  1. ^ Yes. This. It would be great for him. Connect his casino, shopping mall, and hotel with a rail line to a natural park. How many other casinos could offer those kind of amenities?
  2. I wouldn't be opposed if he wants to help fund a streetcar line here too ;)
  3. I just hope they keep the Dollar store. Love that place (Not being sarcastic)
  4. Ohio Theatre returns to its 1921 splendor with renovations nearly complete KARIN CONNELLY RICE | TUESDAY, MARCH 22, 2016 The restoration of Playhouse Square’s Ohio Theatre lobby is almost complete, with the space returned to its original grandeur. The May completion will mark the final project on the Playhouse Square theater renovations list. Last Saturday, Tom Einhouse, Playhouse Square’s vice president of facilities and capital, led members of the Cleveland Restoration Society on a tour of the lobby, which has been shielded from public view by drywall during the restorations. He detailed the painstaking research and physical work that went into re-creating the 1921 Thomas Lamb design. Restoration began in June 2015. http://freshwatercleveland.com/devnews/OhioTheatre032216.aspx
  5. From Michelle's article: "Now Forest City...owns just two pieces of the sprawling Tower City Center complex. One is Terminal Tower, the iconic office building where Forest City has its headquarters. The other is Post Office Plaza, where recent and possible departures of office tenants have complicated Forest City's sale efforts."
  6. There are some cool construction photos in the slideshow that I have never seen before
  7. Google Maps has a neat feature that will outline the borders of a particular neighborhood or city. Neighborhood boundaries are not always consistent or well defined, but it can give you a good idea. Just type in "Glenville, Cleveland, OH" in Google Maps, for example, and it will pop up

This has been an ongoing thing for the esteemed councilman from Ward 2 http://legacy.wkyc.com/story/news/politics/2014/03/04/cleveland--councilman-calls-for-removing-wahoo-banners/6038833/

^ Ahh, right. Joe Santiago. Forgot about him.

I second this. I'd also add that he is very emotionally mature. He's a great choice. He's also city council's first Millennial member and, to my knowledge, first openly gay member.
  12. I had heard that he was causing problems for this development, but I didn't know the details. Dow is the biggest POS on council

The PD comes out with an editorial every now and then denouncing the practice. Here's one: http://www.cleveland.com/opinion/index.ssf/2015/01/brian_kazy_appointment_illustr.html

^ At 27 years old, I'm sure Kerry is more capable than more than half of the other idiots that make up city council. As a fellow 27 year old, I welcome it (I do wish Joe had picked someone not from Cleveland or even an immigrant, and at least not someone with a politically connected father). As for process, have you not heard of the "unit rule"? If anyone votes against his nomination, they are barred from the Democratic caucus in council.

Cleveland City Councilman Joe Cimperman names Kerry McCormack as successor By Leila Atassi, cleveland.com on March 18, 2016 at 11:58 AM CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Cleveland City Councilman Joe Cimperman, who leaves council next month to head up the nonprofit agency Global Cleveland, has tapped political newcomer Kerry McCormack as his successor to represent Ward 3. McCormack, the director of Community Affairs for Ohio City Inc., is the son of Ohio Court of Appeals Judge Tim McCormack. He served as his father's campaign manager in 2010 and his resume touts experience in politics and community organizing. http://www.cleveland.com/cityhall/index.ssf/2016/03/cleveland_city_councilman_joe_5.html
  16. I love the St. Paddy's Day themed all day passes. Apparently they were stamped on the back with the location of purchase in case the rider was a bit too inebriated on the way home and forgot where they got on
  17. That's true. If there were an easier way to get to the Red Line, as it currently runs, from the eastern side of downtown/CSU's campus, it would make rail travel between downtown & UC much more viable. I do hope that we'll see a rail line along the Euclid corridor similar to the Dual Hub plan one day though

I give Wiedefeld credit. This couldn't have been an easy decision to make, but after years and years of ignoring safety concerns, it's good to see WMATA's new GM actually values the safety of the riders.

    Don't think that's the case
  21. ^ Quite true. I should have said the area immediately adjacent to and visible from the RTA right of way.
  22. Someone else mentioned that on twitter. I don't ride the REd-line very often but how does it compare to the Blue/green? They're pretty awful immediately after Shaker Square. I'd say the Red Line is worse. There are tires, appliances, mattresses, etc along the right of way, in addition to your typical trash. The difference is that most of the Red Line right of way is not owned by RTA, thus making clean up more difficult. That's not the case for the Blue/Green Line Shaker Blvd trench.
  23. RNC welcome to Cleveland: Trash along RTA's airport route should be cleaned up before convention By James F. McCarty, The Plain Dealer on March 15, 2016 at 7:00 AM, updated March 15, 2016 at 7:03 AM CLEVELAND, Ohio – When an estimated 50,000 delegates and political operatives descend on the city for the Republican National Convention in July, most will likely fly into Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. Many of them are expected to opt for the cheapest and most direct mode of transportation to downtown: RTA's rapid transit trains. ...About 1-1/2 years ago, Valarie McCall, Cleveland's chief of Government and International Affairs, took a ride on the Red Line and realized something had to done. "I was disgusted when I first saw it," McCall said during a phone interview Monday... http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2016/03/rnc_welcome_to_cleveland_trash_along_rtas_airport_route_should_be_cleaned_up_before_convention_photos.html Does that mean that Valarie McCall had not taken a ride on the Red Line until just a year ago?
