It's great that most of the office space is already leased. Hopefully they will start lining up tenants for their next project around the corner.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
They don't need to see it to know that they hate it! For the hardcore haters it won't matter how nice the streetcars look or how well the system works. Some people will always be against it. Also, I'm sure even after the streetcar has been in operation for years there will still be city residents who don't know about it because they never pay attention.

Grandview Heights: Grandview Yard
Eridony replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI know! When the announced that new apartment building the news was "construction could start within a week," which I did not believe. A week later and they were working on the site.

Columbus: Olentangy River Road Developments
Eridony replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionAnd don't forget about a new strip mall under construction on the street! Also the Kohl's property on that street was just sold (Business First Article) with the developer saying "redevelopment options include more retail, a hotel and apartments." I can only assume any of those developments would be more of the cheap suburban style developments that already exist on that stretch.

Columbus: Downtown: Lower.com Field / Astor Park
I think the best place would be the Pen West area (The mostly undeveloped area west of the Arena District). There is a large piece of land owned by NRI that I'm pretty sure would be big enough for a stadium. NRI says they are going to develop that area as residential but so far have released no plans. I also think the empty area behind COSI would be a good spot. Again that area is supposed to be residential but no proposals have come out yet. I really don't see the Crew building a new home anytime soon though.

Columbus: Harrison West / Dennison Place Developments and News
Eridony replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI always find stuff like this ridiculous. Harrison Park is only a couple of blocks away and Harrison West Park is a block away. I think it's more people who like their neighborhood but are afraid of more people moving in and changing things.

Then & Now
This one is a bit different. Dr. Meinhardi built a doctors office & apothecary around 1903 in Whitehall, Michigan. At some point the building was moved from the street to the rear of a house and pretty much forgotten about. I had never heard of it or seen the building until one day in 2011 I happened to be driving through Whitehall and saw this: Whitehall Building Relocation by Brandon Bartoszek, on Flickr It was moved to a public park for preservation. I did not see it again until last week. Here it is now: Meinhardi Drugstore Restored by Brandon Bartoszek, on Flickr

Then & Now
Justin Smith Morrill was a US senator who sponsored the Morrill Act, which established Land Grant colleges. Michigan State (at the time the Michigan Agricultural College) was the first Land Grant college. Morrill Hall was originally the first female dormitory at the college. Even though the building was brick the framing was timber which were rotting away. Supposedly it wasn't "economically feasible" to save the building. Nice link! What did we do before Streetview?

Grandview Heights: Developments and News
So the Grandview Crossing development now sounds like it will be suburban style retail with no mix of uses. Proposed Grandview Crossing development compared to Lennox I'm fine with adding some chain retail to the area, but I feel it is a waste not adding at least some apartments on the west end of the site that would enjoy nice views of the skyline.

Then & Now
Wow, that old building has a lot to see. An old Vernor's ad, a greyhound station, and what appears to be a Vitrolite storefront for the Citizens S&L Company! I know what you mean about seeing buildings demolished to be replaced by lesser buildings or nothing at all. Here is one more I did that makes me sad. Morrill Hall at Michigan State University was built in 1900 and demolished in 2013. It was replaced with "Morrill Plaza" Here is the same view in 2011 and 2014.
