Cleveland: Public Square Redesign
^ Not necessarily. Many of the buses (the Healthline and Trolleys for two examples) will continue to go around the perimeter. Not all that traffic will go through Superior. Plus, Superior won't have additional cars going through as it is only buses. With lower speed limits and pedestrian focused street spacing, I don't think that it'll be as cataclysmic as some people

Cleveland: Public Square Redesign
Yes. It would add significant cost to RTA as well as creating significant bus traffic around the perimeter of the square that would effectively cut it off from the outside sidewalks (some people on here deny that this is happening, but I can tell you that I see it every day and it's not a pleasant experience). Superior's width will also be cut down in size and part of it will be covered in special pavers to help connect both sides of the square. It's not like a concerte road will be cutting through the middle. And they do plan to close it down for special events and likely during many weekends as well.

Ohio Designated Outdoor Refreshment Areas (DORA / Open Container)
The fact that we have open container laws at all is ridiculous. We're how many decades out of prohibition and we're still afraid of alcohol? We should not only abolish open container laws but also lower the drinking age.

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
If only there were a port and a freight train line behind the upper deck of Progressive Field... Okay I'll stop.

Cleveland: Transit Ideas for the Future
^ And considering the Red Line extension to the east is under serious study right now, I wouldn't exactly call that a 'pipe dream.'

The Official *I Love Cleveland* Thread
^ One correction, Tremont and Ohio City are not part of "downtown." When talking about more active "neighborhoods" of downtown, I'd say look to Gateway (including E 4th) and the Warehouse District. As a resident of the Warehouse District, I'll speak to your point about lack of activity on the weekends. I don't often find myself out and about the WHD because I don't really like the WHD. Specifically, it is not a very enjoyable place to walk around or hang out because of all the surface parking lots. Besides W 6th between Lakeside and St. Clair, the neighborhood is not at all intimate. Whenever I leave my apartment, I find myself headed to other parts of downtown, Ohio City, UC, Tremont, etc.

Ohio Designated Outdoor Refreshment Areas (DORA / Open Container)
^ I agree with that assessment. There hasn't been much discussion about how cities will receive this law if it indeed gets passed in Columbus. What would be the primary potential objections city leaders may have? I can already hear in my head members of Cle City Council fear mongering about the collapse of public order as well Zack Reed and Jeff Johnson complaining about none of the proposed districts being located in Wards 2 or 10.

Ohio Designated Outdoor Refreshment Areas (DORA / Open Container)
Here's one example of how you could fit most of downtown Cleveland (including FEB, WHD, Gateway, and PlayHouse Square) into a half square mile area: Also, some intense gerrymandering to include W 25th St, "Hingetown," Gordon Square, and Tremont:

Well, to be fair, I only just noticed it today. It may have been taken down days/weeks ago. I don't know.

Ohio Designated Outdoor Refreshment Areas (DORA / Open Container)
I sometimes forget how small (geographically) and dense Cincy's downtown is Edit: At second glance, most of downtown Cleveland (including FEB, WHD, and Gateway) could all fit into a half square mile as well

Ohio Designated Outdoor Refreshment Areas (DORA / Open Container)
I really like the idea of this in general, but my concern is that a large city is only able to create two ORA's. So basically the city will be choosing to give preference to certain areas and establishments over others. Does the city pick Flats East Bank, The Warehouse District, Gateway, West 25th Street, etc, etc? Do bars in the areas that you don't select suffer significantly because of this? Also, I haven't read the legislation yet, so perhaps this is in there, but how is the half square mile area defined? Can cities "gerrymander" the area to include as many entertainment districts as possible (i.e. lumping the FEB and WHD together as one?) This is a fun mapping tool I've been playing around with to see what the square mileage of certain areas would be: http://www.mapdevelopers.com/area_finder.php

The Official *I Love Cleveland* Thread
^ That's regarding the article that was posted today which can be found here: https://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/2015/04/20/cavaliers-are-cleveland-best-and-only-hope-for-title/msYnc9rGbHpZndaA1mnrNO/story.html. As for the previous article from a few weeks back: What did it say that was so bad? Is it cached somewhere? Who is the author--I can try to find a cached version. There were just a lot of inaccuracies in it, as were mentioned on this thread a couple pages back. Here are just a couple examples:

After today's story from a certain sports reporter from the Globe about Cleveland, I went back to look at this article and noticed that it has since been removed "because the reporting practices did not meet Globe standards."

Cleveland: Downtown: Progressive Field
I reluctantly ventured to the upper deck on opening day to grab some shots. Warning Graphic Content: Some viewers may find the following images disturbing The old visitors bullpen was pretty cool though:

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
I always thought it would be great if RTA passes were available for purchase at surrounding businesses. If my guy at the beer store can operate the lottery thingy, he should be able to get me an RTA pass. They are: http://www.riderta.com/vendorlocations. It'd be nice to be able to get them at all drug stores like CVS, Walgreens, etc as well as gas stations. Edit: StrapHanger[/member] beat me to it.

Do you not realize there are apartments and town homes located directly across W 117th St? Also, what authority has dictated that town homes can only exist in "transition" areas?

^ It's a pretty similar story with highways wiping out neighborhoods and urban renewal though.

Cleveland: Downtown: Progressive Field
Apparently upgrading the sound system wasn't part of the renovations. Hopefully that's on the list for next offseason.

Cleveland: Downtown: Progressive Field
Another cool feature: there are plaques outside the right field gate commemorating the Indian's WS wins and AL pennants as well as all the players with retired numbers. And I really love the addition of the Cleveland and Ohio flags on either side of the U.S. flag. I'd venture to say that's the largest Cleveland flag in the city.
