  1. Lots of work going on at 4725 Madison Road, the old BBQ Revue adjacent to Madison Bowl. They are grading the land and putting up a retaining wall. According to CAGIS EZ-Trak permits the new construction will be a 3-story self storage building.
  2. The former county administrator, Christian Sigman, was essentially fired for criticizing Carter. http://www.cincinnati.com/story/news/2015/04/30/county-official-time-change-banks-developer/26656049/ https://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/news/2015/05/06/county-commissioners-strip-top-official-of.html
  3. I did not know this existed. Thanks. However, the noise issues stem from 15 motorcycles driving by at the same time, rather than one being overly loud, so tough for them to do anything.
  4. They position the cones so as to prevent people from turning left into or out of the park. The left turns were causing large backups (past Krohn Conservatory) and were becoming a big issue for traffic flow. The Mayor held a "meet and greet" at a high-rise near the park and told the attendants he was doing everything he could to prevent motorcycle noise.... which, I'm not sure he has any power to prevent what people drive.
  5. Nope. Seth Maney and Jeffrey Pastor are running as Republicans. Derek Baumann and Henry Frondorf have been endorsed by the Charter Committee.
  6. This has been happening every day, all summer long, so it wasn't just a July 4th thing. However, they certainly don't patrol every other park that closes at 10:00pm like they do the one near where the City Manager lives.
  7. *future city councils. Each administration (city manager) has advocated for the elimination of this silly policy but councilmembers are too weak-kneed to end it. Do it the first year after a 4-year election and nobody will remember. It would only raise most folks' taxes by $10-15 per year. Schools do not get their full property tax when a property receives an abatement. They will get the property tax from the original value but the full increased value is abated. Schools lose out on this extra revenue when the city gives out property tax abatements. Schools are only spared in TIF districts/project-based TIFs. Additionally, the property tax abatement policy disproportionately affect lower-income homeowners who don't have the funds to make improvements that could possibly get the increased value in their home abated, and they end up shouldering more of the burden from those homeowners who did get abatements.
  8. I believe just four floors of that building were for the detention center. Easy to demolish the interior and start over.

Enrollment at Taft has been steadily, and quickly, declining....
  10. The reporter was called out on this, being told she should have known that VTICA was missing from the revenue figures and would more than make up for it. Her response? Oh of course I knew and I asked the city for those figures but didn't get them in time to include in the print story. Bullshit. And you could also have included the fact that this large revenue source was missing, but still ran with incorrect information anyway.
  11. I believe they are also attempting to obtain historic tax credits.
  12. It looks like staff is recommending exactly that:
  13. I see your point but not sure I agree with it. If you're a Richardson voter and you've already essentially said "John Cranley isn't my guy" what makes you want to vote for him in November? Rob ran much more as the "anti-incumbent" candidate than he did the "union" candidate. Yvette is obviously far closer to anti-incumbent than John.
  14. Not a TIGER grant, but Sacramento got $50M in this congressional budget for their streetcar (http://www.sacbee.com/news/local/article147892159.html) You'd think as a Trump state with a powerful Republican Senator and Republican Congressmen we could get money... right? Right?
  15. Not gonna try number of votes but: Yvette - 40% John - 40% Rob - 20%
  16. Earlier this week I paid for a 30-minute parking meter on Court St using the app. Right after I paid and the app immediately switched to show me how much time I had left it showed 28:45....
  17. Wrong. His father used to be a part owner of that building and is not any longer. http://www.cincinnati.com/story/money/2017/01/09/another-downtown-building-eyed-new-hotel/96335714/
  18. I've been predicting it for months. The fact that Richardson has raised a ton of money for TV ads makes it a bit more likely. Please don't kid yourselves. Richardson will be lucky to break double digits.
  19. Because J Rodg let his mother run it into the ground? Guess he didn't need it for laundering anymore.
  20. According to the new CincyInsights dashboard this IS in Northside. https://insights.cincinnati-oh.gov/stories/s/Community-Council-Neighborhoods/csw6-ps2a
  21. The only reason for FCC to build a stadium is because MLS wants their teams/owners to have full ownership and control of the stadium for revenue purposes. Sharing with the casino, Nederlander, or anyone else wouldn't make any sense. Might as well stay at Nippert if you're going to share.

  23. Cincinnati streetcar to shut down temporarily - http://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/news/2017/03/01/cincinnati-streetcar-to-shut-down-temporarily.html "The Cincinnati Bell Connector streetcar will have to shut down for several days soon so that crews can fix two slabs of concrete that have issues"
  24. Because his polling shows he'll lose without more democratic/progressive support.
  25. John Cranley is officially kicking off his campaign today. As he suggested back in 2013, time to shut down all major decision making at city hall until citizens can have their say. http://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/news/2013/05/15/cranley-says-police-chief-search.html
