk" and it points to the newly painted cross walk in the middle...which as mentioned does not have a ramp. Will they put in some kind of temporary ramp? This is all do stupid. All of these safety modifications to mitigate made up safety concerns that were concocted to cover for the fact that the reason behind the closure is because they didn't want "those people" on the square. Wait. So are they saying "No Pedestrians. Use Crosswalk" at the spots specifically designed for pedestrians to cross? i.e. at the red arrows here? That seems to be the implication. We'll see where they put the barriers. I'll try to grab some pics later this afternoon
  9. ^ No, there are most definitely curbs there

  11. So these would be overhead signs, correct? Any normal size vehicle that's behind a bus is potentially going to have a hard time seeing these. Painting the streets as bus only could work, but when there's city traffic you can't generally see what's on the roadway. Lots of cities paint their bus lanes a different color, that way it's noticeable: https://ggwash.org/images/posts/201506-180025.jpg
  12. RTA hopes to reopen Public Square to buses by March 6 By Ginger Christ, The Plain Dealer Email the author | Follow on Twitter on February 21, 2017 at 9:29 AM, updated February 21, 2017 at 9:38 AM CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority plans to reopen Public Square to buses in less than two weeks, if all goes as planned. During an RTA board meeting today, RTA CEO Joe Calabrese said he hopes to have buses running on Superior through the square by March 6. That is one day before the final deadline given to RTA by the Federal Transit Administration to reopen the square to buses before it will enforce a $12-million fee. http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2017/02/rta_plans_to_reopen_public_squ.html
  13. RTA and city staff are out on Public Square this morning, looking to be running through the logistics of opening Superior. There are also two buses parked on the east end.
  14. Based on what I've heard most recently, I wouldn't except to see much about phase 3 anytime soon.

  18. There's a casino in the south Baltimore suburbs called Maryland "Live!". I was wondering if that was the same outfit as well. Yes, those are all Cordish developments. As is the Power and Light District in Kansas City, Powerplant Live! in Baltimore, XFINITY LIVE! in Philly, 4th Street Live! in Lousiville, and they are also doing one near the new arena in Mid-Town Detroit
  19. Because you can't re-route RTA at minimal cost, as the recent study demonstrated. Even if you spend the money to put in a bunch of technology and bus lanes and signal priority, RTA would still lose hundreds of thousands of dollars per year by having to go around th square. I agree that we should aim to compromise, but running buses through Superior was the compromise. The mayor wanted it closed from the start, but he agreed to this arrangement years ago.
  20. I haven't heard anyone ask this question yet, so this is what I would ask at the next press conference: "The city has been claiming that opening Superior to bus traffic would leave the square open to a vehicular terrorist attack, yet the entrances to Superior have been virtually unprotected since August, including during the Women's March which drew 15,000 people to the square. The only barricades have been "road closed" construction signs. So, has the city been derelict in its duty to protect its citizens during that time or do they not actually view terrorism to be a significant risk?" Am I missing something here? It seems like those are the only two options.
  21. It's very rare that I see the ice rink totally empty (I don't often go by it during business hours on a weekday, but I assume it's often empty then). But the important thing here is that having a vibrant public square with events and ice skaters and fountain revelers is not mutually exclusive with having people waiting for buses and buses going through Superior. Unfortunately the mayor's imprudent actions have marred the narrative about our new beautiful public space.

I just came to check this thread and had to scroll pretty far up to see why Baltimore housing was being discussed at such length in the Cleveland mayoral race thread.... Anyways, ICYMI, the mayor is finally on Twitter: @CleMayorJackson Roldo has had some strong words about the mayor this week http://havecoffeewillwrite.com/?p=54240 http://havecoffeewillwrite.com/?p=54303
