Cincinnati: CUF / Corryville: Development and News
brian korte replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionAccording to the latest planning commission agenda Pomodori's Pizza was demolished for surface parking of 40 spaces. It is owned by Kingsley Investment Group LLC which I believe is the Chinedum Ndukwe development company. The planning commission staff recommended approval if they amend the proposal to add some tree buffers. Staff actually said they think this will help alleviate parking problems in the area. What a terrible use for that corner.

Cincinnati: Random Development and News
brian korte replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionFor those projects that didn't receive credits, do they downsize the scope (ala Mercer?), scrap the project, move forward anyway, reapply for credits, or some combination thereof?

Cincinnati: Oakley: Oakley Station
A coworker of mine lives in those apartments and its hard to get her to understand how folks can think of this development as a failure when "the apartments are sold out and the stores are always full." I bet that's the mentality of a lot of folks.

Cincinnati: Mayor John Cranley
Tons of political payback in these plans: Lytle = W&S, Riverfront = Castellini, Wasson Way = Wym Portman (also wasn't this supposed to be privately funded), Westwood Town Hall???, bike trails instead of bike lanes, urban campsite in Roselawn?, King Records in Evanston?, etc. 25% of funds for maintenance. 75% for debt service? Who decides what to fund after the parks are renovated and debt service is paid off if this is a permanent levy? Why not combine with the county? The county folks didn't even know this was coming... why the blindside? So many questions.

Cincinnati: Mayor John Cranley
The Mayor need not be a development expert to help folks secure financing and collateral to make projects happen. That's what why hire an Economic Development Director and Solicitor Office lawyers. The Mayor needs to be an advocate for the city. The whole city.

Cincinnati: Mayor John Cranley
Cranley's idea was to get all of the parties to agree to let a federal judge mediate and enforce and agreement on how to fix the pension. It was an innovative idea and frankly the best thing he's done as Mayor and will likely be his lasting legacy. It's a great thing for the city. Unfortunately PAlexendar and neilworms are right about everything else in regards to this mayor.

Cincinnati: Mayor John Cranley
How long before John Cranley gets fed up with and jealous over the positive citywide, national and international press the Police Chief is getting and decides to fire him? Nobody but the Mayor is the face of this city, dontyaknow! http://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-32816247

Cincinnati: CUF / Corryville: Development and News
brian korte replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionYes. This is the bit of land bounded by Calhoun, Scioto, McMillan, and Vine St/Jefferson. Excited to hear what it will be. I remember the original plans were for a movie theater. Hotel VERY interesting. I was under the impression that U-Square was holding a pad for a hotel.

Cincinnati: Madisonville: Development and News
It goes both ways. It also undermines the developer's argument that he has been marketing office space and hasn't been able to find users so therefore the demand isn't there.

Cincinnati: Oakley: Oakley Station
I agree with almost everything, but I've got to assume that at least some of those folks visit Kitchen 452, Cafe DeSales, Suzie Wongs, and Mardi Gras on Madison (when its open), as well as potentially patronizing Myrtle's or the Growler House for Happy Hour. Still, you're right, the building and lot are awful and I definitely won't miss them. But we're getting off topic!

Cincinnati: Oakley: Oakley Station
We know at near certainty that Anthem is moving to Oakley Station and I am now also hearing that there will be residential development at the Walnut Hills Anthem site. Something along the lines of 300 residential units that will include multiple buildings and townhomes. If so this couldn't be better news for the area. Losing the Anthem jobs during the day won't be great for some of the daytime business but replacing it with permanent residents is a big win.
