Those restaurant signs were gone when I saw the building the other day

I'm unsure of the boundaries of Playhouse Square, but I see a shot of Hofbrauhaus construction here so I'll add my own.

I saw this building when I visited Cleveland on Saturday, plus several others being renovated on Euclid (that may have their own threads?), but until I read this thread I had no idea the original facade had been completely hidden. Amazing that such a grand building can be brought back to its former glory.

It was great! I spent hours walking around and taking pictures. I will definitely have to visit again in the future.

I visited Cleveland for the first time Saturday. Here are a few shots I took of construction.

There were a couple of guys in there working when I took that picture. It is going slow for such a small building though.

What was the building used for between the 1950s and present? I see mention of the city owning it for 25 years, but did they do anything with it? Here are some shots from the weekend.

I don't understand why they don't just sell it instead of demolishing it. I live not very far from it and the area seems to have a good demand for residential. I could easily see the building reused as apartments.

The first shot is what looks like the beggining of foundations near 1st Avenue and 6th Street. The rest are of Battery B.

I think the retail will be easier to lease when all the other nearby apartments are completed. Suddenly there will be a lot more residents in the area.

Work has started on 250 High. I can't wait for it to go vertical

I was also looking at that empty retail space at the corner thinking whatever place went there could make the building more interesting. Also between Highpoint and the neighboring projects this section of High Street is changing quickly.

I don't mind the design of Highpoint, but I do wish there was some variation with the roofline. It is so long it needs something to break it up. I know nothing about its construction quality.

I'm not really familiar with that intersection, but the conceptual rendering didn't seem very inspiring.

When I was in college I cared a lot about how the building I lived in looked. I guess I was weird.
