Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Over on John Schneider's facebook page the president of the local firefighters union expressed his desire to block the streetcar tracks as much as possible. This is absolutely insane and we should be blowing up the emails of the Mayor, City Manager and Councilmembers.

Cincinnati: 2017 Mayoral Election
From Charlie Winburn's press conference this morning about Boxgate: Winburn: "We need a new leadership type of mayor. We need a change." Question: Will you run for mayor? "If I told you that, I'd have to kiss you." “No weapon formed against me shall prosper,” Winburn said. “Yes, it is politically motivated. That’s politics." “It was so mean spirited. It was so evil. It was so cloak and dagger. They didn’t care about my family,” Winburn said. Winburn said “they” didn’t care that his wife had breast cancer. “They only cared about having a cheap media article,” Winburn said.

Much too small if they need 20 acres. They'd have to tear down a whole lot of mature trees.

There already is a soccer specific site at UC. Gettler Stadium. Capacity 1,400.

It does not. This is the language in the ordinance:

No. But Paul Grether did say that initial testing on the GPS and signs went well and they'll be deploying to all vehicles and testing. Should be ready by 1/17 at the latest.

We will get December ridership numbers during today's transportation committee meeting? Have to assume the CBC folks want those out after the less-than-stellar November.

brian korte replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionFrom the latest HCB packet (http://www.cincinnati-oh.gov/buildings/historic-conservation/historic-conservation-board/december-19-2016-staff-report-and-attachments/): Proposed demolition of a non-contributing structure at 1408 Vine St. This is behind the Weilart's building and was formerly a garage. 3CDC wants to demo it and save the vacant land for future use. Proposed 5 new 2-story townhomes on the vacant lot at 1510 Pleasant. Plenty more in the packet, too.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Nothing to see here. Just introduced, "ORDINANCE, (EMERGENCY) submitted by Councilmember Flynn, on 12/14/2016, AUTHORIZING the use of streetcar construction contingency dollars to fund a downtown traffic signal timing study."
-
Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
When? Ordinance has a 12/14/2016 date on it but has to go through Transportation and Regional Cooperation Committee first.
-
Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
A new ordinance was drafted by Flynn, but to me it would move all leftover streetcar construction money into a capital account that could only be spent on streetcar related maintenance and repair, effectively eliminating the use of those funds for conducting a traffic signal study. I could be wrong... here's the description of the ordinance:

Cincinnati: Walnut Hills / East Walnut Hills: Development and News
Terrible news for Walnut Hills as Kroger announces they will close the McMillan Ave store in March when the University Kroger opens. As a Walnut Hills resident who frequently shopped at that Kroger I'm not pleased. And I'm more likely to drive to Newport than the short Vine store. http://www.cincinnati.com/story/money/2016/12/02/kroger-shutter-walnut-hills-store/94803062/ Hoping the city and WHRF have big plans for that site.

This is the official Walnut Hills boundary map from the City of Cincinnati, who uses it for determining through which entity to distribute funds (like WHRF) for what areas: http://www.cincinnati-oh.gov/planning/linkservid/B57BF739-E4DE-A321-8E29E1ACF9C3045D/showMeta/0/ I did not know that the Art Museum is technically in Walnut Hills...

Not everything is some Cranley scheme. They've been talking about replacing that building for a very long time and it frankly has needed to be replaced for a very long time. Of course the FOP prez is a little hyperbolic but the place is a dump: http://www.fox19.com/story/33710385/fop-cincinnati-district-5-police-station-deplorable

Hamilton County Politics
Democrats should've gotten the majority back in 2008 when Tim Burke agreed with the Republican Party not to run anyone against Greg Hartmann. Surely would've won in the Obama wave year.

Cincinnati: 2017 Mayoral Election
I think it would be naive to believe that just because Yvette is black that "the black vote" will be all hers. John Cranley has been working with segments of the black community (Alicia Reese, Dwight Tillery) for 15 years and has a lot of goodwill built up there. He can tout the major improvement in city spending with MBE over the course of his four years as well. This is still Cranley's race to lose. Hard to beat when he can pull moderate democrats and all conservative voters in a citywide election. What's the coalition to beat that for Yvette? Because "the black vote" + progressives isn't enough.
