Street Grid and Public Transit Map Quiz
9/10 on street grid (although I don't feel too bad for not knowing the one I got wrong) 10/10 on public transit

Cleveland: Downtown: The 9 / Rotunda / County Admin Development
I haven't heard anything, but if I do, I'll pass it along. Looks like they're going to be working down to the wire though getting everything ready before next Wednesday.

Cleveland: Mayor Frank Jackson
I would be out fighting tooth and nail for his opponent if Jeff Johnson ever ran for mayor. I can't imagine the type of damage he would do to the city.

Cleveland: Downtown: Progressive Field
Agreed. If the pressure to remove Chief Wahoo ever succeeds (as it probably should), I would vote to revert to the Spiders name. That's not very politically correct. That name would be offensive to those that suffer from arachnephobia

Cleveland: Mayor Frank Jackson
Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson could face recall election, group cites mayor's attitude on police use of force A group of citizens and minority contractors is contemplating a recall of Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson, citing the mayor's defensive posture against the U.S. Justice Department's recent findings that Cleveland police too often use excessive force... http://www.cleveland.com/cityhall/index.ssf/2015/02/group_mobilizing_for_recall_of.html

It's slightly larger than the Hudson store, so it's not the smallest. Heinen's is moving ahead with the Chagrin Falls space, but I don't know how much that is in terms of square footage. It's been years since I was at that Giant Eagle.

I vaguely remember that Wendy's...I wish we still had one downtown though

I'm not a big fan of any of them and they're not exactly creative. "District Brewhouse" might be a good option if it was for Nationals Park. That being said, I think Carnegie Corner is the best of the bunch, followed by Blues Brewhouse (but I wonder how many people would get the "Blues" reference--and the ones that would are probably not the same people that they're building the bar for).

I'm not well-versed in this, but can you explain how this is any different than funding the Downtown Cleveland Alliance employees? I see no difference in terms of the big picture. But regarding the details I suppose this is different because the cost will be put directly on the consumer. Cimperman brought up a good point that the hesitation about the FEB tax was very similar to that about the DCA when it was first proposed.

Was there really any vocal opposition to this? I mean, aside from Zack "Better call Uber" Reed? I watched all of the committee meeting and the only person who voiced strong opposition was Reed (even though he ended up voting yes!). Everyone else just seemed confused and couldn't understand what this does. It was as if people were afraid of doing something that we've never done before. Imagine that!

According to Sara Shookman of WKYC, Mayor Jackson has vetoed the FEB legislation. Jackson, “I do not support raising taxes that will not help deliver services throughout the City of Cleveland or pay for City debt.”

Cleveland Burke Lakefront Airport
It appears that LCK is listed as "Not an FAA facility," as is Wright Patterson AFB and dozens of other small muni or county airports. I'm assuming because it's partly a military airport?

I more often than not find myself agreeing with Angie, but I almost feel like her advocacy is counterproductive due to the overly combative tone she uses her pieces.

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
It looked like the garage below Tower City, actually. That area's always been a little risky. When I'd go at lunchtime during the late 90s I'd always part outside. It's definitely not the Tower City garage. You can see in the video here that it's the Casino's garage on the corner of Ontario and Prospect: http://www.wkyc.com/story/news/local/cleveland/2015/02/11/possible-shooting-in-parking-lot-near-horseshoe-casino/23220745/

Cleveland Burke Lakefront Airport
Yes, I know that. I ran a report from the FAA's 2014 data for all of Ohio's airports (Belt was using 2013 data). Burke was the 7th busiest in Ohio in terms of total flight operations.

Cleveland Burke Lakefront Airport
Its the fourth busiest airport in Ohio, and it's not needed? What does that say about the rest of them....? What do you mean "fourth busiest?" I imagine the fourth busiest in Ohio is Akron/Canton

"Mayor Frank Jackson, who said in a brief written statement last week that he opposes the ordinance..." If the mayor apparently came out with a statement last week about this, I'm perplexed as to why such a big deal was made by Councilman Jeff Johnson at the Finance Committee meeting today about how no one knew the administration's position on the issue. To be fair, Councilman Cimperman also said he was ignorant of the mayor's position. Curious.

City Council just passed the Flats East Bank sales tax petition 11-5-1. Surprisingly, Zack Reed switched his position and voted 'yes.'

"Rolling Out the Welcome Mat: Two cities hope that embracing immigrants can reverse their decline" http://www.economist.com/news/united-states/21642226-two-cities-hope-embracing-immigrants-can-reverse-their-decline-rolling-out-welcome "Such welcoming policies are spreading. Rustbelt cities like Cleveland, Dayton and Philadelphia all avidly court immigrants." We do? That's news to me.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
^ I'm glad I'm not the only one that had that come to mind Edit: while walking down Madison, trying to get to W 117, I noticed that the 25 bus doesn't run on the weekends. Since when did that happen??

Living Car Free
I see your point but disagree with you. I think it's unrealistic to say being 'car free' means never using a car. I don't own a car, but have used Zipcar quite a few times for things like grocery shopping or for purchasing furniture items at Target or Walmart. The thought of lugging a bookshelf or television on the 81 bus back can't possibly be appealing to anyone. Even when I lived in DC (a very care free friendly city) I would still use Zipcar or Car2go for things like that. Or even if I needed to get somewhere really quickly and didn't have time to wait for the bus or Metro. Cars themselves are not the problem, but the way in which we build our cities around the use of them.

Frederick, Md.
Frederick is a really cool town. Thanks for the pictures. It's unfortuante that most people just associate this city with suburban sprawl shopping centers off of 270

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
I went there for the first time a couple weeks ago. I got the chicken deluxe sandwich and it was very good. The food tastes fresh, it's all made to order, and it's relatively healthy. The only problem was that I was still hungry after my meal.
