  1. Almost all articles like this are the result of efforts by Destination Cleveland. But they can’t control how the authors write their stories.
  2. Keep in mind, the new CEO of Cedar Fair has made his offices in Charlotte instead of the Sandusky headquarters location. That being said, he did publicly commit to keeping Cedar Fair's headquarters in Sandusky. Also, Cedar Point is by far their most successful property. The more lucrative part of the amusement industry today is less about the parks themselves, but about the resort experience surrounding the parks. No other Cedar Fair park has as much potential as Cedar Point when it comes to a full resort experience and extended stays.

  4. Sandusky Transit continues to smash last year's ridership numbers
  5. Unfortunately, many people say that same thing, but they are not being sarcastic. I'm glad at least one (and soon two) surface lots on that map are gone now because of the Lumen (and nucleus).
  6. There's nowhere to park downtown?
  7. No, Cleveland is not in play to land Amazon, and never was.
  8. Oh, come on. There were many substantive points in Allard's piece that warrant discussion, imo, but Allard's personal upbringing is irrelevant to this discussion.
  9. I thought this was the nuCLEus thread, not the psychoanalyzing of Sam Allard thread.

The portion of Chester from E 55th to University Circle wasn't built until the mid-1930s, so 322 originally ran down Euclid.
  12. I've seen a lot of people talking about these different "proposals" on social media, and some people expressing concern about different routes, so, just to reiterate, they make it clear that these are not proposals but just strictly conceptual. I'm sure any actual system redesign would be somewhere in the middle between the two.
  13. That's because the waterfront line is very low ridership, and it also reduces the Green Line to rush hour only for the same reason. But Blue Line ridership would likely increase if it goes to 15 minute frequency. But again, they made it clear that it is not a proposal, but just an illustration of what a system that prioritizes only ridership and frequency would look like.
  14. No it doesn't, it increases the Blue Line frequency to 15 minutes. At the bottom, it also boldly states "This is not a proposal"
  15. What are you referring to?
  16. Well, if it makes you feel any better, Nashville sucks and is just a big sprawling city with few walkable neighborhoods, and their public transit is awful. Who cares about how tall their buildings are ?
  17. The city was pushing hard to get Fresh Market to move their proposed store up to front Warrensville, instead of it being set back with parking like is shown there. Last I heard though, Fresh Market pulled out of the development completely, so perhaps there will be an opportunity to reimagine that site plan if another tenant wants to go into that spot?
  18. I'm not sure of the full reasons, but I imagine it might have something to do with the fact that they have to go through a Customs check when they get off the boat and they have mobile Customs units at the Port. I suspect it may be more difficult to do that in a site like the E 9th St Pier where the dock isn't in a contained area. But as far as the Lumen goes, I'm much more interested in what it does to the street level along such a busy portion of Euclid than I am about what views it blocks in the skyline.
  19. Today was the ceremonial groundbreaking for the new Cedar Fair/BGSU Resort & Attraction Management Facility in downtown Sandusky. When done, it'll have 80 apartments, four classrooms, and almost 1,500 square feet of retail space. And best of all, it's being built on a surface parking lot.
  20. Here's the consultant's presentation: http://www.riderta.com/sites/default/files/events/2019-04-16RailCar.pdf The cost estimates used in the Cleveland.com article (not a Plain Dealer article) seem to come from the "total 30-year lifecycle cost" estimates, which I think covers mid-life overhauls.
  21. ^ I've seen this online quite a bit, but I've yet to see a good source on it. Not saying it's not true, but still waiting to see a legit source.
  22. Would they even want to rebuild it with wood though? The Cologne Cathedral's roof was built in the 1800s and they used iron instead of wood (as iron was available by the 19th Century but not in the Middle Ages.) It seems like it'd make more sense to use steel or some metal?
  23. Some exciting things happening in downtown Sandusky this month. On April 27th, the new indoor Marketplace at the Cooke will have a grand opening: https://www.facebook.com/events/2441266766193298/. And the BGSU/Cedar Fair resort school will be breaking ground in a few weeks.
