  1. Could it be working but only in certain areas? I consistently see the signal at E12th change it’s normal pattern to accommodate the healthline. ? The HealthLine’s signal priority has been back on for years. It’s not active at major intersections like E 9 & E 55th, but it is at most other places.
  2. What's preventing you from doing anything with that space now? FES takes up less than half of the area you've whited out. Yeah, but it's smack dab in the middle of that space and would have a massive impact on any plan to are coming up with for that land. Not to mention, as significant amount of the parking in that area is required to be there because of the team's contract with the city, so that's even more space indirectly taken up by the stadium's location.
  3. Or an entire Toledo since 2000.

It was to maximize the amount of interior space that had direct access to the perimeter of the building. The windows allowed for ventilation and airflow to make the environment in the building more pleasant. It was also to increase the amount of sunlight that got into the inside of the building.

That's how you used to have to do it before air conditioning came around.
  6. The problem is Cleveland really doesn't have massive traffic issues. The irony is Washington does and Metro ridership is dropping anyway. Transit ridership is dropping pretty much everywhere in the US, except for a handful of cities. http://humantransit.org/2018/04/why-does-ridership-rise-or-fall-lessons-from-canada.html No, the methodology of counting riders hasn't changed, to my knowledge.
  7. Based off a brief convo I had with a guy at Sherwin this week, it doesn't sound like this will happen anytime in the near future. The focus will be on "paying down debt from the Valspar acquisition" before making any moves on building a new HQ.
  8. Members of the Cleveland Restoration Society took a tour yesterday and they posted some pics to their Facebook page:
  9. Cleveland Scene said investments wouldn't pay off though... It’s not just Cleveland Scene, but every legit study that has been done shows that public money being invested into sports arenas don’t pay off. That’s not saying there aren’t other reasons to support it, but investing tax dollars doesn’t lead to a net economic benefit...

Maybe it's just because having a small downtown airport isn't necessarily a big incentive for businesses to relocate?

Here's what Burke looks like compared to Central Park in Manhattan.
  12. There should be no parking minimums in all* of Cleveland.
  13. Oh, I was wondering what they were doing. They were working on that around 12pm today.
  14. Just a few minutes ago I noticed workers taking down the fencing that was surrounding the parking lot

  16. With Massive Potential State Tax Credit, nuCLEus Could Be Back Posted By Sam Allard on Fri, Mar 23, 2018 at 10:43 am Recent testimony by a Stark Enterprises executive at the Ohio Statehouse suggests that the nuCLEus project is still in the works. Stark Vice President Steven Coven testified in support of House Bill 469, a bill sponsored by Rep. Tom Patton, (R-Strongsville) and Rep. Ken Schuring (R-North Canton), which would provide a 10 percent tax credit to new "transformational" mixed-use development projects, or TMUDs. https://www.clevescene.com/scene-and-heard/archives/2018/03/23/with-massive-potential-state-tax-credit-nucleus-could-be-back
  17. According to the PD, they arrived in mid-February. But they said it would take 16 weeks to replace the wheels on the whole fleet. I've heard that there aren't many 1-car trains running on the line anymore though. http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2018/02/rtas_red_line_runs_some_one-car_trains_for_now_photos.html
  18. He's right, the 2016 estimate for Cuyahoga Co was 1,249,352 https://www.census.gov/newsroom/press-releases/2017/cb17-44.html So did Cleveland MSA gain or lose in these new estimates? "down an estimated 272 people" http://www.cleveland.com/datacentral/index.ssf/2018/03/cuyahoga_county_no_3_nationall.html Sorry, the above was for combined Cleveland/Akron area. I just checked the Census site and the Cleveland MSA alone was down 1,221 from 2016.
  19. I briefly saw some floor plans for the building renovation, and I don't have much more info, but can confirm the project is "moving forward."
  20. 21. I never knew there were so many fans of college wrestling.
  22. That wasn't part of the plans for the Weston project, was it?
  23. That's affiliated with the Cleveland Council of the Knights of Columbus. They also own the adjacent building that contains the Clevelander
  24. That sounds like a fair assumption. It wouldn't make sense to me to have two locations just 1/3 of a mile from each other, both in the Gateway District.
