Cleveland: Shoreway Boulevard Conversion
The city has proposed this, but Downtown Cleveland Alliance has opposed it. Any particular reason why?

Cleveland: Shoreway Boulevard Conversion
ODOT should just close off that merge section and make all traffic from the W 3rd ramp go straight through to the E9th ramp. Yeah, you'd hit a traffic light, but seems better than having that dangerous intersection.

Cleveland: Shoreway Boulevard Conversion
The Amtrak exit does indeed go straight up the E. 9th ramp. The approach you're talking about is from the W. 3rd Shoreway on ramp. Yes, I agree, completely dangerous.

Cleveland: North Coast Transportation Center
That may be true right now, but I'm not convinced that that will be true in the long run. I think we will eventually find that flying between close city pairs will be unprofitable for the airlines (prohibitively expensive). As a result, having the Midwest Hub rail plan in place with connections to the airports might be more necessary and profitable. What if Cincinnati's middle-of-nowhere airport were connected by rail to Cincinnati (and Dayton), Lexington and Louisville? High speed rail from Cleveland to Akron, Youngstown, maybe even Pitt -- expands transit options and increases potential airport customers within an hour's travel. There's no money for any of that to happen any time soon, but I'm optimistic that we should be planning for that future. Perhaps, but what does that have to do with Burke?

The Official *I Love Cleveland* Thread
What's up with Indianapolis getting called out for arts and food and Cleveland gets....religion????? I was thinking the same thing. How does one even think that is a valid stat to include on a list like this? Especially considering all the other things she could have written about. Also not one, but two mentions of rock and roll...ugh

What's up with all these real outdated pictures lately???

Cleveland - Winter Meetup?
So I've been on this forum for 9 1/2 years and have never met any of the Cleveland people on here. I'm finally back living in Cleveland after being in DC for seven years and would love to finally put some faces to the posts that I've been reading for almost a decade. Would anybody be interested in a forum meet up in the next few weeks? I'm always partial to grabbing beers, and would prefer it to be downtown (or somewhere accessible via Rapid) since I don't have a car, but am open to ideas. Thoughts?

Cleveland: Downtown: Halle Building + Annex Conversion
Obviously trivial, but couldn't the person who chose the picture for the article chosen one that's a little more current?
-
Cleveland: Flats East Bank
Yes, that's Flipside. I believe it's only one floor.

Cleveland: North Coast Transportation Center
How about we just build this? Edit: Has there ever been a discussion in a thread on this forum about what may have happened had the Burnham train station been built instead of the Union Terminal?

Cleveland: Downtown: nuCLEus
You're making much ado about nothing. There hasn't been a significant change. The only thing that looks different is that there is no longer the hotel portion the juts out from the taller tower. But I would hardly consider that piece a "tower" in its own right. I also have no idea why you are losing confidence that this plan will happen. Nothing that Stark has done would seem to indicate that.

Ohio Designated Outdoor Refreshment Areas (DORA / Open Container)
Valid questions, but all we need to do is look at Vegas, Memphis, New Orleans, all of Europe, etc. to see how they handle it.

Cleveland: Random Quick Questions
The former address corresponds to 1134 St. Clair Ave., NE (which is part of the site of the current Galleria/Erieview.) Check out p. 12 of this book: http://cplorg.cdmhost.com/cdm/compoundobject/collection/p128201coll0/id/942/show/387 Great, thank you. I had found that book, but wasn't able to locate any of the addresses for St. Clair. Now I have a more personal reason to hate the Erieview urban renewal project....

Cleveland: Random Quick Questions
Random question that I'm hoping someone here can help with: I'm looking to find the location of my great great great grandfather's furniture shop. I believe it was called F. Kuhlman and Son's and I found an address online at 488 St. Clair. This would have been in the 1880s or so. The only possible location for that address would be the location of the Waring Block at the corner of St. Clair and W. 6th, but that doesn't seem correct. I know street names were changed in the early 20th century, but would addresses on a street like St. Clair also have changed?

Cleveland Browns Discussion
I agree he's been a big reason, but it also seems that he's been a handicap these last few weeks. I think the pressure in Berea to start Manziel has reached a tipping point after yesterday. I could be wrong, but I feel like we'll see Johnny start against Indy.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
So...Johnny Football huh? I felt in the minority when he was put into the game, in that I was more sad than excited. I know that Hoyer hasn't been getting it done, and it was great to see Johnny go on that drive, but I was really hoping that Hoyer was going to be our guy. He's one of us and he's a good guy. I'm not sure I can be proud to have a guy like Johnny leading this team, but hopefully he'll grow up a lot

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
I also think the shuttle buses should be free to ride, since it's a pretty big inconvenience and takes significantly longer to get anywhere than taking the Rapid.

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
Haven't heard anything about Panini's. While I'm no big fan of theirs, their concept was a lot more inviting than the Beach Taco imho. http://media.cleveland.com/business_impact/photo/paninis-on-the-flats-jrr-1jpg-cbab410412a69264.jpg Here's our answer re: Panini's

Cleveland-Lakewood: Enhance Clifton Transit Project
Well, at least the final terminus is at Cleveland State's campus... I don't have a problem with this particular branding (albeit I'm a bit biased being an employee of CSU), but I don't really like sponsorship of transit lines in general. I've never been a fan of the "HealthLine" name. But hey, if it brings in extra revenue, whatever..

Winterfest Cleveland
Winterfest starts at 1pm, but the schedule says the tree lighting and fireworks are from 5:30-6pm (http://www.downtowncleveland.com/events/winterfest.aspx) Unfortunately the Corner Alley doesn't open until early December. And since it's Saturday, the West Side Market is a always a good near west side activity for out of towners. Edit: Although expect the market to be insanely busy and parking won't exactly be easy. You could take the Rapid from Ohio City to University Circle though, or vice versa

The Ohio State University Buckeyes Football Discussion
Another fun stat, if OSU beats Michigan next week, the Wolverines will have more seven loss seasons in the last seven years than the Buckeyes have had in the history of their program. Edit: It's actually not that "fun." I love beating Michigan, but it's no fun beating a crappy Michigan. A good Michigan=good for the Big 10=good for Ohio St.

Cleveland: Festivals, Music Concerts, & Events
I didn't go, but the headliner music acts are E-V, MGK, and Carlos Jones. They're also charging $10 to get in this year. Not sure how I feel about them just making it a concert that you have to pay to go to. Edit: Here's the poster

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
Ha! Wow didn't even notice that at first glance. Not to mention, they also got the name of the stadium wrong...

Cleveland: Festivals, Music Concerts, & Events
I thought this had its own thread last year, but couldn't find so will just post it here: The Ohio Homecoming CLE ROCKS NYE event will be on Mall B this year. They will be announcing details of the event during a press conference on Friday (11/21). I was hoping they would be having it at Play House Square, but Mall B is still a good spot for it though. https://www.facebook.com/events/1511048902492032/
