  1. A couple years ago, I did a very rough photoshop job of removing the wires along Mayfield. It would look soooo much better with buried utilities.
  2. That's a ridiculous stance for CRS to take. Little Italy has a very diverse collection of building stock and this is not "disrupting the density, scale, and vernacular style of the neighborhood." This will be getting rid of a few surface parking lots, restoring a few single-family houses, and the two houses that would be demolished aren't exactly noteworthy historic structures.
  3. My only real memory of that place is that it's where I watched game 7 of the 2016 World Series. So, I'm not sad to see it demolished.
  4. Also the 2-story brick building on Prospect that’s home to Nick’s Bar
  5. They're well on their way Playhouse Square Food and Beverage Republic Green Rooster Farms Cibreo Bin 216
  6. The competition from the record store was definitely part of it. They were also concerned about space limitations and the ability to expand in the future if they went to the Tower City site.
  7. A couple years ago, I went out on my bike one night and tried to count how many different types of street lights there were downtown. I took pics of 15 different ones, but I'm sure I missed some others. In other cities they have one style for the entirety of downtown. Downtown Detroit used to be similar to Cleveland in this regard, but they recently replaced all of their downtown street light posts.
  8. No, there's also: Champs, Bath & Body Works, Game Stop, Foot Locker, GNC, Claire's, and maybe a couple more?
  9. Correct
  10. 35 is too high for Franklin. In my mind, almost all city streets should be 25 or less.
  11. The article said on-campus, so I'm assuming they will live in either Euclid Commons or Fenn Tower. But, long term, they are examining building a new freshman dorm.

Correct. And it was WWI https://clevelandhistorical.org/items/show/691
  13. Here's a picture of them. I first noticed them when I was back in Cleveland in late December. They were pretty easy to use too.
  14. I don't know if this has been reported already or not, but FTA's December 2018 ridership numbers have finally been posted to the NTD, and RTA's ridership was just over 35 million, an 11% drop from last year (and a new all-time low).
  15. ^ Ah, Yes, exactly. Sorry, I misread your post.
  16. That's not how transit works though. When you have finite resources, you need to balance between service coverage and frequency. As agencies reexamine their networks, they need to make a decision whether they value running buses out to low-density suburbs more or running increased frequency on high density corridors more, and then balance those two accordingly. That's what this survey is trying to capture. Jarrett Walker, the consultant who is doing RTA's study, explains it better here: https://humantransit.org/basics/the-transit-ridership-recipe#ridershipcoveragetradeoff
  17. I was in Jackson, MS a few years ago. And it’s the only place in the United States I’ve been to that had streets in worse shape that in Cleveland.
  18. I thought they moved their offices to the Higbee Building a few years ago.
  19. Here's a map of the district. I circled the house in red.
  20. It's in the Magnolia-Wade Park Historic District

One party rule isn't the problem necessarily. There are plenty of heavily Democratic cities out there that have effective local leaders. To people saying we need a GOP mayor, it was the big Republican donors who supported Jackson's 4th term. The more progressive wing of the Democratic party has been very vocal about corruption in general and are not supportive of the mayor.
  22. That's awesome. Mine was the Geauga Lake project from a few years ago (http://levin.urban.csuohio.edu/geaugalake100/), which ended up being fun, but I would have much rather done a TOD site in the city. I look forward to seeing what you guys do with it.
  23. I saved the pdf: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1GE-tp2zCWolDx09ELLbIHl54CZSJ2JIh/view?usp=sharing
  24. I like the renderings and the overall plan. But, always be wary of renderings of Glass buildings. They always ending up looking much more opaque in real life than they do in renderings.

All very true. However, I suspect there would be lots of surface parking lots in that area today if it hadn't been all demolished for CUT.
