  1. Nevermind, interpreted this as the Little Miami Wastewater Treatment plant not the waterworks out in California.
  2. I suggested that the Cincinnati Library purchase the book and it looks like they have ordered 4 copies, so soon there will be at least one Library system to have the book available. Library Listing Here
  3. I may have missed one or two, but here are the candidates who specifically mention streetcar expansion or light rail in varying degrees. Streetcar: Bill Frost Kevin Flynn (with caveats of requiring realistic plans, whatever that means) Galen G. Gordon (bonus FWW cap) Kurt L. Grossman Reggie Harris Evan Holt Logan Simmering John J. Williams (University/Hospitals help fund/pay) Light Rail: Jaime M. Castle Bill Frost Phillip O'Neal Logan Simmering WVXU did separate out just the transportation responses here.

I believe you can find the racial demographic numbers in the DEC Redistricting Data (PL 94-171) HERE (Select the census block/block group/tract to see the data)
  5. I have no words for this monstrosity being built on Riverside Dr.
  6. I believe the shape is mainly due to Sam Adams not owning the corner lot. Also looks like you can see the start a semi loading/unloading area in the part of the building jutting out to the south.
  7. The project is purely manufacturing expansion along with some new parking areas. I'm not sure if they are going to start carving out areas of the newly built buildings for tours (I'm not on the team working on the project), but like mcmicken said above it would be very hard to safely do public tours in the existing facility. The facility is pretty much a giant maze inside with former exterior walls all over the place.

Came across this roap map generating website today via Jalopnik. Figured there would be some interest on this forum. https://anvaka.github.io/city-roads You can do more than just cities if your viewing device is powerful enough. I've been able to do the whole state and several counties. You can even download vector files of what you map.

I wonder if a neighbor left the loppers on a bush (tree?) next to the sidewalk as a hint.
  10. My wife is from the Wheeling area so I end up spending a fair amount of time in the area and I also don't see how any retail would work outside of further poaching stores from the Highlands or OVM. It is at least closer to downtown and wouldn't require driving on the terrifying at times I-70W from the Highlands. I shudder to think of what traffic might be like on National Rd and Bethany Pike during the Oglebay Lights Season (AKA November - New Years) if this gets built.

I think a better question is: Why does the rest of the state NOT still have the E-Check program. Looking at the worst air quality lists shows that Cincinnati has the worst air of any city in the state, yet we don't have to do the E-Check. I lived in the Atlanta metro for 3 years where they have a similar E-Check program that requires re-checking every year in order to get your registration renewed. It was quite easy to do, usually no long lines to deal with (unless you went to the cheapest possible places on a weekend) there were independent checking companies along with most dealerships having the testing equipment. The one interesting part was the fee that was charged could vary from $12ish to $25+ and each county seemed to have different minimum and maximum pricing.
  12. Great news!! http://www.cincinnatibellconnector.com/news/94/35/-RIDE-THE-CINCINNATI-BELL-CONNECTOR-FOR-FREE-DURING-BLINK CINCINNATI – Those heading downtown next month for the much-anticipated BLINK® art, light and culture event will have an easy way to explore. The Cincinnati Bell Connector streetcar will run free of charge for riders from 4 p.m. to the end of service each day from Oct. 10-13. The free rides are courtesy of the Carol Ann and Ralph V. Haile, Jr./U.S. Bank Foundation.
  13. Street view from 71N They wouldn't need to go very tall to be seen from northbound 71.
  14. https://www.cincinnati.com/story/money/2019/08/22/millennium-backs-new-replacement-hotel-plan-local-developer/2007722001/ "Smyjunas said Hilton would bring to Cincinnati one of its new meetings-and-events-focused, Signia brand hotels, which have a minimum of 500 rooms. The planned Signia Hilton Indianapolis, for example, will have 800 guest rooms and 80,000 square feet of meeting space with an executive roof deck, restaurant, and bar when the hotel is expected to be completed in 2023."
  15. My drive to/from work involves Columbia Parkway (or preferrably Riverside) and I'd totally be on board with dropping the westbound lane next to the retaining wall between Kemper and Taft/Torrence. This also happens to be the location of most of the landslides. However, I would not support the removal of the 3rd lane (next to the wall) westbound before Taft/Torrence since it does a good job of collecting the cars that will be turning off of Columbia Parkway to head up to Uptown/Walnut Hills on Taft. This seems to allow for better flowing traffic through the Taft/Torrence intersection. This lane could be made a right turn only lane anyway since that seems to be how it is mainly used, which would allow the removal of the 3rd lane after the intersection. Also, I too am amazed there aren't more terrible crashes on Columbia Parkway, especially since most people are essentially driving at highway speeds (regularly get passed by people who have to be going at least 65 MPH) on a road that is generously signed as 45 MPH.
