  1. 2014 RTA Annual Report: http://data.axmag.com/data/201503/20150320/U133364_F329916/FLASH/index.html Who's that handsome guy on the back of the bus on pages 8-9??

^ I think that same advice should go to Jeff Johnson, Zack Reed, et al as well.

You mean I could be making $74,000 per year while collecting a public pension at the same time without even a high school education? I'm in the wrong profession.
  4. ^ Good stuff. Thanks, Jerry. Do you know when the 2014 annual report is due out by chance?
  5. Fantastic pictures. I'm excited to see what the Flats look like in 10, 20 years. It could became an amazing and unique area.
  6. If it wasn't for the addresses of the two neighboring buildings, I'd never be able to ID that house. It was described as Italianate. Wow. It's been so badly modified, you'd never know it. Yikes.

^ Ha, yeah I saw that...and then proceeded to favorite all of Zone's tweets. I knew they weren't best buds, but I didn't realize that there was that kind of animosity. Zone is right though, everything that Reed does is seemingly done so he can "toot [his] own horn." Edit: the back story on this is that during one of Reed's grandstanding rants during the council meeting last week, he made reference to how none of the people cutting the ribbon at the new downtown Heinen's store were minority or female.
  8. Probably not feasible given current safety standards. There are a LOT of mandatory signaling and fail-safe systems required to go completely driverless and my assumption is that the cost of those systems would be prohibitive in the case of an older system like ours. Right. I can't see it happening. The only completely automated systems in the US are airport trams and people movers (like Detroit and Miami). Some systems like BART, SF Muni, PATCO have automated control, but they have an operator on the train as a fail-safe. The DC Metro used to be automated, but after the 2009 crash, the system runs on manual control now.

Running out of gas Featured editorial from the Toledo Blade Toledo’s regional bus system must raise its state-lowest fares just to maintain basic services, underscoring the need to find more reliable and sustainable ways to pay for public transportation here and throughout Ohio. The state, which ranks near the bottom in transit support, must also do much more if it hopes to redevelop its cities and keep talented young people in Ohio... http://www.toledoblade.com/Featured-Editorial-Home/2015/03/21/Running-out-of-gas-1.html
  10. "It’s best to stop pretending that the people of Cleveland, the residents living along this route particularly, are anything but an afterthought caught up in this gargantuan boondoggle. " And this article was under the "News" section on Scene's website? I have mixed feelings on the OC, so I understand the sentiment, but this represents my problem with Scene. I appreciate that it exists, and it's good to have a news alternative in this town, but couldn't they try to be a bit more objective than this? Especially considering that the OC does arguably have some merits.
  11. It was indeed. I always used to do my school supplies shopping there, so it's sad news for me on a personal level too.
  12. "The city’s free trolley service operates daily and can drop you off at the Sweet Moses Soda Fountain and Treat Shop for classic sundaes with its own homemade ice cream." "The Cle (as the locals say) has always been a cultural powerhouse, financed by the city’s pioneering industrialists — John D. Rockefeller and Andrew Carnegie — who spent lavishly to give it treasures for the ages." I'm glad to hear that RTA extended the trolley system to Detroit-Shoreway and that Andrew Carnegie was actually from Cleveland and not Pittsburgh like I had mistakenly always believed...
  13. ^ Was this what you were referring to? If so, that's actually been there for quite a while.

Getting into the PD archives can be dangerous...I can get lost for hours in there.

I found an article in the PD from 1918 that mentions Lorange as the developer of the downtown theater. See attachment.
  16. I honestly wouldn't mind seeing the chief go. I love the Block C logo and I think it looks a lot better (and is much older than Chief Wahoo). But I agree about the name. I would not be happy about that at all.
  17. Not to mention that Paul Dolan specifically said as much during the home opener last year when being interviewed by Triv. Granted, I wouldn't expect him to admit it on the radio if they were, but he also wouldn't likely have denied it so adamantly.

^ Yikes! I've never heard of that one before
  19. If there was a place that would likely not be insured, it would be Steve's Lunch.
  20. My initial, and perhaps naive, thought was that maybe it wasn't that bad and that they'd be able to salvage the building. Alas... Steve's Lunch building leveled as loyal customers despair loss of Cleveland favorite http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2015/03/steves_lunch_building_leveled_1.html Besides the obvious sadness of losing Steve's Lunch, the building was really neat was well. I had noticed a few months ago that the front facade had recently been restored after having been covered up decades ago. Such a shame.
  21. This morning I saw a sign in the storefront next to Starbucks on W 6th that Cathy's Ice Cream will be coming soon. I was on the other side of the street and didn't have time to run over and look more closely at the sign. I'm not familiar with Cathy's. Looks like there is a place called Cathy's in Wisconsin, but can't recall if it's the same logo that I saw. Either way, it will be nice to have an ice cream place in the neighborhood.
  22. They might of placed it here because it can get used year round when placed in TC without the hassle of moving it constantly due to rain and/or snow. That idea you pitched is smart though. It is actually going to be outside, in front of the TC entrance
  23. Here's the story: http://www.cleveland.com/architecture/index.ssf/2015/03/its_official_construction_of_i.html?hootPostID=0926c89d8236bfb1bb9f0404da5d5995
  24. ^ It would be a bit more fun if it were to be placed right in the center of the southern part of Public Square, so that it literally divides east and west where Ontario St used to run.

"Quit making noise, eh." Was it because you were opposing fans? Blue Jays fans are always the most annoying visiting fans when they're at other teams' parks. So they shouldn't dish it out if they can't take it
